2 out of 5 eggsScreen no longer turns on

Pros: Pictures looked fine.

Cons: The screen stopped turning on after a little under a year. I got it for my parents last Christmas and they told me it stopped working last month.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst piece of tech I ever owned

Pros: It supports SD and USB

Cons: This digital photo frame is utter ****. Viewing angles are terrible, colors are even worse. Screen quality is absolutely pathetic, which is not what one would expect from a specialized device to show pictures. Processor must be really slow, it takes ages to display a 5 mega-pixel image, it couldn't load a single 14 mega-pixel JPEG image in 5 minutes. I expected to eject an SD card from my camera and put it in the frame to enjoy the pictures that I've taken. Not possible.

Other Thoughts: I would strictly advise against buying it. Even 80 bucks Chinese Android tablet would do a better job.

4 out of 5 eggsA really nice picture frame and the price was right.

Pros: Nice picture with a bright display. Easy to use.

Cons: The remote could be a bit larger. There is no way to change the orientation of photos that display in the wrong direction (I am speaking of files where the photo is turned on end to begin with). It could use some more editing options on the picture frame itself in case the photo comes out different on the frame than on your computer screen. The pre-loaded sample pictures must be manually removed while the frame is connected to your computer otherwise they will be part of the slide show with your own pictures. Needs a better stand/support.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a Christmas gift for my brother so he could have photos of his grand kids on display. I had a hard time finding a frame in the 10-inch category that wasn't overly pricey or that had bad user reviews.

While I was unable to find all that many reviews for this frame those I did find were generally positive. That combined with the fact that my computer monitor is a Viewsonic had me feeling this would likely be a good purchase.

I had bought my parents a 10-inch digital frame from Brookstone a year or so back. While the Brookstone frame is nice this Viewsonic is far better when it comes to image quality. The Brookstoone frame is best when viewed directly. The Viewsonic is fairly clear even when viewed at an angle. There are some photos that do not show on the frame. I am assuming that the files are damaged. It would be nice if there were an option to delete such files within the picture frame's menu. However. the only way to delete pictures is by having the frame connected to your computer. The issue with that is the pictures do not show as damaged or unable to be seen when viewing them on the computer (in this case the computer sees the picture frame as an external drive).

I have not had much experience using this frame (it arrived 6 days ago but I only now decided to put photos on it to have them pre-loaded for my brother on Christmas). However, I would definitely recommend this frame. Especially if you can get it on sale for around $70.

I should mention that the screen dimensions are not quite like that of an 8X10 or 5X7. The display is a bit narrow compared to typical photo configurations (if you were to compare it to an 8x10 the screen would be more like 7x10 or even 6 and a half x 10.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: Looks ok but after I inspected the wood frame thoroughly I found a chip that was painted over. So not really a pro afterall...

Cons: Defective on arrival. The unit turns on and displays the preinstalled photos but it has a red vertical line about an inch from the left side of the screen. Remote does not seem to operate (but I did not remove it from the plastic package because I was going to return it). Buttons on the back work but the response is very slow and somewhat random.
