1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER

Pros: Good quality printing
Fast

Cons: Overall build quality is very poor

Other Thoughts: When I first bought this printer I was very happy with it. It is fast. It prints very well. But the quality of the printer is not acceptable. I have printed a total of 13,276 impressions on it and it is now making horrible prints with streaks through everything. Because I don't print a lot, it has been more than a year since I purchased it, so it is out of warranty. To repair it will cost me approximately $300.00. I have spoken with Samsung twice, and they are unwilling to do anything to rectify this problem. I highly recommend buying something that is NOT Samsung!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat color, but it jams

Pros: Absolutely superb color photos.
Extremely low energy use.
Low temperature fusing, which prevents problems with certain specialty papers.

Cons: Our printer jammed about every third or fourth print job. We can's use it under these circumstances.

Other Thoughts: It is entirely possible that the printer's propensity to jam only manifest itself when we did some sort of special job (possibly duplexing or card stock, both of which we use).

1 out of 5 eggsPOOR WARRANTY

Pros: Very great printing quality ...

Cons: The printer output some stange marks on the edge of the paper. Call Samsung tech. They required me to send the unit to a repair center... I ask them what am I supposed to do without printer in my office.... They where unable to tell. That's there warranty policy. If I was them I would have sent a brand new unit and ask me to return the defective unit after.

Other Thoughts: I'm an IT Consultant and I was pro samsung since 10 years. Now, I'm kind of changing my mind !!

1 out of 5 eggsNo Warranty Support

Pros: This had the potential to be a nice printer, if only it had worked.
Newegg accepts returns.

Cons: Expensive toner. Aftermarket toner is not yet available.
Samsung does not honor the warranty.

Other Thoughts: I received a defective printer (print dropouts). Samsung was unable to repair and refused to replace it.

Over the course of a month, I placed numerous calls to Samsung, spoke with over a dozen different people in Customer Support, Technical Support, "Executive" Customer Support (which should be called the "'No' Department" because all they ever said was "no"), "ServRight" (which should be called "ServNot" because they never did show up to fix the printer), and someone from the "Office of the CEO". All I ever got was runaround, refusals, broken promises, and unreturned calls.

Multiple times, I was told that I'd have to go purchase replacement parts myself. I was promised "we'll call you back within one hour" four times - and never received a return call. Three times they assured me that a service tech would call the next day - and he never did. When I reached the end of the Newegg return period and the printer still had not been repaired, I requested a replacement - and was refused. I asked the "executive customer support" representative flat out if Samsung would honor the warranty and he said "no".

So I returned the pinter to Newegg for a refund. I originally planned to get a replacement, but after the last Samsung service person was downright rude to me, I decided not to do business with Samsung again.

Everybody makes mistakes from time to time - the test of a good company is how they deal with them. Samsung failed horribly. Had they fixed the printer, I'd have been happy. Instead, I received worst customer service experience of my life.

I won't buy any more Samsung products and I strongly urge others to avoid Samsung as well.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent printer

Pros: Excellent plain paper print quality, inexpensive for a color laser, very easy to set up with either DHCP or static address, easy toner replacement, very low power consumption when on standby, starter cartridges are standard size, direct network connection means no need for a print server.

Cons: The toner cartridges are pricey. It's cheaper to buy a new printer than to replace the cartridges. While it prints very quickly, the low power consumption leads to long warmup times. it takes a couple minutes to warm up and start printing, but this is common among laser printers and just part of life. If you have a lot to print, it's better to lump it all into one job.

Other Thoughts: Some people have complained there is no wireless. In my experiences, I'm happy it is not. Wireless networking is too insecure and has too many problems. If you want to keep other people from using your printer, wired is best.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so sure about this one

Pros: Prints text nicely, color pictures are decent enough. Packed well.

Cons: Bought 2 of these and both are giving "Out of Paper" errors even when the trays are loaded.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these on a good sale from Newegg and figured I couldn't go wrong with the Samsung name. Not so. The first one we installed had issues with the paper tray after the 3rd print stating it was empty. After monkeying with the tray and various loads of paper, we still could not clear the error. So I swapped out the first unit and installed the second unit. Same thing. Printed a few times, then paper tray errors. Then some of the computers started printing with it, while others got a paper tray error. Very strange. Had to force a static IP through the server to get it to be seen properly on the LAN. Now, suddenly the second unit is working, at least today. I don't know if it will be tomorrow. Very irritating in a work environment where I just don't have time to babysit a temperamental piece of equipment. It was cheap, and I guess you get what you pay for.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: average colour quality sometimes on USB direct printing funtion.

Cons: Fail to print correctly, Despite last driver/sofware and firmware were installed. especific toner cartridges relate error. Samsung tecnical suport solution too generic Despite I send then pictures of the error mesaje and failed Printout. Since no solution RMA will be wise.

Other Thoughts: Rarely I make a mistake selecting a good product from newegg this is probably the exception.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price for beautiful prints

Pros: Smaller than my Brother AIW. Has much better print outs (full color photos from my GS3) than I expected, considering the price. It rivals that HP5500 I use at work! Built it networking is great... I didn't want wireless so no loss there.

Cons: Had to do some research on setting up the networking. I had it on my network, but it would go to sleep and not wake when I sent a job to it. To remedy it, I had to set the IP to static and reserve it on my router. Now it wakes up for print jobs just fine.

Other Thoughts: I'm not really sure what the point of the eco mode is. I turned it on and a full page color PDF was reduced in sized and printed in greyscale. Needless to say, I turned it off. I don't print a lot of color at home, I mostly use my Brother AIW black only laser and it's been on the same cartridge for 2 years. I bought this one because I was tired of the ink cartridges for my various ink jets going dry before I could use them. It was a huge waste of money. I had to buy ink when I needed to print.

Sure, toner cost more, but the yields are ~1500 so I expect them to last me at least 2-3 years. Seemed like a good investment since it was a Shell Shocker deal! Thanks Newegg!!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Prints - Great Printer

Pros: Purchased this to replace my long running Dell 3100cn work horse. For the price point, it was the highest resolution 9600 X 600 dpi. I was considering the auto duplex HP, but it was priced higher and was 600 X 600. The reviews on the other site were pretty good. This did not dissapoint. I set up the printer and it worked perfectly. Nice prints, not photo quality from an inkjet, but crisp with good color and details. So far so good.. Excellent buy.s

Cons: None so far
