1 out of 5 eggsDidn't Work At All

Pros: It was cheap

Cons: You get what you pay for. The driver disk that came with the receiver was a burnable disk, leading me to believe that this seller is not a legitimate seller. The receiver doesn't work with the actual Microsoft drivers either. I guess you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: The price seemed too good to be true, and it was.

Pros: Overall great product
I haven't had any hadware related problems with it so far

No lag or transmission problems

Cons: Was a pain to get up and running due to driver porblems

Other Thoughts: Is a very good product if your willing to search for a compatible driver to make it work.....it took me around 15 minutes of searching online for a driver, so imo its well worth it

2 out of 5 eggsWin 8 64 fix

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Lots of work to get working

Other Thoughts: From LbaB Sheer's guide, adapted for Windows 8 64,
1) Download and install drivers from here: [http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/xbox-360-wireless-controller-for-windows#support]
2) Navigate to [C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository] (or your WINDIR equivalent)
3) Locate folder that starts with xusb21.inf_... (the file type should be "Setup Information"). If there are more than one, choose the one that was created most recently
4) Copy that folder to your desktop (can't edit it where it is apparently)
5) Open the inf file in notepad. Press ctrl+h (search & replace). For the "Find What" field, enter "0719". For the "Replace with" field, enter "0291". Save and close.
-----for win 8 64-----------
Win-I to get settings page
select "Change PC Settings" at bottom
selcet "General"
Select "Restart Now" in "Advanced Settings"
Hit "7" to restart without digital certificate checking
when restarts, continue with modified driver installation
------------------
6) Right click on my computer (desktop, start menu, wherever) and click "Manage"
7) In the new window on the list at the left, click Device Manager.
8) There should be an "Other Devices" section with "Unknown Device" listed, you can try the following procedure on all of them to find the right one.
9) Right click and select "Update Driver Software"
10) Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
11) Browse to the folder on your desktop with the modified inf file in it.
12) Click next and accept whatever popups follow, it's okay to install the driver even though windows might warn you

3 out of 5 eggsWorks with some work

Pros: After the fix it worked. The fix I got from Sheer below, all credit to him/her.

From Sheer's guide, adapted for Windows 7, square brackets indicate link or folder location:

That worked for me, perhaps a restart might be required for some but mine didn't need it. Again thanks to Sheer for the help!

Cons: Took some editing to get it working, but the guide below was exactly correct.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

Pros: Works with my existing Xbox controllers, easy set up, computer recognized it right away. I haven't has a single issue with it yet.

Cons: I had to make sure that the USB port I was plugging it into was 2.0 other than that its fine.

Other Thoughts: Wish is was just a dongle that plugged into your comp instead of having a cord but other than that it is what I expected it to be.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware!

Pros: Does what it should. Got it on sale for $12, so that was a nice bonus; responsive. Took about an hour and a half for setup though; READ "cons" and "other thoughts".

Cons: This isn't the "official" wireless adapter sold by Microsoft, and that creates a problem. Specifically, you get into issues with the device not recognizing the software Microsoft has on their website or sends with their disc. See "Other thoughts" on how to fix this.

Other Thoughts: To fix the issue of the device not being recognized by your computer, you need to first install the files onto your computer (you can download the necessary files off of Microsoft's site - under "downloads" -> "gaming" -> "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows"). After downloading and installing these files, look for the file "Xusb21" (the file type should be "Setup Information") in the folder you installed the drivers in. Open it with notepad. Press ctrl+h (search & replace). For the "Find What" field, enter "0719". For the "Replace with" field, enter "0291". Save the file (you may need to give yourself administrator privileges on your computer to save it). Open up your device manager (can be found in the control panel), go to "Other devices", and you should see one or two unknown devices. Right click the second one, click "Update Driver Software", and select the folder containing the files for your wireless adapter. It should now recognize the device and give it an actual name, but will still show up as not working - all it took for me was a simple computer restart and it worked.

Hope that helps anyone else who had the same problem I did and saves you some time!
