Features
Versatile and compact 3.6x Zoom-NIKKOR brings the action to the photographer. Ideal for portraiture, family, sports, nature and wildlife.

An ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element minimizes chromatic aberration, contributing to superior optical performance.

Focus mode switch enables quick switching between A (Autofocus) and M (Manual Focus).

7-blade rounded diaphragm provides more natural out-of-focus highlights.

Nikon VR (Vibration Reduction) Image Stabilization
Vibration Reduction, engineered specifically for each VR NIKKOR lens, enables handheld shooting at up to 3 shutter speeds slower than would otherwise be possible, assuring dramatically sharper still images and video capture.

New compact rod-type Silent Wave Motor (SW) enables ultra-high speed auto focusing with exceptional accuracy and super-quiet operation.

The lens is constructed with 15 elements in 11 groups.

Pros: Its a great upgrade to the lens I got with my camera. Compared to other websites it was much cheaper to order through Newegg!!!

Cons: None at the time of this review, if I run across any I will edit this post.

Other Thoughts: Kinda wish I got a wide angel lens to take landscape portraits. But this one takes excellent family portraits, so it wasn't a loss or anything, I'm just more interested in landscape photography

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the money

Pros: Nice sharp lense, i am using it on a Nikon D40 camera that i also got from newegg
it's actually sharper than the kit lense that came with the camera ( which isin't to hard to achieve lol )
i have no regrets buying it

Cons: None really that i can think of off hand, but for the money it will not be as good as a more expensive lense

5 out of 5 eggsSWEET

Pros: GREAT PRICE for Nikon lens. Perfect companion to the D5000 with stock 18-55mm lens. The addition of this 55-200mm zoom lens will cover the requirements for most users of the D5000 camera ( and othe Nikon DSLR models in this range)

Cons: none that I see.

Other Thoughts: A real price deal on a quality Nikon lens.

Pros: So far, so good. Does what it says it's going to do.

Cons: Slow motor, sometimes has trouble with the focusing.

Other Thoughts: Ordered this little guy on Tuesday around new and by 1030am on Wednesday I had it...Newegg doesn't mess around.

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: (D40) Great lens, does what it says, good price. zoom takes great quality shots

Cons: has some problems auto-focusing, Doesn't always focus what I'm looking for. A little slow snapping photos, won't take photo if your too close.

Other Thoughts: Besides those problems, overall a great buy, especially for far away shots + you don't have to buy a new camera for a whole different purpose.

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable and Easy to Use.

Pros: Great lens for the price. Allows the amateur to get into the world of longer-distance photography without breaking the bank. Focuses plenty fast for most uses.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This lens actually *does* have vibration reduction (VR in the product description stands for Vibration Reduction).

4 out of 5 eggsDecent glass

Pros: Affordable, long reach.

Cons: No Vibration Reduction
Slow lens

Other Thoughts: The other reviewer mentioned low light performance, this is not a low light lens. This lens has a low maximum aperture of 4, zoomed in it is 5.6.

This lens is not intended to be used in low light without flash, and may have trouble focusing. Indoors usually counts as low light.

If you need decent low light performance look for a 2.8 (preferably 1.8 or faster) lens and even then you might have to bump the ISO to around 800.

3 out of 5 eggsAn OK lens

Pros: Pros were that it was useful for getting closer in for less when you couldnt get there on foot.

Cons: When used indoors it seemed kinda slow to focus to the point where it would miss some good moments. At times it wouldnt even take a picture.

Other Thoughts: As with most lenses, you get what you pay for. Most people will say spend as much as you can afford. I honestly would pass this lens up.
