This review is from: TRIPP LITE B006-VUA4-K-R 4-Port KVM Switch with Audio, OSD and Peripheral Sharing
Pros: I hooked it up and it worked without problems. I haven't yet tried connecting a USB based computer to the unit because I currently only have PS2 based computers. I haven't had it working long enough to notice any peculiarities, but if any show up, I'll post them.
The documentation for this unit claims you need Windows 2000, or later, but I still have a Windows 98 machine and it works with that when I just use the front panel buttons for switching.
This unit replaced a working older PS2 based KVM switch because I got tired of having to use two mice when switching between Linux and Windows on my PS2 based computers.
I'll be upgrading my Linux machine soon, so the PS2 issue won't be a problem much longer anyway.
Cons: The cables are proprietary which means you cannot use KVM cables from a different KVM switch and if you want to connect to PS2 based computers, you need to buy Newegg Item N82E16812120673.
Also, sharing USB devices won't work for PS2 based computers (mentioned in the documentation), which is not a really big deal.
Other Thoughts: I'm pleased with this unit because it releases me from having to use two mice when switching between Windows and Linux. The unit it replaces has been in service for several years and if this unit does as well, I'll be very pleased.
