Unleash your inner chef and enjoy the fragrant pleasure of hot panini sandwiches at home, without the crowds or hefty prices at your local bistro! The durable floating hinge of this contact grill adjusts the non-stick plates to press your sandwich, meat, or vegetables perfectly every time. The lower plate is slightly tilted toward the drip cup, so your sandwiches are never soggy. The embedded high-wattage heating element cooks food evenly, without scorching, and lets you know when it’s ready to cook with an indicator light.

The case stays cool to the touch as you cook, so your hands stay safe from burns. Its gleaming chrome finish wipes clean with a soft, damp cloth, and the plates steam clean by pressing a soaking wet paper towel in the unit as it cools. The unit has a built-in cord minder and stands on end for convenient storage. DeLonghi thoughtfully includes a recipe book to get you started making delicious panini, bruschetta, and spreads, though we’re sure you’ll be enjoying your own toasty, melty, mouth-watering creations in no time!

1 out of 5 eggsWon't heat up; no on/off switch

Pros: It has a nice grilling surface.

Cons: I just unboxed it, and it's been on, set to max temp, for over 20 minutes, and the ready light hasn't come on. I can lay my hand inside it and it's barely warm. Certainly not hot enough to cook anything. It's plugged into the outlet my stove was plugged into, so there's more than enough power. Perhaps the unit is defective?

There is no on/off switch. It sparks when I unplug it. Always-on units such as this are known to cause house fires from repeated unplugging while on. I wouldn't have bought it if I had known.

The user manual makes no mention of how long it takes to heat up.

The drain cup is cheap and just sets there by the corner. It's not attached in any way, so you can't move the machine at all without worrying about not being aligned with the cup.

The temperature gauge is cheap and loose, like something you'd find on a toy. This unit is a joke so far, and I'm having a hard time believing anyone could give it more than 3 stars, even if it worked.

Other Thoughts: Can I RMA this thing or exchange it? Not happy. Definitely not worth the $77.99 price tag when I bought it on 9/8/2012.

3 out of 5 eggsQuick cook, pain to clean

Pros: Quick, very even cooking. Nonstick

Cons: Cooking surfaces are not removable.

Other Thoughts: For the price this unit is superior. The heating element is heavy thus conducts heat evenly. Then it comes time to clean - the unit warns you about submersing, so the only way to clean it is to lay it across the top of the sink and try to balance it as you scrub it. I found the best way to clean after cooking meat (it grills steaks and chicken really well) is to heat it and use a nylon brush followed by a sponge.

3 out of 5 eggsGood grill/panini maker for a year or so

Pros: Makes good burgers and panini's

Cons: After using it a year and a half or so it started to leak grease, and to the point where it was a real mess to clean up.

Other Thoughts: It was a decent buy for $60 when I got it, just wish it wouldn't have leaked grease

5 out of 5 eggsTasty

Pros: Heats up quick (about 5 min) and is perfect for grilling in dorms or apartments (I am in a dorm). Also makes great sandwiches or panini's.

Cons: Grilling burgers makes a little bit to clean up, but then again using non-stick spray might prevent that. Not really a con cause what indoor grill doesn't require cleaning?

Other Thoughts: I can now make sandwiches or burgers that would cost $5-$8.
