5 out of 5 eggsI don't understand half of the reviews here.

Pros: USB 3.0 Hub...4 ports!

Fast card readers!

Flexible installation:
Connect the supplied usb cable and motherboard header adapter directly to the motherboard (your MB must have integrated usb 3.0).
Connect the supplied usb cable to a usb 3.0 expansion card with internal usb 3.0 connector.
Connect the supplied usb cable to a usb 3.0 port outside the case.

Supplied ESATA cable too.

Ordered on 8/14...received 8/21! 7 days from China!

Cons: Lack of documentation is all I could knock this for...although how much do you need? It's pretty obvious how to hook it up and there are no needed drivers.

There are a few small details but I wouldn't list them as "cons" (see "Other thoughts").

Other Thoughts: For the case we have, the housing for this reader is a tad on the wide side. It could not be muscled in. The prior reader we tried was also an extremely tight I will chalk this up to the case we have and not a fault of this reader. So I took a belt sander and thinned down the plastic fits fine now.

Initial installation had the usb3.0 ports working and the reader not working. I plugged in an SD memory card, rebooted and it started working (win 7).

Reading through the other reviews, I see one guy try a CF card???? THERE IS NO CF PORT ON THIS DEVICE!!!

I hooked this unit with it's MB adapter straight to the just have to have USB 3.0 integrated on your MB.

Maybe some people think that this device can give you usb3.0 on a system that doesn't have it already...this is not the case. You must have some kind of usb 3.0 port somewhere on the machine.

1 out of 5 eggsI really wanted to like this

Pros: Looks nice lots of connectivity, USB 3 speeds are on par. Looks nice, nice specs.

Cons: Cards reader do not work. Poor card reader slots.

Other Thoughts: I read the reviews on this unit and decided to buy this unit. It comes directly from China and took 20 days to get here. No problem, then I installed the unit. Installation is easy, very logical, comes with all cables you need. I was happy as a clam. Tried USB 3 connections, worked flawlessly and no difference in speed compared to card on MB. Still very happy.

Then comes the disappointing part***

I tried to use the memory card readers. I tried with CF, first. I had difficulty at first inserting the card. It would not go in - so it seemed. Then I noticed that the actual travel distance is literally about 1/8" - very short. OK no problem, aligned the memory card, inserted but NOTHING. multiple attempts did not do anything. Tried a Sony Memory stick. Same Issue. I Cannot get this unit to read any cards. So I believe the issue is the memory card slots and the pins do not connect with the memory card. How do I fix this other than removing the old ones and replace with new ones or physically modifying the card reader for the cards can travel more into the slot?

So...I guess I find out how to RMA this thing - replace or refund - not sure what will happen since this is going back to China? I think refund is the best option as I do not want to wait to send back to china and wait for the new one to show up to have the same issue. I will not buy ANYTHING that says "direct from china" again.

I really hoped this unit worked but I will not recommend this unit - buy at your own risk. If you want it for just the USB connections, there are other ones listed on Newegg that will do the job.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Fits nicely in floppy bay. Accepts all the cards I need it too. Nice to have extra USB ports.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my earlier post. I needed to update the drivers for my motherboard and the supplied adapter worked fine.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Fits nicely in the 'floppy' slot. Has the card slots I need. Doesn't hurt to have extra USB ports.

Cons: Will not be recognized when plugged to a USB header on the motherboard using the supplied adapter. Just shows up as an unrecognized device. Had to snake an extender cable to an external USB port.

3 out of 5 eggsServiceable

Pros: Excellent replacement for older internal card-reader. 3.0 ports seem to work fine. Eliminated a lot of outdated ports that nobody uses anymore. Comes with SATA cable and (short) USB 3.0 cable.

Cons: No documentation. Ships from China. Has an IDE-style power plug on it. Does not hook to motherboard directly!

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a dead internal card reader and add some 3.0 ports to the front of my desktop. The price seemed okay, and the reviews seemed okay. When it arrived there was no documentation about the connections. I was disappointed that it used an IDE-style power plug, which meant I had to do do some rearranging inside my case. My previous card-reader hooked directly to the motherboard's USB connectors, which also powered it.

The device has only three connectors on the back of it: The IDE power connector, a SATA connector, and a USB 3.0 connector. I guessed, incorrectly, that the card-reader slots ran off of the SATA connector. I suspect that it only runs the eSATA port on the front. Everything else runs off of the single USB 3.0 connection! Because my Mobo doesn't have 3.0 built-in, and the PCIe 3.0 card I have doesn't have an internal 3.0 plug (just two external) I had to run a USB 3.0 cable from the back of my computer, in through one of the rubber gromits in the case for water cooling (which I don't use) through the case and into the back of the Sedna. It seems weird to have to hook an internal card to an external port, but after I did this, everything seems to work fine.

I'm not sure the 3.0 performance from the Sedna is as fast as it was when I plugged directly into the card, but it is still faster than 3.0.

There really should have been at least a one-sheet with drawings of how to connect the thing. Maybe it's just time for me to upgrade my 3.0 controller to one that has an internal plug, but it still seems weird that this thing doesn't have the right connection to plug straight onto a motherboard.

Overall, though, it's all working now. (though I have not tried the eSATA port yet).

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Card reader built in the computer.
Extra USB ports.
No drivers necessary.

Cons: No documentation. Nothing on how to properly install it, not too much of a problem if it works, but make sure your comfortable opening up your computer to install this.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent, but a little big

Pros: Product functional and as described.

Cons: Product turned out to be very slightly larger than the 3.5" bay form factor resulting in it not quite fitting through the front slot in my case. (I have had other 3.5" bays which fit fine.) I was able to fix this by sanding down the plastic corners of the module. Now it fits fine, and you can't tell from outside the case that anything was modified.

2 out of 5 eggsSedna usb /card reader

Pros: The usb ports work fine.

Cons: The card reader ports do not work. It ook forever to get win 7 to see then and they were gone on the next reboot.

Other Thoughts: I would buy a usb only hub but not one with a card readers.

5 out of 5 eggsIt Works!

Pros: It works. Looks great in my old case.

Cons: None to speak of at this time.

Other Thoughts: It's 3.5" so make sure you have an old floppy slot.
