1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work as supposed

Pros: Good home wireless hard drive

Cons: I can only connect on the home network. From an outside nework, I do get the user interface but it doesn't accept my password, so I cannot get access to my data.
Asked for support. They just told-me port 80 must be opened. That, I knew, port 80 WAS opened and I dit get the UI! Since that time, they do not even answer my quetions: support = zero+zero+zero!

2 out of 5 eggsDoes the job but blue blink of death is too frequent

Pros: Works well when it's working, and interface is relatively straightforward. Good price.

Cons: All too frequent blinking blue LED of death. I've bought ten of these units, and all of them are out of warranty. Of the ten, four are already useless because they will no longer turn on.The power light just blinks forever. You can browse the manufacturer's forums and see the problem happens frequently and most of the time turns out to require scrapping the box or sending it back for paid replacement..

Would be cool if firmware supported 5TB and 6TB drives.

Other Thoughts: I won't buy D-Link NAS units again until I've tried at least two other brands. If I'm happy with their reliability, great. If I ultimately wind up disappointed with them also, then I might give D-Link another try.

2 out of 5 eggsLasted a year, hope my data is intact.

Pros: Convenience of a NAS device. Easy to setup.

Cons: First time I unplugged it to move it, when I tried to turn it on the power light just blinked.. no fan, no HD spinup. I turned it off and on a few times and it eventually started within a few tries. Second time I moved it same deal... took quite a few more ties to start. Third time moved... well, I've been turning if off and on for about 20 minutes and nada. I guess it's finally bricked. Hope my data is still OK.

1 out of 5 eggsDNS-320L

Pros: Does some things OK, not great

Bought from Newegg about a year and half ago.

Cons: Does not do much of what is says well. I have not been able to use as a file share device, and I have it working with uPNP DLNA video until the last update which now that does not work at all. I would look at other brands.

D-Link support is not great, every ticket I open was factory reset for format the drives to fix the problem, which it never did. Their tech support is not very helpful.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a Great Buy!!!

Pros: I already had 3 of these Storage bays. Each one has two 3tb Seagate Barracuda drives. Very happy with the setup and, at this time, do not really have a storage issue. A few weeks ago, I installed a new ASUS AC-1750 router and it crossed my mind that these bay storage systems were getting more expensive all the time and, if one of my bays went down, I would not have a backup.

So, since I had two new Seagate Barracuda 4tb drives that I purchased from NewEgg, I decided I would get anothe ShareCenter and add that mix to my system.

When I installed my current units, I had to download a patch from D-Link so that Windows could recognize a 3tb drive. I also had to use the Disk Manager to format and configure the drives. So, after I installed the 4tb drives in this unit, I was very pleased that the D-Link Installation app was easy to use, formatted the drives and installed them in windows in a matter of minutes.

For the price, I do not believe you can beat this ShareCenter. If you want more than a two drive setup, the price of the bay units escalates very fast. If you want a four drive system, using two of these is less expensive than most four bay units. Also, I feel that it gives you more flexibility and security. If all your drives are in one unit and it goes down, what do you do? Therefore, I prefer to have redundant units rather than one big box.

The units have a built-in fan to keep them cool. They can be attached directly to your PC or to your router for a neat network

I would recommend these units to anyone looking a reliable, easy to use, inexpensive way to increase the storage capacity of their network (system).

Cons: I really do not have any "cons". I now have 4 of these units and am very pleased.
I did have a "password" issue during the install but found it easy to overcome. In fact, it was so easy that I had forgotten about it until I read one of the previous reviews.
I also had problems with them dropping of my network but it turned out to be a router issue. I replaced a D-Link router with the ASUS AC-1750 and have not had any issues.
This will turn out to be more of a "pro" than a "con". I used to experience slow data transfers and loss of connection as mentioned in a previous review. However, when I installed an ASUS AC-1750 router (replaced a D-Link), the issue went away. The units never drop off the network and data transfers are a breeze. Since retiring from IT, I have become a photographer and deal with a lot of very large, "raw" photo files. I do find it common for the units to appear to be offline because Windows will display the status with the "red X" as if they are off-line. But, if you click on the drive, it is, in fact, on-line and will open.

Other Thoughts: I am going to buy one and just have it on hand in case one of my current units goes down. You cannot beat it on a price, performance basis. I also noticed that NewEgg has a package deal with a 3tb SeaGate drive that is a great buy. But, I would also go ahead and fill the second bay.

1 out of 5 eggsNot impressed

Pros: Simple, has many nice features, mostly reliable

Cons: Has connection issues with large file transfers, random drops, slow performance. The recycle bin feature appears to not work as I have hundreds of GB lost to a recycle bin I cannot access or empty and support from D-Link is terrible. I have contacted them twice with no responce to my troubles.

Other Thoughts: Look elsewhere, I should have sent them back while I still had the chance.

4 out of 5 eggsGood and Bad System

Pros: Fantastic features including a wizard that sets up a website to access your storage from the internet. Nice GUI menu structure. Firmware is similar to FreeNAS and NAS 4Free but with easier and faster to setup. You don't need to build PC with the expense of CPU, memory and a case.

Cons: The box I received had password and setup issues. After 3 days of repeated resets I finally got the box to setup. When I tried to make changes, the menus in the Windows-GUI failed to function. A complete reset was required erasing the setup options and HD. I returned the system to Newegg for exchange. and ordered another.

Other Thoughts: Because of the fantastic features this box promises to be a great 2nd home server. I hope the replacement functions Ok.

3 out of 5 eggsOK - Not Great

Pros: Small, quite, low power, low noise. Has many nice features. DLNA/uPnP works, with some issues, NFS & FTP support. User access control, supports large drives 3TB/4TB.

Cons: While UPnP/DLNA is in use the server peak out at 100% CPU and becomes not very useful for anything else. Tends to drop connections both from my Windows 7 x64 & my Windows 2003 server during large file transfers of many files. D-Link has me reset, to see if that corrected it. I am dissappointed, my next NAS may by a Synology.

Other Thoughts: Also bummed as after I bought this the 3TB drive went on Shell Shocker deal for $40 less.
