I replaced a 10 year old Marantz SCE7300 because I thought the Marantz had a thermal issue and would go into protect mode on any loud sharp noise. As soon as I turned on the RX it told me I had a wire fault and which speaker wire it was. Sure enough when I traced the wire I found that where I had put in a heating vent register the screw had just barely punctured the wire. Lucky for me the puncture was in a place in the wall that was easily accessible. I contemplated returning the RX, given that I know now the Marantz was just fine, but do enjoy the RX sound and features so decided to keep it. Cons: I won't ding it for these mostly because it is a feature rich piece of equipment so you need to know what you're doing - but: Initial setup can be complex. The manual (which is only on CD) could be better written. Some parameters are not explained in the manual and so you're left wondering if what you think they'll so is what they really do. I will add though that the YPAO acoustic sound analyzer is very easy to use and works quite well. Other Thoughts: Provide a paper book manual. Explain all features thoroughly as even if one is rather familiar with the overall technology the proprietary implementations can be hard to understand. Did you find this review helpful? Cons: None that I have found yet. Other Thoughts: I bought this as a replacement for my Yamaha RX-V3900 and I cannot beleive how much better it sounds. It was easy to set up and configure. I have this connected to an Epson HD projector projecting on a 92" screen. I run my XBox 360, Blu-Ray player, cable box and Sage TV running through it.
