1 out of 5 eggsCOMPLETE GARBAGE...STAY AWAY!!!

Pros: They look cool.

Cons: Unless Newegg simply turned around and sent back my original order, these headphones have a design flaw. Any movement of the cable causes the audio to cut in and out between a mono and stereo like feed. I just figured the first pair had a short in the cable. The replacement pair had the exact same problem.

This was tried with two different computers and three different cell phones. It isn't a port issue on the connecting device.

Other Thoughts: When the cable was in just the right position the sound was pretty good, and I was really hoping that the first pair was just a fluke.

I hate to do it, but I'm just going to have to take the grandson down to Best Buy and let him try the headphones they have in their gamers section.

5 out of 5 eggsOne more Thing to Add

Pros: A lot. Already stated in previous review.

Cons: Non

Other Thoughts: One thing I forgot to mention. The mic and sound plugs are not color coded and people complain about it because they are both red. If you look closely the connector rings on the plugs are actually color coded. I pay attention to small details like that. So just look and the plug and go buy a pair. What are you waiting for!

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Raptor Headset

Pros: Wow! I feel like I hit a homerun! Great sound quality, looks sharp and extremely comfortable. The best thing is that I got them on sale for $25. Yahoo! The mic is very clear and I didn't have to change my TeamSpeak setting hardly at all. They really feel like they are worth $80-$100. So glad I made this purchase. I think they are $45 now but still worth it in my opinion. I love them!

Cons: Non

Other Thoughts: Should have bought 2. If Corsair products weren't so expensive I would buy them all the time. Corsair = quality. Their Ram and PSUs are outstanding! I guess they have earned the right to charge more for their products, but I only buy them when on sale sadly.

4 out of 5 eggsLong Sessions Not Recommended

Pros: Bought this headset while trying to stay in a budget, and its great for the price. The sound quality, and the mic quality seem excellent.

Cons: When gaming its usually all or nothing for me, 4-5 hour gaming sessions, or nothing. I dont like having a deadline that tells me when I need to stop. So this headset gets very uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. I have alleviated this problem by wearing a beanie when I game. If you wear glasses the problem gets much worse.

Other Thoughts: I wish I would have looked for something different, and maybe a bite more expensive, just to have something a little more comfortable.

3 out of 5 eggsOk for the price

Pros: Sound is good, mic works, cord length is good.

Cons: Quite large as stated in previous reviews. The labels on the connectors could be more noticeable. The band starts hurting my head after about 1 hour of wearing them. Mic boom could be more adjustable, others had problems hearing me unless they turned up their volume.

Other Thoughts: Good headset for the price, some cons but can be overlooked for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good Headset

Pros: Very comfortable and can barely hear whats going on around you with them on. Love that its a 3.5mm connection and not usb cause you can use them for anything. Mic works great and volume control is a great feature.

Cons: Not wireless but I knew that.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Microphone

Pros: The headset is constructed well with good cushioning. It adjusts very well and is generally comfortable. The sound quality I would have given a 5 for at this price. The cabling is nicely done for an analog headset, long cables, nice gage wiring.

Cons: Well I was very impressed with this headset right out of the box until I used the microphone. The boom itself lacks total flexibility but this is merely a critique. The sound quality on the headset I purchase was simply unacceptable. I would describe the sound quality as sounding like I had a bag over my head while inside a box.

Other Thoughts: This would have been a wonderful headset for the price if the microphone wasn't total rubbish. I read some other reviews that mentioned the mic quality and I rationalized it away as a few bad experiences. Well, I became one of them. Good news is that NewEgg will refund the purchase so I will be buying another headset :)

4 out of 5 eggsSolid, Sturdy and Good Sound Quality

Pros: 1. This product is very easy to setup. Plug into the Mic and Audio ports of your computer and most modern operating systems detect them immediately.

