4 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: KVM switch works as expected on a Samsung SyncMaster226BW. I'm also running Linux and haven't run into any major problems.

Cons: Keyboard shortcut doesn't work out of the box.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great product for its price. Hasn't failed me yet, or done anything to make me consider "disposing" of it.

Cons: The only thing I've noticed that's slightly annoying occurs when you're only running one computer and in the process of shutting it down (note: 2nd computer is already powered off). If you're in the process of shutting down Windows, and an "End Program" or other error message pops up, more than likely, you won't be able to respond to those messages as your keyboard and mouse have already been deactivated via KVM during the beginning of 'shut down'. Thus, you'll just have to wait until Windows automatically closes those messages out on its own, which of course, slows down the "shut down process".

Other Thoughts: I've seen multiple complaints about this device resembling a "cable spider" or "electric octopus". Judging by the design, I don't think it was intended to sit on top of your desk or workstation, but at the same time, it doesn't come with anything to mount it on a wall or anywhere behind the desk for that matter. I've resolved this issue with mine by applying a velcro strip to the backside of the KVM and attached it under my desk so that it's out of sight and still in an ideal location.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work well

Pros: Connects and configures easily.

Cons: I use the switch with a desktop and w notebook docking station. Most of the time when I power on these machines the Switch will not recognize the computers until i unplug the cables into the Switch to reset it. Once i do that it works fine.

Other Thoughts: I only use the Switch for Mouse and Keyboard since my monitor has dual input.

1 out of 5 eggsYesterday's technology today

Pros: It's small

Cons: It doesn't seem to work correctly with DVI technology

Other Thoughts: Using a DVI-to-RGB adapter on one PC, the switch will not allow input from mouse or keyboard to bring the PC out of screen saver mode. If I switch to the second PC and the first goes into screen saver, I have to power-off the PC and reboot. That makes this KVM switch pretty much useless for it's intended purpose.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks good

Pros: Cost is good, quality of video is great, hotkeys are great. Allows you to stuff it somewhere out of the way.

Cons: All 4 sides have cabling, it's a KVM spider.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat KVM

Pros: Works great. I've had it for a week and I am very happy with it. Allows hot-key or button based KVM switching between 2 different computers with ease. Good sized cables (about 6' long). Switching is fairly quick, about two or three seconds which is acceptable.

Cons: VERY MINOR. Cosemetically it has cables coming out of every side, so there is no "nice looking" side to have facing you if you are putting it on a desk within arm's reach so you can switch by button. Since you can switch with hot-keys, this is a minor consideration at best. You can always put a tissue box over it. ;)

Other Thoughts: I needed to go a bit further than the 6' to get the KVM box on my desk. That was more than the cable allowed, so I ended up buying some USB cables for about $5 to get the extra distance I needed. Overall very happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great!! Comes with all the cables you need to install. Had it installed and working in about 10min! I installed the software so I could use the hotkeys, VERY handy!

Cons: It adds a lot of cables behind both of my pcs....but, whats a few more cables in the jungle behind our computers!

Other Thoughts: My wife says....YOU need two computers?...?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little KVM

Pros: Works flawlessly, hooked it up to both of my parent's machines and haven't had an issue with either one of them. Works just like a KVM switch should.

I think that's about the biggest Pro something like this can have. There's no visual degradation of any movements or quality of video or anything like that either.

Cons: The only problem with this is the same thing you'll have with any USB device, when it switches it takes a second for everything to start responding due to the drivers kicking into gear.

Also, I had like 30 new hardware found popups show up on one of the computers, but the other one just did it all automatically. One was from a custom XP install disc so that might have had something to do with it.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended for someone looking to hook up two computers to a single monitor/mouse/keyboard/stereo system. It just plain works.

5 out of 5 eggsTop notch KVM

Pros: Simple to install and use. Price is great. Performance was excellent.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Ordered this to set up my PVR and my back up system. Works without any issues, plug everything in and let it go. I have NOT used the supplied software as I’m fine switching with the buttons on the KVM

5 out of 5 eggsGood bang for the buck

Pros: This product was easy to set up, works great, no hassle. Can be used with/without the driver disk, though you need the drivers to setup audio-lock (i.e., listen to audio on computer #1 while moving mouse/keyboard control to computer #2).

I can't speak to the video quality because I'm only using the K/M/A components. I see another reviewer here said "no visible degradation", but a review on another website complained about vertical lines visible on dark screens. Guess it just depends on your individual equipment.

I use a wireless mouse, and my keyboad is actually plugged into the USB hub of a separate number pad, which in turn is plugged into the keyboard port of the KVM. I have no problems with any of my input devices.

Cons: Even though this is a great product in the end, setup was a little scary. There's a couple things you need to be aware of:

1. The keyboard/mouse USB ports to not go as deep as most, leaving one with the impression that the connection is not solid. However, I have had NO PROBLEM with my connections. It was just the initial impression that the connection *might* not be very good.

2. The audio pass-through is subject to some noise interference. When I first plugged everything in, the noise was so bad that I thought I was going to end up returning the device. I was able to fix the problem by turning down my speaker volume and turning up my Windows volume control settings.

Other Thoughts: Like any other KVM switch, every time you switch control you'll hear 42,000 bell sounds as your machines detect USB device connections/disconnections. You'll want to customize your Windows audio scheme to shut that off. It took me about 2 switch-overs to realize how annoying that is!
