4 out of 5 eggsIt actually works

Pros: Using the receiver on win7-64bit, works great after following the instructions video.

Cons: The product is different than the one in the pictures, I chose this one because of the design so I'm taking an egg for that.

It's not plug-n-play, however the description comes with the warning and instructions.

4 out of 5 eggsNow I don't have to throw away all my old Controllers

Pros: This device allows you to use your wireless xbox 360 accessories on a PC wirelessly like they were meant to be used. So far I have tested the controllers and a wireless earpiece on it and they work without a hitch.

Cons: Microsoft created this device as part of their Games for Windows initative and when it failed to take off quitely have tried to sweep it under the rug. Unfortunately you will have to download them from Microosftw website and install the drivers manually or it will not work because the drivers are no longer "Windows Certified". How long this device will continue to be supported in this way is anyones guess.

4 out of 5 eggsMinimal work for the good price

Pros: It works, no issues or hiccups once installed.
Good price.
Fast shipping from this seller, at least for me.

Cons: Not plug and play, as everyone else will tell you. If you're the kind of person shopping around for this instead of going to Wally World or Best Buy and throwing out $40 or whatever they want, you shouldn't have much of a problem getting the drivers working for this.

Other Thoughts: If you want great gamepad play for your pc, this is the way to go! Very happy I grabbed it, breathed new life into my emulators and steam.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: * Cheap
* Fairly quick delivery for not being sold and shipped by New Egg. Fine packaging. Arrived in good condition.
* Came with mini CD which contained drivers. (More about this down in Other Thoughts)
* Lightweight, small, easy to plug in and hide away if desired
* Fairly long USB cable length. You should have plenty of slack to plug this in a USB slot on the backside of a tower and run it around to the front or on a shelf.
* While it was immediately recognized by the computer as a new USB device, the driver was not automatically figured out. I already knew it was not going to auto-negotiate the driver. Once I picked the correct driver, it worked as advertised. (This was very easy.)

Cons: * Took a day or two longer than my ShopRunner account, though that's not really anyone's fault. I just felt like this box should be populated. ;)

Other Thoughts: I was worried about purchasing this device. Not extremely worried, but I had shifty eyes after going through the previous comments and seeing how many write-ups had been done about using a generic USB wireless receiver for Xbox 360 controllers. I thought it was going to be a driver nightmare.

Much to my surprise, I was able to plug it in, locate the driver referenced the write-up on the "Overview" tab of this item, and tell it OK. I grabbed the driver, and I was up and running.

Please note that I was prepared to troubleshoot this sucker if something had gone wrong (which I was expecting). Luck was on my side and I did not have to. Also know that previously I had used a wired Xbox 360 controller on my tower, so it DID have those drivers installed. I did NOT uninstall the wired drivers before plugging in this receiver.

From my experience, this was a smooth transition from a wired Xbox 360 controller, to a wireless Xbox 360 controller.

I am not using a play-n-charge kit. Plain old AA batteries.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with windows 8

Pros: Works with windows 8 and steam.

Cons: It was a pain to install. You have to install Microsoft's software then find the unknown usb device in device manager and update driver, browse, choose from list, choose the newest wireless receiver. Probably took twenty minutes to figure it all out. Also I don't think Microsoft's 360 software works with windows 8, I saw the window for it once but never again.

Other Thoughts: Sucks Microsoft stopped making this. Not sure if I will upgrade to the Xbox one controller if this can get me by.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Steam games

Pros: I was looking for an inexpensive way to get a controller to work with Steam games. Mostly Grid 2 and Dark Souls. Since I already had several wireless Xbox 360 controllers this was a cheaper than buying another Xbox 360 controller for Windows. It works great on my Windows 8 64 bit system.

Cons: As others have mentioned the drivers installation is horrible and tricky. The disc it came with is useless. I had to search the internet for "how to install a wireless Xbox 360 controller on Windows 8"

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Works great, no problems so far. Seems well made.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: For anyone having problems getting this to work, first look at this link.

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/pc-games/xbox-controller-for-windows-setup

Make sure you follow the wireless controller section.

A few thing to note:
- Make sure you have the wireless device driver loaded and not the wired. My laptop had the wired drive installed by default, I had to manually install the driver for the wireless adapter from the link above.
- Make sure you are using a powered USB port. If it doesn't work try another port. It only works on one of my USB ports.
