Air Series SP120: Improved heatsink and radiator performance, less noise

Cooling today’s high-performance PCs is a complex task, and a single fan design can’t meet every need. The fan you use to exhaust hot air out of your case might not be the best fan to mount flush against a heatsink or radiator.

Static pressure is the measure of how well a fan can push air in this type of highly restrictive environment, and this is where the SP120 excels. The advanced design of the SP120 provides the higher static pressure that radiators and heatsinks demand, while maintaining a quiet noise profile. Seven ultra-wide, custom-molded blades deliver high static pressure, and the customized fan enclosure helps airflow move in the right direction. The rubber mounts and the advanced hydraulic bearing system combine high reliability with low-noise operation. It’s an ideal solution for radiator and heatsink use, as well as drive bay intakes, and other locations where you’re mounting a fan directly adjacent to a heat source. Three included colored rings allow you to customize the look of the fan to match the rest of your hardware.

  • newegg High Performance Operating at 2350 RPM, the Corsair Air Series SP120 performance edition delivers a strong static pressure of 3.1 mm/H20 and an expressive air flow of up to 62.74 CFM, perfect for use with radiators and heatsinks.
  • newegg Silent cooling The seven ultra-wide, custom-molded blades offer silent cooling, while rubber mounts and the advanced hydraulic bearing system are combined to give silent cooling.
  • newegg Three colored Rings Three included colored rings (red, blue and white) allow you to customize the look of the fan to match the rest of your hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsDefinitely worth it

Pros: this is the fan for high fpi Rad or thick Rad, Price is very nice compare to most brands and it looks awesome.

Cons: Noise if you don't lower the speed, but if you want low speed, buy the quiet edition then. U need a bit careful when mounting it, so you don't damage the anti-vibration rubber part of the mounting hole

Other Thoughts: It delivers very good quality with relative lower price, but the noise could be notice because of the static pressure. It drives air hard enough without making noise, but what I found it the air will run into the obstacle and make noise. It is very minor issue and I don't think it's this fan's problem. However, if you are planning to buy a good static fans on a rad below 30 fpi, go for the quiet edition, above that, mostly you want this one.

5 out of 5 eggsGrommets!

Pros: Does exactly as advertised. They move a lot of air on heatsyncs and on radiators and keep everything nice and cool. So far, no issues at all.

Cons: None (these ones can get somewhat loud though)

Other Thoughts: Install these properly! Yes the grommets turn and can break as the path is not threaded. One way to screw this in is to run the screws in FIRST without attaching it to anything. Do not screw all the way in - leave a small gap. When backing these screws out, do not apply constant twisting pressure. These will only come out effectively if you back them out with short quick twists (this is why you leave a small gap between the screw head and the fan). If you hold your finger in the rubber grommet to keep it steady, you wont have any issues. The easiest way though is to just screw it in a quarter to a half turn at a time and back them out completely before going further. this ensures that your screws don't get stuck in the grommets.

3 out of 5 eggsSolid air draw, but loud..

Pros: It's got a lot of airflow. It feels durable and I'm sure these guys would last a while.

Cons: It is loud and no PWM to slow it down when not running heavy programs. I wouldn't mind the noise if I were easily able to slow the fan.

Other Thoughts: Its a great fan for power, not noise. After 3 months of use, I'm about to buy a different set because these are too loud.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter value and looks than that "other company".

Pros: *First of all...THEY'RE NOT BROWN!! :P

*When Cooler Master says these have high static pressure, they're not kidding. These things can move air through the narrowest of fin array and rads.

*The included line resistors to control speed are a nice touch.

*The colored vanity rings are an excellent idea. Also, if you like black, just take them off. :D

Cons: *LOUD! At full speed they will definitely let you know they are there. Even with the included speed reducers they still emit a noticeable woosh. I highly recommend a fan controller.

*On the units I received, the RPM sensor does not work. I hear this was a problem with certain batches having an incorrect resistor on the tach circuit. It's not a deal breaker for me but for others it may be. I can't be bothered to RMA them.

3 out of 5 eggsLOUD

Pros: They move air efficiently and keep my rad cool.

Cons: If you are buying these fan and they are going to be touching any of the outside edges of your case (blowing out of case not sucking in) do not do it. If they are on the inside it's fine you won't really hear them but the other way around and you will. Buy the pwm ones if you really want to but a better idea would be sp fan on inside of case blowing onto rad then af on outside.

4 out of 5 eggsVery quite fans

Pros: Quite with great airflow. Help to cool down the radiator attached with my R9-295x2.

The ring color is one of the reason i decided to buy this.

Cons: Does not provide any long screws. Its hard to attach it with a radiator or the back of a computer case.

You do need to buy an extra small head screwdriver to work with this fan.

5 out of 5 eggsgood fans

Pros: They are very fast and pretty quiet for how fast they run. Comes with voltage adapter to make them even queiter but at the cost of performance.

Cons: getting the screws into the holes is a little bit chalenging. Can be done though just make sure you use the provided screws. Didn't come with long screws for mounting on radiator and neither did the corsair water cooling loop for a push pull configuration.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Fans, extremely loud

Pros: Corsair fans are simply awesome, i love the elegance with the color ring, and the three primary color options.

Cons: I did not know what I was getting into with the fans, and did not do my research as far as performance edition, and quiet edition. So I will not take away stars - however, please know these things are LOUD! Constant buzzing sound, drove me crazy. Swapped em out for the Quiet Version, soooo much better and smoother.
