5 out of 5 eggsGreat camera

This review is from: Canon Rebel SL1 8575B001 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: This camera is amazing. As a photography amateur, I really like the features. The body is light and features easy to use. My lens is canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, thus heavier than the body but no big deal. If you are looking for a small and good SLR, this camera is for you.

Cons: None for now...

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my needs

This review is from: Canon Rebel SL1 8575B001 Black 18.0 MP Digital SLR Camera - Body Only

Pros: Sensor allows for video autofocus
very small, lightweight
all current, standard Rebel line-up features
High ISO range

Cons: This camera is a crop sensor like all the other rebels. Know the difference between 1.6x crop sensors and full frame sensors before you buy a DSLR, as it has an effect on focal length when buying lenses.
This also has a somewhat different layout of buttons, it takes a little bit of work to get used to if you use lots of different cameras
Weight is so light shots can sometimes be shaky

Other Thoughts: I do lots of film work with DSLR's and I needed my own rather than borrow my Film Department's standard: a canon t3i that is heavily used by lots of other students. So I did some research and I decided on the SL1, Scratch that, My SL1. I had a 50mm f/1.4 USM lens lying in wait for this camera, so it does not dissapoint when it comes to superb image quality. The touchscreen is a nice addition as it provides somewhat of an extra set of buttons on your 3" screen to use. All of the features from a t4i crammed into the smallest DSLR in the world!
