1 out of 5 eggsMaybe the best, but unstable

Pros: Integrated VoIP, lots of configuration options.

Cons: It hanged after moderate Internet usage every day or after downloading some bigger file. I've had to reset it by disconnecting from the power every other morning.

The wireless hanged during watching a movie or copying file over a network within minutes. Simple download or browsing a webpage through wireless were causing problems with disconnecting and not coming back.

Other Thoughts: I became so doubtful about integrated solutions like everything in one box. I've been forced to return the product. I have to look for something else or maybe the particular unit was defective?

2 out of 5 eggsSeems impressive, but stability issues

Pros: Lots of features - decent range - dual SSID capability

Cons: Horrible stability with original or newest firmware

Other Thoughts: Installed this router and it hangs every morning requiring a reboot. Providing only wireless data, no VOIP service at this point. Upgraded firmware and stability issues remain. I will be returning this unit and finding something else.

5 out of 5 eggsRobust operation, tricky setup

Pros: VOIP communication combined with a wireless 4 port router. Might be the perfect small home office solution. Also does not seem prone to lock ups and such. I have yet to need any reboots as a result of internet or power outages, which are many in the international location where I happen to be using this. It always seems to start up again as soon as the outages are restored.

Cons: Not for the novice to setup. The vast number of parameters can be a bit daunting when configuring the VOIP operation. That said I followed the instructions for my service provider, which left most settings at default, rebooted(necessary) the device, and it registered immediately.

Other Thoughts: This is to be used with a generic type VOIP service provider other than say Vonage. Callcentric is one such option. A similar proprietary device is available for/from Vonage. If you are uncomfortable or squeamish about techy stuff, you may want to go the Vonage route since it is more plug and play with a factory configuration.

VOIP is here and now. I've been using the cable companies VOIP for a number of years without issue, but this is my first adventure in setting up a service independent of my domestic Cable TV/Internet/Phone provider. My main purpose for doing so in this case was for a location without phone service. I am now motivated to purchase another box for my home and eventually ditching the VOIP service I have with my cable company, if only for the potential cost savings.
