1 out of 5 eggsThermal Carafe Unreliable

Pros: Was good while it worked. Makes good coffee and keeps it hot. Until the vacuum seal breaks and then it doesn't keep the coffee hot.

Cons: Thermal carafes do not last. I've owned 2.

Other Thoughts: First carafe lasted more than a year but then lost its thermal properties. Despite negative reviews, I bought a replacement which stopped keeping coffee hot after just a couple of months. Correspondence with Cuisinart for warranty service resulted in a total run-around and eventually they stopped responding. I used to think of Cuisinart as a quality brand, but no longer.

5 out of 5 eggslove this coffee maker

Pros: Makes great coffee and keeps it hot for hours without burning electricity or the coffee.
My first one has lasted 7+ years so far brewing 1 - 2 pots per day. The beeper to announce that the coffee is done brewing has been sounding sad lately so maybe it is dying??

Cons: The design has tight tolerances---if you do not seat the coffee basket just right it will puke coffee all over your counter.

Not sure this is really a con, but it is the only "problem" we've had and it took us a bit to realize why we were having problems. Now that we know, it has not been a problem since.

Other Thoughts: Fearing that Cuisinart would cease manufacturing this model, and knowing that our coffee maker won't last forever, we have purchased two more so we don't have to try and find a replacement that works as well.

2 out of 5 eggsDesign flaw ruins otherwise excellent product.

Pros: Brews excellent hot coffee when operating properly
Outstanding insulated carafe keeps coffee hot and fresh for hours

Cons: Design flaw limits life span of the coffee maker. After a couple of years of daily use, I began to notice small amounts of water on the counter around the coffee maker that slowly grew larger and larger over time. I finally realized that the coffee maker had a developed a leak and decided to take it apart to see if I could correct the problem. I discovered that the heating element was connected to the tank & hot water spout with two short pieces of what must be high temperature silicone tubing. One of the pieces of tubing had split open where it was connected to the tank allowing water leak out. I could not find any silicone tubing available locally so I attempted to repair it using vinyl tubing approved for hot water. That didn't work because the heating element gets too hot for vinyl tubing, so I just trashed the coffee maker and kept the carafe. Don't try this repair unless you have the proper tubing--it could result in a fire.

Other Thoughts: I assume that other Cuisinart coffee makers probably share this design weakness.

1 out of 5 eggsOverflows consistently

Pros: Keeps coffee hot for hours.

Cons: LCD screen icons difficult to see. Routinely pukes coffee all over my countertop and cabinets. I read all the bad reviews concerning this problem, and figured that this new, updated model had rectified this issue. The few that complained were likely losers, and doing something wrong. Me, being smarter than the average bear bought it anyway. I am now stock with a one hundred dollar piece of junk. I intend to contact Cusinart and expect to get no satisfaction from them. Then I will take this piece of trash and shoot it full of holes. At least it can help my marksmanship. A cheap Mr Coffee would have been better. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great. Very Durable. Great for Navy Peeps like me

Pros: Dureable, stays warms, doesn't require a burner to run and ruin your coffee. Good price (I got it from Newegg for $100) .

Cons: Nothing to mention, some plastic slightly damaged during shipping, not the products fault. I'm currently deployed on a carrier, so this is not uncommon. This does not reflect on the product, or Newegg.

Other Thoughts: like many other coffee makers, make sure the pieces are in correctly or you might have a mess on your hands. The cap to the Karaf will screw in cockeyed if you're not careful. ALso, if you use the wrong filter, be very careful. Mostly this is once again the not the products fault, rather the operator.

5 out of 5 eggsA wonderful coffee brew

Pros: It makes a terrific cup and the carafe keeps the coffee hot for a good amount of time. It brews rapidly, and I love the signal when the coffee is ready.

Cons: It requires a bit of attention when preparing for brewing. The cup containing the coffee must be inserted properly. Ditto for the thermal carafe. Every time there was a problem with overflow, it turned out to be our fault. It is not a negative comment - just some advice over a negative comment.

Other Thoughts: That said, it is well worth the effort. Don't know why anyone can complain about Newegg or Cuisinart. They are both great to do business with, especially on returns.

4 out of 5 eggsBest I have owned

Pros: Makes great coffee. I have owned a white one for over three years without one problem. Unlike other reviewers who comment about the long brew cycle, mine brews 10 cups in about ten minutes. The pre-program feature works well and the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours. I like mine so well that I just ordered two from NewEgg for my sons.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: None

1 out of 5 eggswatch out warranty

Pros: had one before and liked it but no more cuisinart products

Cons: carafe leaks and Cuisinart wants me to pay to send it back or send it back to egg head. either way $20 to ship it back so no more cuisinart products in my home. Brand new and they want me to be out another 20 dollars. should have just bought one locally!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Makes a great cup of coffee. Coffee stays warm in the carafe for at least 4 hours. Each cup is as fresh as the first, even hours later.

Cons: Not really a con, but brew cycle takes about 14 minutes. A long time when you are waiting on your first cup of the day.

Other Thoughts: Did not buy at Newegg.

2 out of 5 eggsGood coffee, poor engineering

Pros: Makes a good cup of coffee. Uses standard cone filters.

Cons: Does not stand up. After 2 years, it has cracks and flaws in the water tank area (but no leaks yet).
More importantly, you must line up the carafe properly or it overflows all over the counter and floor.
Craftsmanship is a 4/10
