1 out of 5 eggsCoby warranty problems

Pros: Great little tv just right for most under counter kitchen applications.

Cons: 30 days problem with internal electronics. . Faulty components. Coby warranty, I send it back at my expense and enclose a $25.00 money order to pay for return to me. Seems a little expensive to correct their inferior /faulty product.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Compact, exactly what I was looking for

Cons: Can't seem to come to sound level easier on the ears, volume on 2, too low, up to 3 and it is blasting.

4 out of 5 eggsLike anything it could be better, but I am happy with it.

Pros: +Very satisfactory picture quality and size
+stereo audio system (Venturer didn't have one)
+plays mp3, mpg, avi and who knows what else
+with cheap amplified antenna tv reception is outstanding (got over 40 channels in my city)
+has a nice look, bright silver actually, not white
+powered by 12V adapter (think about the options)

Cons: -beside volume no audio controls
-am radio reception could be better
-vertical angle viewing is an issue (no problem with horizontal however)
-fold-away screen magnets could be stronger or better align to hold it better
-speakers could be better (these days, even consitering the compact size of it all)
-could use audio output (headphone jack-in perhaps)

Other Thoughts: I bought and soon returned a Venturer of similar size - no stereo - quite dissapointing. This one has stereo. For the price I couldn't wish any better. It might make a nice self-installed car entertainment for somebody, for pennies. I recon this is the best there is out there.

2 out of 5 eggsOff angle performance not good

Pros: - Mounts under counter
- Integrated QAM tuner seems good
- great form factor for kitchen
- integrates well in kitchen environment (looks wise)

Cons: - Switched from CableVision to FIOS, now most channels are scrambled. Wanted to use a Component Video extender to get the Set Top Box (STB) output into the TV, but no Component Video. Thus no way to ever get all FIOS channels (STB does NOT have a unscrambled QAM RF output!)
- Off angle - particularly when your eyes are higher than the screen - the screen washes out significantly. So, you always have to adjust the screen position so its perpendicular to your eyes at all time. For a kitchen environment, this is a real pain.
- Sound is really tinny.
- I actually re-installed the old 10" CRT TV and am hopefull I can return this (read the return policy carefully!) for a normal 19" HDTV even thought that won't fit in as well in the kitchen :-(

Other Thoughts: Coby should:
- provide the means to get unscrambled pictures, ie HDMI or Component Video. The existing AV input is SDTV and thus worthless.
- improve the sound
- provide a better screen - one with good off axis views
- understand - COST to me is not a big issue for this TV - if you want an under counter TV in the kitchen, there are only a small number of choices, all of which get bad reviews. BUILD A BETTER UNIT AND PEOPLE WILL PAY FOR IT!
