5 out of 5 eggsLarge, sturdy, cat loves it, good value

Pros: * Large. Both tall, and plenty of perch-space
*Stable. Tree was originally assembled in the middle of the room. Our young, energetic cannon-ball of a cat attacked it while still only partially assembled, and could not knock it over.
*Post can (must!) be climbed like trees to reach the top levels (ie: above the big platform)
* Great value. (Paid $85. Comparable trees elsewhere run $100-200.)
*Lots of scratch-space
*Lots of variety.
*Posts numbered for easy assembly. (A few years back we bought a similar-style cat-tree, and had to guess at the posts. These had small stickers with the part-number, which made the whole thing a breeze)

Cons: * Bottoms of shelves not covered. (This might or might not matter to you.)
*Visible staples on sisal. (potential for catching a claw)
* Might not be appropriate for older/overweight cats, due to the athleticism needed to get to the top portion

Other Thoughts: I wrote a review 6 days ago (which included a weekend), in which I marked it down because it had shipped without one of the perches. The manufacturer replied to my mail this morning, and the new perch is on its way. Therefore, I'm re-doing my review to show how much I love it.

Initially, we thought the cat wasn't much interested in the hammock. It's since become one of his favorite places to nap. Another favorite is the top of the large "condo" near the top, that has plenty of room to sprawl (It is the largest available flat-surface in the structure).

I expected that the mouse-dangler would quickly be destroyed (my cat loves dangly-toys, and has broken them before) but it's still intact after a week of brutal assaults. When he's truly being fierce, the platform it's on may sway a bit, but this doesn't deter him. (It seems to me that it sways about as much as a tree-branch might.) (I have a young, active cat who weighs about 10 lbs.)

I have commented several times that the tree is sturdy. I should note that although it is designed as a corner-unit, my apartment living room has no right-angled corners. Instead, it is places against one wall, with the arm of the couch touching the bottom of the one post that sticks out. So it is being quite stable even WITHOUT the support of a wall against two sides, as was intended.

I have some minor concerns over the exposed staples in the sisal, but so far they have not proven to be a problem.

Overall, I would definitely buy this product again for a young cat. (I would not consider it appropriate for a cat with mobility issues, obviously. But if my cat needed a ramp, this isn't the kind of tree I'd be looking at in the first place)

3 out of 5 eggsExcellent product, very sturdy

Pros: * Plenty of climbing space
*Sturdy, stable, strong.
* Cat loves it

I first assembled this in the middle of the room. WHILE I was still putting it together, the cat came to investigate. So I was assembling this thing with furry help. It went up easily, and -- in the middle of the room on a carpeted floor -- was never in danger of tipping over. (Not that I'd leave it there, but it does speak to how solidly it's built.)

Cons: * Bottoms of perches not covered
*Visible staples (potential for catching claws)
* My unit was shipped missing one of the top round perches. I have contacted the seller, but they have not had time to reply/remedy. (NOTE: While the rating will only be 3 stars until I have all the parts, we love the product even WITH a missing part!)

Other Thoughts: Mine is missing a piece, but I have contacted the seller (just tonight) about it.

The tree is amazingly sturdy. My cat played on it while it was still in the middle of the room from assembly, and it felt stable.

I'm a little concerned about all the exposed staples. That's generally something I avoid as much as possible, because it opens the potential to catch a claw in them.

Overall, I am very pleased with the product, and -- pending how they handle the missing perch -- would certainly buy again.

3 out of 5 eggsCould have been better, but just average

Pros: Tall, cat loves it, price was great, not as fragile as some reviews made it out to be

Cons: Received instructions for different condo (so we had to try and go based on pictures as no online manuals seemed to be found), Part of the condo, although sturdy, did not tighten very well. The middle bottom free standing part is very wobbly.

3 out of 5 eggsLooks awesome but...

Pros: Tall, looks and feels pretty sturdy (at least mostly). At 7 ft tall, the cat loves it!

