5 out of 5 eggsGood speakers

Pros: Easy setup with the front speakers, surround and rear... you cant really mess that up. I have always had a 5.1 system and when i got a 7.1 receiver, this product was in my price range. It all was packaged well and arrived with no flaws on the casing of the speakers.

Cons: Subwoofer is weak on the power but gets it done. My other sub was able to handle more power and get more bass with a smaller design. The wires that came with were great but, there surround rear wires should have been longer.

Other Thoughts: This is a good home starter system if you have a small room for all speakers unless you get your own wire and go from there. The sub is underpowered but does the job ok.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: Low cost, Detailed sound, included speaker wire, Nice look

Cons: Included speaker wire is pretty thin

Other Thoughts: I enjoyed this 7.1 set up very much and owned it for a year. I agree with Tom on his review.

These speakers sound best in mid sized room, I ran these in an 11.5 x 11.5 and a 14.5 x 11 size rooms and they filled the space real well. I tried them in a 26 x 15.5 and although they sounded good, they didn't fill the room.

The towers and center bring some good detail, the satellites however, have only a single mid/woofer driver with no tweeter. Don't let this stop you from a purchase, as much as some so-called experts tried telling me that the speaker was incapable of reproducing a life-like sound, they were dead wrong. These satellites produced some pretty amazing sound.

Like Tom mentioned, the sub won't shake anything around you but does okay for low volume stuff. I had an 8" energy sub that I paired with the Onk sub and I could bottom them both out with heavy material.

I never did use the included speaker wire, I had upgraded to 14awg and that worked fine.

The bottom line here is the value. Rated at 130 max power, a decent size AVR can run these with ease and the sale price makes them a bonus buy.

For small to mid size rooms, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great sound. Great price. Surround speakers are relatively flat so they don't look bulky and out of place. Subwoofer blends seamlessly with mid/upper ranges.

Cons: Spring compression speaker connections are kinda of cheap but can be replaced if you want to put some time into it. Wiring that comes with the kit is too small of a gauge for my liking and too short for the rear surround. Easily fixed with your own wire. Subwoofer is enormous in stature but looks good so it's about person preference.

Other Thoughts: 5 stars primarily because of the price to sound quality ratio.

I bought the 7.1 system for use on a 5.1 Yamaha reciever with the expectation of stepping up to a 7.1 receiever in the near future. It sounds better than expected coming from a $400 price and is a worthy purchase. Some reviews I read complained about the black finish looking cheap but if you're worried about how the sides of your speakers look during a movie you're priorities are already skewed. They look fine coming from a $400 price. While the subwoofer may look huge it doesn't shake the house down. I got mine perfectly balanced with the YPAO setup on the Yamaha and haven't tweaked anything in the week I've owned it.

Beware these are 6 ohm speakers too. You're not going to destroy an 8 ohm reciever with these speakers just be aware the increased load may require some extra airflow to the reciever as it may get hot.
