2 out of 5 eggsNot so good as it looks or the name suggests.

Pros: Heavy seemingly durable design. Price and ALPS name make it seem like a good choice for a basic keyboard.

Cons: This keyboard simply does not work well. The keys are creaky and have a LOT of stiction when depressed making typing frustrating. It is plasticky and noisy, with the keys lacking any tactile feel. The keyboard had several keys stop working all together a short time after I started using it. Now, the enter key sticks down, and stay down till you shake the keyboard to release it.

Other Thoughts: My experience says to stay away from this keyboard. ALPS used to mean "quality" but not so much any more. They make and sell models at a price point that hurts their reputation.

Yes, they did offer to "fix" the keyboard verse replace it. Sometimes it has to work first time and every time or the cost just isn't worth it to send it back ($$$) with the wait. And fixing verses replacing further added doubt to the experience. I trashed it and am looking again.

I had an older NMB brand keyboard for 15 years that worked excellently until it was goofed-up in a moving van box. I guess they don't make them like that anymore. Key silk screening wearing off in just a year, poor tactile feel ETC. Is making a poor quality item doing the planets resources any good?

I give it two stars IF IT WORKS. Some must, so that's my rating. With keys sticking down and not working at all, it can't even rate one star.

5 out of 5 eggsNo-Nonsense Mechanical Keyboard

Pros: - Fast, consistent mechanical key action.
- Solid, heavy construction.
- USB cord, but comes with adapter to PS/2.

Cons: The layout is a little unusual these days, with small backspace key and backslash on the top row. I got used to it in about 10 minutes of typing though.

Other Thoughts: A few things which could be either pro or con depending on your taste:

- VERY NOISY to type on, just like the old IBM/Apple IIe days.
- No logo, no extra media keys.

As others have noted, this doesn't ship from China. Mine came from Phoenix, AZ in 3 days on cheap shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price!

Pros: Mechanical - The keys have a light touch with good feedback. Major and noticeable improvement over plastic dome keyboards.
Affordable - You really can't beat the price.
Construction - This thing is SOLID. It weighs about twice that of your average plastic freebie keyboard. Pretty sure it's all plastic chassis, but it honestly feels like metal.
Fast - Guess this just comes with the territory on the mechanical keyboards

Cons: There are two major issues that keep this from being a 5-egg review:
1. It's loud. You have to expect some noise with any mechanical keyboard, but the chassis on this thing is like a speaker cabinet... I may open her up and stuff it with cotton balls or something.
2. The backspace key. Check the pictures closely before you buy a keyboard. In this case, the backspace key is the same size as your alpha-numerics... I tend to hit the right side of the normal double-wide backspaces, so it doesn't bother me, but I would caution anyone considering this for purchase to make sure it's going to work for you. Overall, if you're switching from a piece-of-junk keyboard, you will type better and won't have to use the backspace key as much anyway and it's not too hard to adjust.

Other Thoughts: The shipping notes it's being shipped from overseas for some reason (and 5-15 days). I ordered mine on Monday, got it on Saturday (despite severe weather). It was shipped from California, not overseas.
