5 out of 5 eggsPlease please please bring it back!

Pros: Beautiful world, Linear Motion Battle System is very fluid and fun to use, and over all round plot.

Cons: I found no cons.

Other Thoughts: I've had this game a while and it really is in my top 5 for games. I noticed the price reduced a few months back, probably to get it to sell out, and I wanted to buy another copy for backup, but kept thinking I'd do it after Christmas - but it sold out before then. This game is amazing, and I would buy it the second it's back on here, no questions.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is a great game that I have invested over 90 hours in so far. It has many optional side quests, crafting, farming materials etc. that make this game fun. This game also has a New Game + feature like other tales games. You can use grade (earned by performing well in combat) to either buy higher experience, gold rates, carry over items, skill etc. You can also increase the difficulty of the game. All adding to high replay.

Cons: Over all I would say I don't really have any major negatives. As I mentioned there are many side quests, but they are not easy to find. You literally have to re-visit every city, talk with everyone after the main plot advances to ensure you are picking up everything.

Other Thoughts: While I was playing the game and looking for a show to watch on hulu, I found Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike. Which is actually a good Anime considering it's based on this video game. It does give you some much needed back story to understand why 2 of the main characters act towards each other the way they do.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Game Not Overly Short

Pros: Good story, voice acting, and music. Long enough for my taste

Cons: None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: The game is one of those Anime Story-Type games. This is a must-have if you love RPG's and or Anime

5 out of 5 eggsMy first Tales game...but not my last

Pros: Extremely fluid real-time combat sequences (fights more like Street Fighter than Final Fantasy), supports local multiplayer co-op, beautiful cell-shaded graphics, 50+ hours minimum for first play through, excellent story, and plenty of dialogue. What makes Tales of games so great is the pacing--you never feel like you're in one area too long or that you've gone too long without the story pushing you forward. Even in deep dungeons, optional voiced "skits" keep the story going and help you to really understand the characters' motivations. Even if you might complain about the cliches in this Japanese RPG, the main characters are well-fleshed out feel more "real" than characters in other JRPGs. Also has the best New Game + system of any game I've ever played, supporting all sorts of upgrades and handicaps for your second play through, and depending on your choices in the game it even has an extra dungeon. The extra features means it does not feel stale when you play through more than once.

Cons: If you aren't used to some of the conventions in JRPGs (Japanese Role Playing Games) then some of the cliches may get to you. Next to other games in this genre Tales games really aren't that bad. Only other thing is that one of the battles near the beginning of the game is inexplicably harder than any other in the game, and I had to switch to "easy" the first play through just to beat it.

Other Thoughts: This is the first Tales of game I've ever played, and it impressed me so much that I went back and found four older Tales of games for other consoles and beat them as well. IMO this is a very under-appreciated game series in the states. There are just a few things that really seem to hold this series back from being as popular as some other great JRPG series like Final Fantasy, but I actually had more fun with this game than any from the Final Fantasy series. It's the replayability, the depth of the characters, the long but not drawn out story, and hands-down the best combat system of any RPG series I've ever played that make this series a standout.

5 out of 5 eggsThe one that got me back into RPGs

Pros: This game overall is a very fun, very satisfying title to play. The battle system is addicting and real-time; no more turn-based, hoping your character blocks or dodges, you control if you block or dodge now. The storyline is long, it took my cousin and I over 50 hours to beat the game only taking our time to a small degree and not doing many of the side-quests. Graphics are designed to make you feel as though this game is straight from anime, which some may or may not like. The main character, Yuri, is definitely one to stand out amongst the cliche molds of typical anime protagonists. Also the final boss of the game is very, very tough and can leave you with the feeling of that epic final battle once you beat him, or like me, the feeling of finally winning on the 4th try.

Cons: As others have said, the story and characters are horribly cliche and fit right into the mold of a typical anime; while this can be and is very humorous at times, it's also mind numbingly boring once you pick up on it. Most bosses and enemies leave a lot to be desired as way, WAY too many of them are the boring, annoying, "I am the only one to rule the world, and you can't stop me!!" kind of bosses.

Other Thoughts: Play this game with a partner!! It makes it ten times better in every aspect! My cousin and I have beaten this game time and time again, unlocking many of the special perks and goodies each time. Together we have racked in more than 200 hours of game time, and still haven't done everything you can do. Replay value is through the roof, if you get into these style games, you will be playing it over, and over, and over.... and over again. We will be starting our 4th custom game in Unkown Difficulty soon to get the 'EX Dungeon' and finally have most everything done.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent game

Pros: This is a long game. Over 40 hours for one play through. Fun battle system.

Cons: The story isn't very good. Voice acting is just OK.

Other Thoughts: The game's case was cracked when I received it. It won't close properly. The disc was fine.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent installment to the Tales series

Pros: The overall story of the game is engaging and can keep you hooked for quite a while. The controls are tight and easy to pick up. The art of the game is very smooth, and the movement animation is very well done. In other words, the game is very easy on the eyes. The voice-acting is also very well done.

Cons: The story may not be for everyone. It is quite similar to what one would find in a Japanese cartoon, for despite doing its best to break out of expected molds, the plot and characters can still easily fall into other molds and stereotypes. As such, the characters may be annoying to some. The story also takes a while to pick up, and the controls can be sluggish at first.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'd say this is an excellent installment in the Tales of series. Just as with other Tales games, this one is chock full of easter eggs, secrets, and all manner of references to other Namco and Bandai games.