Cons: The instructions included were for some other entire model, and I wasn't able to find any online instructions to print. Took the picture from here and tried to construct it from that. Took much longer than it should have had we had the correct instructions!

Also, the bottom house that is self-supporting, is very wobbly... even with the screws tightened as much as we could.

Other Thoughts: Would have been so much better (5 star) if we had correct instructions.

2 out of 5 eggsCardboard

Pros: Large, cats like it

Cons: The inside of the boxes are made from cardboard, The carpet is thin and poorly attached. It feels cheap

Other Thoughts: The Pawhut D2-0011 72" which was $11 less than this on 8-24 is much sturdier. The carpet is thicker and better attached. The boxes are made from pressed board and not cardboard.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all for the price. Recommended.

Pros: It is as tall and interesting in person as I had hoped. The cats seem to enjoy most parts of the tower. However, the lower cylinder fort is seldom used and the hammock is pretty much never used. Cats love high places though so of course the majority of merry making is up high on the 3 peaks and inside the large high fort. 3 cats have been climbing up and down the thing going nuts for almost a month now. Not a single part of it has failed or begun to fray or wear out. I'm sure enough time on it will start to show signs of wear but so far I am pleased with how well it is holding up.

Cons: A bit unstable. It does it's job and has never buckled or failed. It's just not the most sound structure made out of wood. I wouldn't call the parts cheap. I would just say that the quality is "typical" of something coming from China and the majority of the flexing is caused by the fact that it's just a little too tall and intricate for these kinds of materials.

Other Thoughts: The wood is simple yet sturdy particle board. The poles are plastic wrapped in twine for scratching and are very tough. The hammock is one solid piece of heavy metal coated completely in carpeting. Initially the cats were all unsure of the tower because of how much it would wobble. So, they would test it and then jump off quickly. Now they tear all around the tower with ease and never have any problems after they've built some confidence. 2 of the cats in particular climb straight up the tower from bottom to top using only the scratch poles and their claws. It's fun to watch them do that and it really tires them out.

If you have a lazy cat or a fat cat that is vertically challenged then keep in mind that it might have trouble accessing the upper area unless there is other high furnishings right next to it. Do you see the next platform up from the cylinder fort? It is placed underneath the huge plate holding the entire upper assembly. From there there is no walkway, ladder, or other means of ascending other than just curving around, digging in their claws, and going straight up the pole. If a cat doesn't like to or can't climb a pole straight up then getting to the top could be difficult.

As I mentioned we have 3 cats here. 2 are about 5 pounds and 1 of them is about 13 pounds. I have seen all 3 of them at the top mucking around and the tower seems to do just fine. The 13 pound cat needs to get a little excited and amped up to become motivated to climb to the top.

I probably would have given this 4.5 eggs if that were possible. I say 5 because honestly it has worked exactly as expected. It is a little wobbly but that has not stopped anyone from enjoying it. It does what it's supposed to do.

4 out of 5 eggsMeowificant

Pros: -Very large
-Plenty of room for multi-cat homes
-Price
-Build quality

The carpet used on this is very durable and is quite soft for the cats to enjoy. It is easy to clean as well. The best part of this is that each pillar has a scratch post alllll the way up. What a great concept!

Cons: -Front heavy
-Cant safely support for more than 3 cats
-Instructions are rough

It wasn't hard to build, but most of the instructions are unlabeled and you have to follow pictures with little documentation. The biggest issue here is that it is from heavy for sure. I have 3, medium sized, active tabby cats. They wobble this thing around pretty good when jumping and playing. I put it in the corner and put some angled cardboard under the front to lean it back a little more. This helped greatly!!

Be careful when planning this out for placement. If it's on carpet, you will want to put it against a wall, and maybe plan on putting something under it to lean it up against the wall. If it's on hardwood/solid floors, it may be fine.

Other Thoughts: I think this is a definite 4/5, but I'm critical because active cats can possibly topple this over, on carpet fairly easily. If you have the type of cats that will knock over a Xmas tree, then plan on this being knocked over too without prepping a sturdy location for it! Lol.
