The Olympus SP-570 UZ gives you SLR-quality performance, and point and shoot convenience, all in one camera. With the built-in 26-520mm super-telephoto lens, you'll have all the lens power you need to capture everything from rolling landscapes to insects strolling among the dewdrops on a leaf. Your images will be crisp and bright, even when you crop and enlarge, thanks to the SP-570 UZ's 10MP sensor.

Shoot in full automatic mode, or take creative control with manual ISO adjustments up to 6400, and exposure down to 1/2000 second. With a burst rate of 13.5 frames per second, you'll get every water droplet flying through the air at your kids' next swim meet, the dust flying off your husband's bat as he hits his next home run, or the shower of rice falling on the bride and groom as they leave their wedding.

When you're shooting indoors, it's easy to add an external flash with the SP-570 UZ's hot shoe, or use the optional wireless flash (sold separately). Face detection technology can automatically focus on a subject's face and adjust exposure for a perfect portrait. No matter what you're shooting, the dual image stabilization compensates for your movements and those of the subject, to give you sharp images even in challenging conditions. The Olympus SP-570 UZ is versatile enough to satisfy both the serious photographer and the casual snapper.

3 out of 5 eggsSlow Shutter Button Response

Pros: Good white balance and sharp picture under good light condition.

Cons: The shutter button response is very slow. The shutter button takes few seconds to turn on the shutter and the flash. Under room light condition, it is impossible to take any moving object prictures because the shutter response cannot catch up with the moving object. Under low light condition, the camera becomes trash. Can't take any filter without a lens adapter.

Other Thoughts: I wish I tested it before I bought it. Better get a DSLR camera.

4 out of 5 eggsSteve

Pros: Fantastic camera for the price. The various modes rival high-end SLR's. The use of AA batteries is a plus - you don't need proprietary batteries. The camera itself is light weight and should be easy to use for for all camera enthusiasts, from beginner to advanced.

Cons: The manual focus mode can be a little tricky, but not really a "minus" for this camera. But it does take a little practice. The only real con I can think of is what some other reviewers have noted - can't put a filter on the lens.

Other Thoughts: Read the manual! I found that adjusting the white balance under flourescent light sometimes shifts the colors toward blue.

Pros: It is very easy to use and the zoom is like using a normal 35mm zoom. All of the features of my first Olymus were there and more. Very easy to get used to. I would recommend this to anybody who wants to use a top quality camera that doesn't cost a fortune. Really good value for the money.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I had used a Canon AE1 for 20years and this is better than that was. Superb all the way around.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Camera!

Pros: I'm semi-beginner and not a pro but i do know what I like and this Olympus Camera is it! Great pictures outdoors and Great pictures using the Macro and Super Macro mode indoors. Camera feels solid and comfortable holding it. The 20x Zoom, face technology and Image stabilizer are awesome. I think I'm gonna enjoy learning all the features that this Camera has to offer, though I know its gonna take time.

Cons: I'm sure it has one or two, but no camera is perfect (though this one comes darn close).

Other Thoughts: I took it to work and I made a friend who has the Olympus SP 560 very envious (because of some newer and extra features) and I now have a few other friends leaning towards the purchase of this Camera. I purchased this late on Sunday evening and it was on my door step early Wednesday morning! At the same time I also purchased a 1GB and a 2GB M+ xD cards (which are faster reading cards) and they work great. Seems I'll be purchasing a few more cards (as soon as I can decide on a decent Tri-Pod). Because of the great prices and fast delivery here at Newegg, I'll be a repeat customer!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat camera w/tons of features & excellent quality and value, but cumbersome interface

Pros: Sooo many pro's - extreme range of ISO, shutter speed, and zoom/focus levels. Longest zoom and largest CCD. Panorama function is great, and macro shot are perfect. SuperMacro function is very useful. The "My Setting" feature is promising, but.....see cons. The pre-exposure feature is also nice if you want to apply an "artificial" filter without lugging any around. Large lcd screen, and bright & clear. Overal design is great. Fairly compact for the capabilities it has. High speed capture settings are bountiful and amazing, but yield lesser quality results than single shots. Smile recognition is really neat, could be very useful. Outputs realtime video streaming through usb - very useful in capturing shots not possible with a dslr. printing and slideshow output capabilities are astounding. Overall digital interfacing design is great. Takes good flash shots, also - though i wouldn't reccomend it. Overall its 3x better than a compact, almost as good as a dslr, & price is rite