2. Sound quality is solid until approximately 60% of the in-line volume knob is used. Beyond this is ear damaging.

3. The ear pads are extremely comfortable. After 6+ hours of use during a TopGear marathon my ears (which are not huge) were still comfortable inside of the "cans". The pressure exerted by the overhead strap was enough to keep the headphones in place but not uncomfortable.

4. Even after extended use the Mic shows no signs of not staying in its "up" position. I have put it up and down numerous times over the past month of use and the mount is still solid.

Cons: 1. The look is questionable. I would have preferred a solid black color scheme.
2. The identifiers on the 3.5mm jacks are extremely difficult to read and, because they both follow the maroon red color theme of the headphones it's impossible to tell which is the Mic and which is the Audio with a quick glance.
3. Mic quality is reasonable but don't expect exact audio replication.

Other Thoughts: For the price of this head set you'll struggle to find a better value. I have a set of competitor headphones with a Mic that were trash after approximately 5 months. The mic fell off and the build quality was questionable from day one.
With these Corsair HS30s I've given them the ultimate quality test, my five year old son. He picks them up, puts them on for a few minutes and then drops them on his desk in his quest for finding his next entertainment. They've been dropped on the floor from two feet up, stretched to impossible amounts, and the cord has been stepped on more times than I care to admit.
I pulled them from his desk after three weeks and they still work beautifully. Skype calls are clear but, as mentioned, the mic isn't perfect. The sound is excellent right up to the point of ear damage.
I used them with two custom tower computers running Win 7 and 8.1, Dell XPS15 on Win 8, Mac Book Pro on OSX 10.9, and a Win XP machine. Win XP was the least forgiving in getting configured, but everything saw the mic and head phones properly.

Again, for the price you're looking at a solid set of head phones with a mic that will take all that a five year old can dish out and keep going. Just make sure you take some time to workout the mic position and settings before you try to use them.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Value

Pros: The HS30 Gaming Headset is a fantastic value for $50.00. It is a Gaming Headset! It isn't a product that will satisfy an audiophile, but they would be spending 3 to 4 times as much to fill their discriminating ears with sound. I have 4 sets of headphones around the house and am an extreme gamer. The HS30 is now my favorite headset. The microphone works very well and the sound is so good that I can hear those nasty creatures creeping up behind me. The software from Corsair's web site works like a charm. Yes, this is a terrific product for $50.00.

I like music too. The HS30 is very good for listening to my oldies and Sinatra. I'm sure you will enjoy them too.

Cons: The only cons are the packaging. I hate blister-packs. They take a box cutter and herculean strength to open and that you have to o on the website for the software and drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Entry-Level Gaming Headset

Pros: I've given these headphones a workout in Battlefield 4, and I've come to really like them. Just a few comments in response to other reviewers:

(1) the sound quality - these are so much better than the typical earbud headphones, and yet they cost barely more than a throw-away set of buds. That amazes me. You're getting a lot for the money here.

(2) Comfort-wise, I think these are fine. There's padding on the headband and of course the cans. I have small ears, so the can padding actually does fit around my ears, rather than sitting on top of them. If there were any issue, it's that they are under some tension when placed on the head, and the headband is exerting a bit of lateral pressure on the side of the head. They certainly stay on very well!

Cons: Just a couple of issues:

(1) the microphone would not pick up my voice until I adjusted it in Windows for maximum volume and maximum boost.

(2) it would be nice if the microphone were on a flexible boom so it could be positioned a bit closer to the mouth. That being said, it's nice that it rotates completely out of the way when you're not using it.

Other Thoughts: I used these for Battlefield 4, and they were great for that purpose. Lots of folks here comment on their musicality, and honestly, they aren't marketed for that. I'm listening to music on them as I type this, and they are fine, but for directional sound while gaming, they are very good. And once the microphone settings were adjusted in Windows, other players could hear me well in game using the boom mic. Again, if you were buying something for music, you probably wouldn't get these - the mic means they're for a different purpose.

Tip: I set these up initially in stereo, as they are stereo headphones, but for gaming, I actually like them set up as surround in Windows.
