5 out of 5 eggsGaming goodness

Pros: Very large library of games
Just a good overall portable gaming system
Plays older Gameboy Advance games

Cons: While the DS can play Gameboy Advance games, it doesn't play older Gameboy games from previous Gameboy generations such as Gameboy Color games.

Does not support WPA wireless security; only WEP.

Other Thoughts: As of this writing, the image for this particular color is WRONG. As said in the description, this is a retail DS with the top colored in a metallic cobalt with the rest (including the inside of the system when opened) colored in a matte black. The current picture is the color "enamel blue" which is only available in Japan.

Just pointing this out so you don't end up expecting an all blue DS.

5 out of 5 eggswonderful

Pros: just as good as my old DS if not better, besides not being broken. I like cobalt better due to its easier grip with the differing finish on the lower half. This reduces glare, and fingerprints, and this is important, there is also a smaller chance for scratches, and the noticability of any. not to mention its runs just as well as any nintendo ds lite. i would greatly suggest this item if you are interested because of its current compatability with older gameboy advance games, which the newer nintendo dsi does not. this item plays great and if youre used to an original ds, then you'll be surprised with this product, because of its lightness, brightness, and the special ability to play longer with a signicantly stronger battery. which lasts for about 500 charges, thats impressive.

Cons: very expensive, my old one broke on my part for misuse, do not take them apart without consultation of a professional. I bought my first one about three years ago,and the price has only dropped lke ten dollars. as a long time gamer my greatest fear is durability, i want my DS to withstand bouncing down stairs and handhelds tend to be more fragile of a gaming system, keep this in mind considering the cost.

Other Thoughts: wonderful gift, i adore mine, and protect it with my life, games are small cartridges and this is convenient, but even though theyre small, they can be expensive, and games for the majority of nintendo are for children, and have low quality graphics compared to psp.

5 out of 5 eggsAddictive

Pros: Lots of fun. I usually dont get into things like this, but I loved playing Mario cart with the kids. You can play online if you can find an open ( unsecured ) wireless network. Screen is very bright, even on dim. Plays older games so you can ditch the old gameboy advance with the dim screen. Battery lasts up to 10 hours if you keep the screen on dim (which is still way brighter than the advance screen).

Cons: Wireless will not connect to secured network. I run wpa2 and this will not support it. Even when I lowered my security to wep, it would not connect. I had to broadcast my ssid and turn encryption completely off before it would connect. Luckily, there are 2 unsecured networks in my neighborhood to connect to. Kids think its cool to play against people from all over the world, but we have to stand in the right place to connect to one of the networks.

Other Thoughts: Major improvement over Gameboy Advance. Graphics are not as good as those on PSP though. I think the games are better for the Nintendo though, so maybe things balance out. Maybe its a matter of choice of what kind of games you like to play?

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: The DS has been around for a while now. I got a blue one in generation 1, and was happy to be able to get a blue 2nd generation one now.
Pretty sturdy, too, as opposed to that competing platform...

Cons: Not as immersive as an Xbox.

Other Thoughts: I hear the third generation (with camera?) is now coming out in Japan, but as far as I'm concerned, the current DS design is pretty much optimal for a solid, portable gaming system.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet gaming system

Pros: Lightweight, good battery life. Really easy to pop in a flash cart and get up to 8 gigs of roms on a microSD card, as well as play videos and mp3s. Used this as a personal media player on a recent trip to Europe, and I fit 9 hours of TV shows on a 2 gig microSD card.

Cons: I already have a defect in the middle of my top screen. I don't know if it got smacked while it was in my coat, or if it's from the cold or what. It's not really visible while something is on the screen so I'm not worried about it but FWIW be careful with your screens.

Other Thoughts: Google m3 ds real
