5 out of 5 eggsThese Work!

Pros: Unlike all the cheap knockoffs that I acquired from another online merchant, these ELM327 adapters actually do work. I've tried both the big black ones and the tiny blue ones, and none of them would talk to any of my vehicles (Honda, Chevy, GMC, Pontiac). This one works in them all with Torque on my Galaxy Note II running CyanogenMod 11.

Cons: They aren't smaller? I wish I could get one that worked that was very low profile, my OBDII port on my '02 S10 sits right above the clutch and my large foot keeps knocking it off. But I'd rather have functionality over form.

Other Thoughts: I dunno what the people were doing that gave these bad reviews, must not be able to configure software correctly.

1 out of 5 eggsCouldn't get software to install, was refunded

Pros: It's cheap, and will probably work with the right software.

Cons: The software on the included CD did not work. Per the instructions, I'm supposed to install this BlueSoleil bluetooth software, but it would error out when installing on several Windows 7 computers. I tried using Windows's own bluetooth software and got the thing detected and the COM port mapped, but when I installed the ScanTool.net software on the CD, it wouldn't detect the device.

Tried downloading the latest version of ScanTool.net from their website, and it actually did detect the device, but then said that I was using an unlicensed unofficial scanner.

Other Thoughts: I contacted Neweegg and explained the problem, and that I'd tried several computers, so it sounds like something is wrong with the software. They then suggested that I try another computer. I pointed out I just said I already tried that. They issued me a refund.

5 out of 5 eggsThis One Works!!!

Pros: After ordering a few similar ones from another site that didn't work at all. this one has worked on several cars and works great with "Torque" on my Note 3. I have used it on a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, 2012 Mazda 5, and a 2012 Toyota Corolla. I was able to read and clear code on the Jeep. didn't have any on the others.

Cons: none so far.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Works (Mostly)

Cons: Trouble connecting, virus laden CD, not as good as some. Too many errors

Other Thoughts: Works (although I often have to disconnect and connect it from the car 4-5 times to get it to pair, this happens with more than one device). Logs about an error per second with Torque, a good device logs 0 ever. I was able to read/clear codes and get some useful information while driving.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with 2003 Chevy S-10

Pros: It works when connected to my Droid Razr running Torque Pro and gives more diagnostic and performance readings than a more costly stand-alone OBD-II unit would. It's not perfect, but it's a good enough value that I can easily recommend it for those looking to use it as I have on their personal vehicle(s).

Cons: I don't know if the unit, the app, or the phone is at fault but the Bluetooth fails to automatically connect when the vehicle is started and app is initiated (I surmise it is the former as other BT devices haven't had the same issue). This isn't a big problem for me (and I haven't tried hard to remedy it) as I utilize the device mostly as a diagnostic tool rather than supplementary gauge package, just keep this in mind if you decide to use it for performance monitoring on the fly. It is also a little larger than I expected, but again this isn't a big problem for me (it remains hidden fairly well and hasn't fallen off/lost connection after being plugged into the vehicle since it arrived about a month or so back). If you are a professional working in the automotive repair industry this product is probably not for you.

Other Thoughts: In short I find it to be a good value for the vehicle I purchased it for. Makes running diagnostic test quick, easy, and convenient and gives me additional features that a moderately priced stand-alone unit wouldn't. I'm happy with it and would recommend it to anyone that wants to use it with their smart-phone, tablet, or laptop (haven't tried the latter options). Note that I haven't yet attempted to connect it to any other vehicle (2003 Chevrolet S-10 Xtreme 4.3L V6, 4spd. Auto), so I am unable to verify its usefulness in other applications. Additionally, do not expect this device to give you precision readouts like a $3k Mac-tools OBD-II computer, but expect it to perform as well or [in my experience] exceed the performance of a OBD-II reader that you can purchase for sub-$250 (like those sold and used by most automotive parts chains). I would also highly recommend pairing this with Torque Pro as I did as it has been a very useful and simple to set up/operate application for the average end-user.

5 out of 5 eggsGet's the job done.

Pros: Works out of the box with the Torque Pro Android app as well as all the others I played with... which if you buy this I'd highly encourage getting Torque ($5) as well.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Seller sent me the wrong item, but owned up to it with no fuss. I ended up buying the item from them instead of shipping it back because it was pretty cool.

Would order from them again.

Pairing code was 1234

5 out of 5 eggsThumbs up

Pros: Got it working and connected to my Samsung Note II. Found two items not ok in my truck.

Cons: have to go hunt the web for the decoder ring when codes appear.

Other Thoughts: for what I paid $19, it was well worth it then taking my car to the dealer. Nice to see "real time" data from the ECU.
