Pros: NONE

Cons: DIED just about at the two year warranty status

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well as stated

Pros: Small- as small as you'd expect a 2 or 4gig flash drive to be. LOVE the little tiny blue activity light, which can be seen from ANY direction! Most drives have a light on one side, or none at all. Loaded 29.6 GB of music on it, have 100mb free. Yes, it only formats to 29.7GB, but that's because of the file system of any drive- google it!

Cons: Nope!

Other Thoughts: Basic speed tests show about 5mb/sec write, 18mb/sec read. Using HDTune free and Windows7 copy. Not a speed demon, and it'll take a while to write 32GB to the drive, but hey, it's cheap and it works great. About the same speed as all my other flash drives. It replaced a pair of 16GB flash drives, freeing up a USB port and freeing up 2 flash drives for other use.

2 out of 5 eggsVery Slow

Pros: It works and is cheap.

Cons: Extremely slow. Highest transfer speed Ive seen when writing MP3s to it is 5MB/s and for the most part its under 4MB/s. My Mushkin drives are in the 13-14s in the same testing.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for with this. Spend the extra on a Mushkin drive to save your self a lot of time.

5 out of 5 eggsReasonably Priced and Fast

Pros: Fast, good price

Cons: No lanyard or file recovery utilities

Other Thoughts: I have a bunch of other flash drives and using real world file transfers, the 32GB Memorex TravelDrive is my fastest. I typically get about 11MB/second write rate and about 26MB/second read rate. My 16GB San Disk Cruzer is about 1/2 the speed of this drive.

I can't comment about the MemorexLock feature because I have never used it and do not have a need for a secure partition.

Watch the prices on this drive because they are all over the map. I paid a little over $1/GB for mine.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent for the price

Pros: I needed a cheap 32GB flash drive for low use purposes, which also provides data protection and this drive does the job.

Cons: 1st drive died within a few weeks, with very little use. Memorex replaced it quickly without any big hassle, I did pay to ship it to them, they provided a brand new replacment drive not a refurb.
I don't like the cap, I'm always worried I'll lose it.

Other Thoughts: If you're after a fast USB drive this may not be what you want, but it does store 32GB of data and is very small/convenient. Its not dog slow either, I think I'm getting 9MB/sec transfers.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than Expected

Pros: I wanted a 32 gig drive that was solidly built and this one is solid. Unlike the drives with the sliding cover nothing moves on this drive but the cap.

This looks very much like the Mushkin Mulholland which I have in a 16g size and like because of the minimal look and tiny blue LED. Not bright at all, but this could be a con if you use it under a bright light.

It has a nice eyelet for a lanyard.

Cons: Might as well throw the cap away and get it over with. You will lose it eventually.

An eyelet but no lanyard! I don't need it but come on... would it have hurt Memorex to throw in a 3 cent string with a 42 dollar drive?

Other Thoughts: This drive is NOT the slug I expected.

It may not be as fast as some other drives but it's not that bad. It came formatted as FAT32 and was left FAT32 because that is what my MS SYNC Radio requires for thumb drives.

Formatted = 29.7 gigs free. Please Google up a storage FAQ if you expect to see 32g of free space.

Transferring 14.3 gigs of MP3's to this drive I got 14MB\sec. at the start followed by a flat 11.2MB\sec. for the remaining 1700 files.

As a test I copied the same files to my Mushkin Mulholland and got 13.5MB\sec. - 13.2MB\sec. start to finish.

The Memorex came in ~2MB\second slower than the Mulholland. Not a big deal as far as I’m concerned.

The speeds are almost identical for the first minute or two, so unless you are moving several gigs at once it may not be a big deal to you either.

I was ready to settle for a slow drive because I wanted something inexpensive that would hold thousands of MP3's. This little drive works great!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Small size that works perfect for my car stereo.
Decent transfer speed (1.5 GB in about five minutes).
Low Price.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to use in the USB port on my car stereo. As usual, Newegg was great, had the lowest price, and shipped extremely fast. I was looking for a small drive, so it doesn't stick out too much from the stereo, and this drive is pretty small. It seems to work quickly, doesn't have any issues, and comes with security software on the drive (including documentation). Nothing astounding, but a good buy for the price.
