1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work in my system

Pros: Non

Cons: Wasn't recognized by Windows 10, couldn't see in Device Manager. Running setup from the included mini CD gave an error as it couldn't find the files it had extracted. Tried to manually install the drivers but since it didn't show up I couldn't.

Other Thoughts: Turned out it did indeed work albeit much slower than anticipated. I bought this to update an older MSI K9A2 Platinum motherboard with SATA III 6 Gb/s support for my new Kingston SV300 SSD's (240 GB boot) to connect to my existing WD SATA III external hard drive. The maximum transfer speeds were in the range of 200 MB/s from my tests with HD Tune.

After I add my second Kingston SSD (120 GB) it would fail during large file transfers and lock my computer up. I could only recover by pressing reset. Testing it with HD Tune it would fail after 20 seconds.

I've submitted an RMA and will try another brand.

5 out of 5 eggsGarbage.

Pros: It was actually detected.
Snapped in half pretty easily.

Cons: My socket 775 onboard SATA 2 was faster.
On every restart this would freeze at Windows splash screen, so you'd have to fully shut down and then power back on.
Not worth 26$, in fact you couldn't pay me to use this again.

Other Thoughts: Find a much higher quality alternative and a more reputable company. Mistakes were made, don't repeat. It met my sledgehammer soon after.

5 out of 5 eggsVersatile and affordable.

Pros: My favorite: Just works with any Mac OS (unlike so many others).
Fast connections.
You will not find a cheaper option.

Cons: Not really a "con", but remember that you may need to change the jumper on the card to select internal or external connections.

3 out of 5 eggscant break 500MB/sec

Pros: faster than sata 3gb/sec
relatively cheap

Cons: If you dont care that your max throughput will be 500MB/sec instead of 600MB/sec like the sata specs for sata 6gb (its not really called sata III btw... sure its revision 3 but saying sata III confuses people with the speed specs for sata II which was 3gb/sec so we dont say sata III anymore). If you know that going in and dont care... go and buy this card. Just be warned though today's SSD's (well the higher end ones anyway) are already pushing the limits of 6gb/sec so they will bottleneck your card.

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a way to upgrade a system thats perfectly fine with an old vertex 2 ssd and an nvidia 670 running on a bloomfield i7 920 quad core to a newer faster SSD. Problem is all these add-in cards are x1 instead of 2 or 4 so Im either stuck with what Ive got or have to upgrade my entire system just to get a faster SSD that I wont even really be able to perceive a difference with over my old SSD in terms of loading etc.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast delivery and packed well. Works in both Windows and Mac.

Cons: There is no instruction to configure the jumpers. Had to do it by trial and error.

Other Thoughts: The Asmedia chipset should have more recent drivers but the company website is non-functional.
