5 out of 5 eggsgreat little htpc!

Pros: Bought for $89.99, less 15% off. Bought 4gig sodimm for 38.99. Total cost for @ $115, free shipping too. I added wd drive, a network adapter, dvd drive, and a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. This unit only works with Win7 32bit. Lots of updating os and misc drivers. It handles every movie I've thrown at it. I use haali, vobsub, and ffdshow. Win experience at 3.2, due to processor and gaming graphics.

Cons: None. I built this as a light htpc, just to play and stream movies/music, browse internet...

1 out of 5 eggsNot A Very Good Camera

Pros: None

Cons: This camera just does not work. Called support and I was caller number 17 - Estimate Hold time 72 minutes - who are you kidding.

5 out of 5 eggsthis is a professional grade scanner

Pros: This scanner is fast with anything you can throw at it. It is nothing like your multi fax copier scanner printer. This is for serious users only

Cons: None - if you can afford it.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid camera- no complaints

Pros: Camera resolution is good, movement is fast, IR sensitivity is strong. Bi-directional audio is clear. All in all this is a great camera but I've come to expect that from Foscam. Firmware is fine and can do what I need it to. The camera software leaves something to be desired, but there are tons of better apps out there that can connect with this device.

Cons: No cons yet - this device works well if you know how to configure it.

2 out of 5 eggsNice hardware when it works, flaky software

Pros: Nice quality for the resolution with and without infrared

Tech support is good especially considering they are helping from Hong Kong.

Cons: WebUI is very "young" and somewhat flaky at times

One of the units failed during upgrading (I had to upgrade to try to get wireless settings to take). Make sure update for firmware takes before running update for UI.

I bought from a Marketplace seller so $10 shipping is on me to send back defective unit.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with Vitamin D software

Pros: Cheap, has IR, works easily with Vitamin D software.

Cons: 640x480 max resolution, clicking sound in marginal light for IR filter going on and off until it's either brighter or darker.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this as part of a home security system running Vitamin D software on a Hackintosh I built.

I'm also running a VPN on the Mac so I don't have to do any "real" remote into the camera - I use the VPN function on my iPhone and LiveCams Pro which works well.

I'm using one hooked up to a LAN and another via 200Mbit powerline networking and both work fine.

IR works well in true darkness (obviously colors are washed out) but it does its job as an addition to my security system and as a nanny cam.

I'll give it 4 stars for value + features. It's definitely not high end, but it's a good deal (and a good deal cheaper than many other cams).

Will probably pick up a few more over time.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Value (if you know what you're doing)

Pros: Best Bang for your Buck
Wireless and Stand-Alone. No PC required.
2-Way Audio
Infrared
Great for Baby Monitor.
Tons of video clients available. I use "tinyCam Monitor" on Android devices, to watch the baby while at work or on travel. There's apps out there for every other device as well. Can also use any browser anywhere, no software download required.

Cons: Directions are "iffy".

If you have a basic understanding of networking, you should be fine. WiFi setup consists of plugging directly into a router or computer to initialize, select to your WiFi network, then disconnect and install wherever you want it. Then you can use the browser GUI to set any other settings.

Other Thoughts: Ignore the other review. I have 3 of these now, and have used 1 for over a year. No problems with the device whatsoever.

I recommend setting "Save PTZ positions" on in the menu, as it's disabled by default, for some reason. Allows you to save position presets and quickly switch between them.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money

Pros: Infrared works well.
Some features work in wired mode.

Cons: Using it wireless is virtually impossible.
Microphone hardly ever works.
Two way communication never works.

Other Thoughts: Read all the reviews you can find about this before buying one. Many of the features simply don't work and Foscam has never done anything to resolve the problems according to all the reviews I read (after wasting my money on it). I have many other cameras by other makers and I've never had such problems except with Foscam.
