Pros: 1TB HDD, web service for beginners is easy to use and setup. Has some control for RS 485 control, may put a dome camera on the system to try. (The system can control cameras with zoom and pan capabilities (PTZ)).
Cons: As goes with most Out of Box systems, the video feed cables are something to be desired, work ok though, will buy additional cable for future additions.
Other Thoughts: I like PoE IP cameras over dvr cams, you need a server though if you use IP Cams for recording, or a dedicated PC. You would also need a PoE switch or power injector to use a PoE IP Cam or run separate power supply.

Rating: 3/5Average DVR system
Pros: 1 TB HD, Power button, remote, all-in-one
Cons: Inferior wiring causes some static/hum bars. Used sheilded wiring for additional cameras and did not see issue.

Rating: 3/5Product's value is in features, not in quality of product or its components
Pros: The DVR itself features a 1TB built-in hard drive, an array of 8 cameras, infrared night vision, motion capture recording, web and mobile serving capabilities, and the ability to send email notifications when certian events occur. These features are where your going to find the most use, and value within the kit.
Really helpfull if you are installing these to set up the internet connection first, and then use a mobile device like a smartphone or a tablet to orient the cameras.
Cons: DVR resets itself when it crashes and continues to record when it starts back up - but it does crash. Web service seems spotty as well, though that may have to do with my my internet connection (still troubleshooting).
Cameras, mountings, and wires seemed to be rather low in quality. Hard to imagine that anything recorded would be admissable in a courtroom as nightvision is poor and daylight video records vegitation as either brown or red. Green housepaint is green, but all of my green shirts film as purple - maybe this is the infrafred, I dont know.
Web server is designed to be used with IE, however the manufacturer hasnt signd their active x control, and I can only seem to get the web service to work with Firefox or Android devices. Software that shipped with DVR does not work on my system (unable to connect). Motion capture is spotty (spiders and cats trip)
Other Thoughts: The DVR seems to be the strongest component of this system, the cameras and wires however - I dont expect them to last more than a couple of winters outdoors. Would recommend this unit for small businesses filming in controled areas with no wind, spiders, cats, etc... Would not recommend for outdoor use unless you plan to use a higher quality wire and know ahead of time that you will be replacing the cameras later on.

Rating: 2/5You get what you pay for.
Pros: Price. It is a 16ch with 8 cameras.
Cons: With out of box firmware you can only view 4 channels at once. The client software is slow and buggy. The IE active x client requires you disable IE security settings in order to make it work. Once I updated the firmware the windows client no longer worked and I was stuck using the IE interface. The update also broke the Mac and iphone clients. They claim their support is "worldwide 24x7 support." The truth is that its M-F 9-6 cst. I have yet to contact their support. If they resolve my issues I will update this review.
Other Thoughts: I have their previous 16 ch dvr, the one with hdmi out and it works great.

Rating: 5/5ZMODO 16 CH System
Pros: Super price for the whole system.
Performs better than I expected for the reasonable price.
Easy to connect. Decent cameras.
Everything worked out of the box.
Good, quiet power supplies. System was complete.
Motion detect record works great!
A LOT of system for the $$.
Cons: Manual is a bit abbreviated, but there are lots of Youtube and Zmodo videos to help --- so the manual really isn't a problem.
Other Thoughts: I had a couple questions. Emailed Zmodo. They quickly responded.
They even called me (yes, THEY INITIATED A CALL TO ME!) when they thought a phone call would provide a more productive answer to one of my questions.
I was not expecting this excellent level of support from a system priced in this range.
Have already recommended it to several friends.
