4 out of 5 eggsFantastic Value

Pros: This is actually a HP branded blu-ray reader / DVD writer inside a cheap plastic external enclosure. I took the drive out of the enclosure and popped it right into my new HP Elitebook. My Elitebook only came with a DVD drive. I wanted Blu-Ray. The same drive from HP costs more than $250.

Cons: no five eggs because the enclosure is goofy. It requires a separate power plug and the usb cable looks like it will fall out on its own. It looks like the whole enclosure cost about $2.

Other Thoughts: I took the USB to SATA board out and used it to put a slimline DVD drive in a HP ProLiant Microserver so i could put 5 hard drives into the MicroServer. Worked great. I really got my money's worth.

2 out of 5 eggsPlayer not working

Pros: great for on the go DVD's to watch and for use of an external drive when device in use does not have built in drive. Convenient size for portability and storage.

Cons: Unable to get the Blu-ray drive to work on any Blu-ray disc regardless of uninstall of drivers or finding different codecs to make it work as listed. It does mention that that the system in use must support and meet specs that does seem not to be the issue due to our computers are recently purchased but not one of them can play any Blu-ray disc at all. On the other hand our general experience is a partial one at best do to other rom discs fully functional makes me wonder if this is really a Blu-ray player. Really thinking of returning unit to just got and buy a slightly more known brand at a higher price.

Other Thoughts: Let me know if there is something I might be missing all info is welcome, but only to related topic.
