The Last Remnant

ESRB Rating
M - Mature

In ancient times, mysterious artifacts referred to as Remnants were discovered all over the world. People used these objects for their awesome powers — a choice that eventually began to cause a rift in the world's balance. Equality was replaced by those who ruled and those who were ruled over. War was inevitable. A thousand years later is when this story begins...

Rush lives with his sister Irina on secluded Eulam Island, far from the power struggles for Remnants that are occurring back on the mainland. However, this peaceful life is shattered when his sister is suddenly kidnapped by a mysterious group of soldiers right before his eyes. He immediately sets off after them, unaware of the evils of the outside world but determined to find his sister at any cost.

Experience groundbreaking graphics, only possible on next-generation platforms, that bring the intensity of gameplay to an entirely new level

Uncover the mystery of the Remnants, powerful artifacts from an ancient civilization that are scattered around the world and stand as they were a millennia ago

Navigate a massive battlefield while surrounded by countless foes and friends

Immerse in exhilarating, large-scale battles through a never-before-seen battle command system

3 out of 5 eggsThe Last Remnant

Pros: Decent story. Really liked the ending. Lots of stuff to do. Could easily keep you busy for 80+ hours if you want to do everything

Cons: Frame rate is just terrible, as most people know. Missions vanish if you don't complete before you start disc two. Enemies "curse" attack is much more annoying than it is challenging.

Other Thoughts: If any production/qa managers are looking at this (long shot) PLEASE STOP with the random spawning idiocy! There is absolutely nothing even remotely fun about going into and out of an area 20-30 times just waiting for the game to randomly spawn a creature so that you can complete a game in its entirety. Its boring, annoying, and cheap. Make the enemies as tough as you want, I don't mind a challenge, but don't waste my time!

Pros: Decent storyline, looks nice graphically, except...

Cons: ...Slowdown. Oh man, the slowdown. Do yourself a favor and install the game to your HD; even then, you'll still be staring at very visible loading times throughout the game.

The gameplay is actually pretty mediocre. I'm a RPG nut to the core, but it just felt pretty 'meh' to me.

The game shipped with the case utterly destroyed. There wasn't a single scratch on the discs, but that bubblewrap didn't exactly work in protecting it's contents. The game works, so I don't really mind though. Not Newegg's fault, so I didn't deduct any points. I'll be sticking with the local mom and pop game stores from now on though.

5 out of 5 eggssquare enix does it again!

Pros: Great game, if you know squre enix then this is nothing surprising, i often forget that i am NOT playing final fantasy while playing this, it has so many aspects from other square enix games that i find very welcoming, battle system is great and intuitive.

Cons: MUST install to 360 for best game play experience, every now and then you will fight what appears to be a normal enemy but its uber powerful and can kill you, not too bad though because you can save any time you want.

Other Thoughts: I installed it to my 360 and have had ZERO issues, love the game, story is great, game play is great, awesome graphics etc...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Don't let all the "negative" reviews stop you from buying this game. I bought the game and read the reviews and i was a bit skeptical but i have grown to love the game. The battle system is unique and requires strategy when facing multiple opponents or you will soon see the game over screen. Graphics look amazing and even though the game has alot of loading screens, they load pretty fast. Only takes about 5 secs or so.

Cons: "texture popping" when a cutscene loads. It could get annoying at first but i installed this game to my harddrive, and even though it still happened in the very beginning of the game *and it only happens for a second* i have not seen them every since i got further into the game.

4 out of 5 eggsThe Last Remnant

Pros: Fantastic Graphics, Great Voice Over, Compelling story draws you in from the start. The battle system is new and something I've not encountered before in the RPG's that i have played. From Final Fantasy 1 to Final Fantasy 11 as well as all the other Square Enix success RPG games.

Cons: Too many load Screens, and the game kept freezing. To fix this i had to install the game onto my 360 Hard Drive, which in turn made the game run better with faster loads and stopped the freezing.

Other Thoughts: The game freezing could have been a faulty disc on my own. I do wish the ammount of loading screens were reduced. However the game has grown on me and i am really enjoying it. and i am pretty particular on my RPG games.

a good buy
