1 out of 5 eggsSoftware Will Not Install

This review is from: USB 3.0 PCI-e Express Card with 4 USB 3.0 Ports and 5V 4-Pin Power Connector for Desktops PCI Express Expansion Card Adapter (1 minute to upgrade your PC to USB3.0)

Pros: Price and the promise of 4 USB 3.0 ports.

Cons: Included drivers on mini CD. NO Instructions. Drivers will not install and become useful on my Win7 64 PC. I appreciate and have read the comments here and tried everything, but no go. 1 star for now since it simply does not work with the supplied drivers. Have I wasted my money?!!!

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 8.1x64 Dectected Card

This review is from: USB 3.0 PCI-e Express Card with 4 USB 3.0 Ports and 5V 4-Pin Power Connector for Desktops PCI Express Expansion Card Adapter (1 minute to upgrade your PC to USB3.0)

Pros: Connected on available PCI Express Port and 5V 4 Pin Connector to PSU. Booted and Windows 8.1 x64 OS detected USB 3 Card. Drivers were installed automatically using Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft) Driver Date 1/7/2014 & Driver Version 6.3.9600.16506. Did NOT use available MIni CD! Tested and works like a charm! So far Performance is up to par and throughput is consistent. Highly recommend this card to anyone who wish to add USB 3.0 capabilities.

1) 4 Fast USB 3.0 Ports
2) Solid Capacitors a big plus due to superior qualities. Higher end boards typically use Solid Capacitors and this was the main reason why I bought this one!
3) Good Price
4) Free Shipping

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: Took less than 5 minutes to install!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Item, Needs Better CD Install

This review is from: USB 3.0 PCI-e Express Card with 4 USB 3.0 Ports and 5V 4-Pin Power Connector for Desktops PCI Express Expansion Card Adapter (1 minute to upgrade your PC to USB3.0)

Pros: Works as intended, good USB 3.0 speeds

Cons: The Install CD has little to no instructions leaving you to guess which file is the correct one to install.

Other Thoughts: I would buy again and deal with guessing the driver install, it worked very well with Win 7 64x. Completed physical and software install within 10 minutes.

5 out of 5 eggshas NEC DP720201

This review is from: USB 3.0 PCI-e Express Card with 4 USB 3.0 Ports and 5V 4-Pin Power Connector for Desktops PCI Express Expansion Card Adapter (1 minute to upgrade your PC to USB3.0)

Pros: Werx great Win7x64sp1. Has has NEC DP720201 chip (not VIA). Win7 recognized card using an older NEC DP72xxxx driver I had from earlier 2 port card (Rosewill RC-505) but I updated anyway with enclosed CD with no problems. Has solid caps, unlike earlier Rosewill RC-505.

Cons: No cons at all.

Other Thoughts: imho, attach molex power cable before final insert into PCIe slot to avoid mechanical stress on card.

4 out of 5 eggsA bit tricky to install, but working fine so far

This review is from: USB 3.0 PCI-e Express Card with 4 USB 3.0 Ports and 5V 4-Pin Power Connector for Desktops PCI Express Expansion Card Adapter (1 minute to upgrade your PC to USB3.0)

Pros: 4 of the fastest USB ports, small size

Cons: not much in the way of online resources

Other Thoughts: I just got this in yesterday. I picked this out not for the USB 3, per se, but because it was cheap and provided 4 fully-powered USB ports.

The physical install went fairly smoothly. This one feels sturdier than other little PCI cards I've purchased. It takes an old-school MOLEX power input, which makes sense. I can't tell about the USB 3 speeds, but once I got the drivers installed, it immediately detected my USB devices, and it seems like it'll work just fine.

My only qualm is this -- most of the time when I'm installing a new component on my PC, I'm able to find the latest drivers by googling around. With this, there's not much of anything online, at least that I could find. The box comes with a mini-CD that has drivers for a bunch of different devices; easier from the manufacturer's perspective, no doubt, but confusing from mine. The pdf install instructions are in bad English, with screen captures from a Chinese machine.

Once I figured out which driver to install from the CD, the install went off without a hitch, and I'm up and running.

Here's the filepath for the driver that worked for me:
D:\USB3.0 NEC720202(01)\RENESAS-USB3-Host-Driver-30230-setup.exe
