This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

3 out of 5 eggsWorks As Expected

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

Pros: It's a flash drive--you plug it in and you transfer data. This has a lot of space and is priced very reasonably, so you can't fault it in that regard.

It also looks sharp and feels sturdy, minus the cap.

Cons: The transfer speeds are generally half of what is advertised. If it says "up to 50 mb/s" write speeds, that basically translates to "you might see a 50 mb/s spike in your lifetime."

It sometimes hangs at high 30s and low 40s, but it also drops into sub 1 mb/s for up to 5-10 seconds at a time pretty frequently, which I don't really understand. Especially since I'm transferring from a very fast SSD.

Other Thoughts: Ultimately, it's a functional product and I'm not dissatisfied. I think it's very reasonably priced and built well. We'll see how it holds up, since it's still new.

1 out of 5 eggsDead

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

Pros: Large and fast.

Cons: The first portable flash drive to ever fail on me. I didn't think these things could fail. I just thought most people were rough on their stuff and like to complain. But it is dead in thee coffin. I was only using it on my car CD player to play music files as well. I even thought it was the CD player and was about to buy a new player face online before I thought to test the drive. The drive is DEAD and wont read on any computer. All my music is lost.

1 out of 5 eggsDied in two weeks

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

Pros: Good looking case with fancy letters

Cons: Unreliable. The rest is irrelevant. Lasted 10 or so uses.

Other Thoughts: I risked by purchasing this drive even after reading reviews here and others reporting failures. Will not trust my data to this brand. To ADATA Support: What is the point of your lifetime warranty if your product is unreliable and can not be trusted? Would prefer money back and move on.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

Pros: Fast enough. Good value at the time. Mechanically sturdy.

Cons: Died after 9 months. Can't even be formatted.

Other Thoughts: I have had many USB drives over the years. I'm beginning to think that USB drives just aren't meant to stand up to regular long-term use (more than a few months to maybe a year or so). Not denying that some might work day after day for years but the odds of failure are pretty high.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

Pros: It's sturdy and works flawlessly. It does exactly what is says it will do. I don't bother benching stuff anymore. Subjectively it is more than fast enough for me. For convenience I did use it as a Windows 8 bootable install drive. I believe it ended up as a 4GB. When done I used the force option in diskpart and formatted back to 64GB. True for any drive under those circumstances. Different format worked fine and I did not experience the problems others have had. Last thought is that folks should not use any thumb drive as a sole backup device. I do backup an image to a second USB 3 hard disk every other day. I put a second copy of my important data on the thumb drive for rapid access is anything goes south. Be smart and realistic about what you use a thumb drive for.

Cons: Not a one.

Other Thoughts: Nice to have products that work as well or better than described. I would recommend to anyone.

2 out of 5 eggsNot bootable

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

Pros: This flash drive preforms at a 50mb/s speed at 90% of the time.
I like the product cause it did mostly what i needed. Just wasent bootable (read cons)

Cons: This device is not bootable. I wanted to run a form of linux on this, but when it got here it wouldent let me change it from exFAT. You can only go to exFAT, and NTFS. And when i format it to ntfs it just says error. I tried downloading a few programs, hoping they would let me format it to fat32. But they didnt work either.

Other Thoughts: For everyday user, to transfer files-It did its job. But for me I WOULD NOT BUY THIS. I dont know if all flashdrives dont let you format to fat32, but from what I saw on the internet you should be able to. Im dissipointed with the money i spent. I would ask for a return but im past the return date.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price Awsome Flash Drive

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

Pros: 64 GB and is built very sturdy unlike the other flash drives that you buy and they feel very cheap and easily breakable. Fast copying speed and I bought it to copy large 5+GB files to transfer. Will buy ADATA products in the future.

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsGreat USB 3.0

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro Advanced 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model AS102P-64G-RGY

Pros: Fast Data Transfer read 90MB/s
Aluminum Body
This is actually my first USB 3.0 stick. I needed a drive that could transfer a lot of data quick. It transferred 58GB of home videos to my computer within 11 minutes. I was very satisfied. With a normal USB 2.0 stick it would take 10X longer. I can look forward to transferring lots of large files in less time when going between computers.

I was afraid that the cap may fall off because it locks on effortlessly but it seems to stay in place quite well. Very sleek design. Feels very solid. Doesn't feel cheap.

Cons: None so far
