Instant Home Theater without the clutter! The Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS Digital Cinema home theater system delivers an instant audio performance upgrade for your flat screen TV and comes in a compact package. This 2.1 virtual surround sound system features two diamond-shaped satellite speakers with articulating wall brackets as well as a powerful subwoofer for deep bass. It also includes two sets of analog AUX inputs for additional sources, dedicated movie and music playback modes, and Bluetooth compatibility for wireless music streaming.

2.1 System Delivers High-Performance Audio
Featuring a subwoofer and two 2-way satellite speakers, the SoundWare XS Digital Cinema system delivers big sound from a small package. Each finely tuned speaker features a high-performance 2-1/2-inch woofer and a 1/2-inch dome tweeter for pinpoint imaging and crisp highs. Quality, system-specific crossovers are utilized for complete audio coverage.

BassTrac Provides Powerful Bass Without Distortion
The dedicated 8-inch wireless subwoofer features BassTrac technology, a circuit that maximizes bass output while avoiding overload. A 250-watt amplifier and acoustically tuned port ensure powerful low-frequency reproduction of the most demanding audio. The subwoofer serves as both the connection center for inputs and houses digital signal processing circuitry and amplifiers for the system.

Digitally Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS) Delivers Enveloping Surround Sound
Boston's Digitally Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS) technology makes an authentic cinema surround sound experience possible with just two channels and a subwoofer. DOVS decodes the full, 5.1 channel audio signal from the disc and applies a proprietary process to derive the ideal 2.1-channel version of the original surround sound mix.

Connects Directly to TV and Works with Any TV Remote
The SoundWare XS Digital Cinema connects directly to your TV without the need for additional components. It also learns the television's remote control commands so you don't have to add yet another remote to the coffee table. A credit card-size remote is included for setting up the system and programming the system's control pod to your remote. After the system is programmed to work from your own TV remote, the supplied remote will still work as a backup.

Product and Warranty Information
The SoundWare XS Digital Cinema includes a digital optical input for true Dolby Digital decoding, RCA AUX inputs, and a mini-stereo AUX input for a portable media device.
Each compact, high-gloss satellite speaker measures 4-5/16 by 4-1/2 by 3-3/4 inches (H x W x D). The subwoofer measures 9-15/16 by 9-1/2 by 11-3/8 inches (H x W x D).

The Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS Digital Cinema is backed by a five-year warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great for a day or two.

Pros: Sounded fantastic. Note the past tense.

Cons: Became inoperable in two or three days. The speakers make a pulsing noise when powered, but wont process any audio output from my television.

Other Thoughts: It seems some people didn't have a problem... No wonder these are so cheap compared to normal retail; it's a gamble if you get ones that aren't garbage. I wonder if these are refurbished products - if so, the seller did NOT indicate that they were, like the other sellers of these speakers did on Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid system

Pros: great sound, compact and easy to set up. This is a wonderful alternative to a sound bar system if you lack the place to but the bar itself. I have my TV wired to it optically and my computer connected by bluetooth for music. There are additional inputs for RCA and 3.5mm available on the unit as well.

Cons: The mounting stems for the satellite speakers were fairly difficult to assemble, the screws did not seem to go all the way into the unit and were not threaded holes.

Other Thoughts: I have not used the "learn my remote" function as it looks a little tedious to do on a whim, but I will tackle that on my first available day off. As others have mentioned the lights on the remote receiver are extremely bright but not a con in my book so no egg loss there.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent soundbar alternative

Pros: - compact size
- improved sound compared to stock flatscreen speakers
- learning remote module
- multiple inputs: optical, stereo/coax, 3.5mm stereo jack, bluetooth
- optical & coax cables included
- flexible mounting options
- well-finished design

Cons: - lots of wires to subwoofer: power cord, optical audio input, remote control module, speakers
- remote module indicator leds are too bright (+but only stay on about 5 secs)
- bass response seems a bit heavy

Other Thoughts: I needed a better sound system for my Samsung 32" LED TV, which I have wall-mounted on a swivel in my sunroom. There was no place to put a soundbar but the 1/4-20 threaded inserts on the back of each speaker made it easy to fab and attach an aluminum angle across the top VESA mounting screws, with the speakers attached to each end of the angle. So the speakers swivel with the TV. The speakers also come with wall mounting brackets that have ball-type swivels, or you can set them on a shelf (they will aim slightly upward).

The box mine came in had a manufacture date in 2012 so they'd been sitting for awhile, but they look and work fine.

The subwoofer is small (about a 9" cube) but adequate for this room. Very unobtrusive.

Overall I'm pleased, these speakers are much more flexible than a soundbar would've been. And they look nice too.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Sleek shiny black diamonds.
Small but powerful sub.
Superb sound for the money.
Optical-in (comes with cable too!)
Credit card remote.
The light dongle lets you know what it's thinking.

Cons: Okay. The lights on the dongle are definitely BRIGHT, but it really isn't that bad. But yeah, if you are prone to seizures it does sometimes blink while syncing to a bluetooth device.

Other Thoughts: I picked this system up for $139 off of the eggy weggy (think it was a Shell Shocker) after reading some fantastic reviews elsewhere on the interwebz and I have not regretted it one bit. I live in a large(haha) studio apartment and this thing completely overwhelms it! I haven't previously owned any Boston Acoustic products but knew it as a quality name and that has been reinforced. I walk in the door, sync with Play Music and I have sweet music the rest of the night. I am not a true audiophile, but I certainly have heard plenty of audio equipment and know if something sounds good or not. I am equally impressed by how clear the satellites are as to the level of bass created by the sub. I have owned two 500w 5.1's from Panasonic in the past, but overall this system sounds better and the bass is far richer than I expected from such a small enclosure. I could easily see myself buying another in the future once more rooms are in my life. Overall a great buy and it deserves all it's golden eggs.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat for TV

Pros: I bought this about 6 months ago from another retailer and use it for my TV rather than using a sound bar. The sub goes behind my 65" and the speakers fit right under the TV where a sound bar would go. The sound is very good for regular viewing, but really shines for movies.

Cons: The only con is the RF dongle, it works fine, but the green lights were distraction, not sure what they were thinking there.

Other Thoughts: Price is a no brainer, get it, also you don't need to use the included remote, it will bind to your existing remote very easily.

5 out of 5 eggsAudiophile Quality

Pros: I could not believe the sound that came from this small system. I have had all kinds musical equipment ( High quality Audiophile systems) and the sound that comes from this system is simply awesome. It so worth every dollar I spent on it. You will certainly be impressed as I am.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The Bluetooth is definitely and added bonus.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Decision

Pros: Can't tell. Received a defective unit.

Cons: Received a defective unit.
Checked with BA for warranty service and found out that Newegg is NOT an AUTHORIZED reseller of their merchandise. So they refused any warranty service. I will return the unit.

Other Thoughts: BA was very attentive and helped me troubleshoot the unit to eliminate remote control problems. Then when they discovered Newegg was not an authorized dealer they stopped the support and suggested I BUY new parts.