Cons: Worst aspect of camera: manual zoom function. If you must have a DSLR-like focus/zoom, avoid this. If you can rely mostly on autofocus, then this camera is it. The manual focus function simply takes waayyy too long to make adjustments. It's a very technologically advanced system, but cumbersome. Zoom is choppy and sometimes unresponsive if batteries low. It does consume batteries fairly quick since everything is motorized (zoom, focus, etc). Long zoom and nighttime shots are a bit grainy, moreso than I would like, but I'm still experimenting with the billion settings. If the "my setting" feature worked perfectly it wouldn't be so bad, but its awfully difficult to set the parameters manually and get good results.

Other Thoughts: The price-to-performance aspect for this camera beats any competition, even Olympus's own. Just beware that some things aren't as easy as an ole' dslr. The telephoto zoom and the adaptor & filters aren't much of an addition considering the cost, though they can give limited improvements in zoom, color depth, & light filtering. Get a good tripod w/a smooth movement head.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera!

Pros: My third digital Olympus - and the best! Started with a 2 then 3 Mpix 10 years ago and just traded another brand 9 mPix I liked for this - and it is an improvement all around!

To compare to a good camera I liked for 2 years - and why this Olympus is better when not just as good:
-500mm zoom is 10x optical and is better than 300mm
-Image stabilizer allows good shots at full zoom
-8 ounces lighter and smaller
-the JPG files are smaller and clearer at 10m than 9Mpix
-the Menu and Function interface is much clearer and has better options - intuitive and adjustable
-Like my first units the Olympus Panorama is GREAT! Buy their xD cards to use this feature!

I got a Cannon 35mm 10 years ago and have been waiting for one of their digital SLR's to be good enough to let me use those old lenses - this 4th compact "SLR LIKE" unit is full featured for my needs at less than the cost of a good lens - half the cost of a body - but no sensor cleaning

Cons: - the xD card isn't the biggest or fastest for data storage

- that SUPER ZOOM and fast F lens make it very 'dynamic' so fitting it with filters is problematic. Just like the old 2020 and 3030 filters don't fit the lens - only a body mounted extension - but his lens and extension don't work 26mm to 60mm without 'vignette'.

- getting a low light focus can be tough, or on a distant foggy mountain

- Still need a tripod at night - 520mm in low light doesn't stabilize the same as in the daytime - imagine that.

Other Thoughts: I read the 10 reviews posted before mine and all the Pros are accurate from my experience - I tried not to duplicate.

The only major cons as noted - no bad surprises.

I've not done all with this camera I did with my last camera in the short time I've had it - but the improved optical zoom will let me get pictures on my local Eagles better than before. And with the 5Mpix and 3Mpix FAST continuous drive I'll get more action shots of the same/better resolution than I used to get when I cropped out to the top of 80 foot trees at 9Mpix.

And the things I did do were more intiutive and the buttons give good access to menu adjustments when you need them.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the price

Pros: Ton of features. I especially like the super micro setting. You can literally touch the lens to the subject. Then on the other hand the zoom is good too.

Cons: Like everyone else has mentioned, no easy way to attach filters. All plastic but isn't everything these days?

Other Thoughts: I use to be heavy into photography back in the day of film. I used a totally manual 35mm SLR. I had a slew of lenses and a large bag to carry everything except my tripod. I remember onetime ruining several rolls of film because I left them on my dash in my car.
This camera does about everything my old SLR did and for less money to boot. And I'll never have to worry about leaving a memory card on my dash.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bought camera for my significant other. She had a canon rebel 35 mm which takes great pictures. This camera takes pictures with equal quality with the added benefits of digital. Guide is easy to use as long as you read owners manual. Zoom is unbelievable. Great Camera.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Olympus makes good cameras.
