5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory for Apple Model CT2K8G3S160BM

Pros: 16GB 1600;
Got it on sale;
Easy installation.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Huge upgrade over a stock 4GB memory on my 2011 Macbook Pro 15''. While I thought 4GB was plenty enough since I've replaced the original hard drive with a Samsung SSD, applications had to fight each other for the RAM. Can definitely say that the extra RAM helped a lot with the overall speed of the mac.

5 out of 5 eggsit works

This review is from: Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory for Apple Model CT2K8G3S160BM

Pros: it works

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is for a MacBook Pro 15" non retina display mid 2012 model. Model id MacBookPro9,1 I was running OS X in 4GB with 3 other users logged in the system. Forget about analyzing RAM usage, and all the arcane graph reading, just max out the RAM and be done with it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for Mac Mini 2012

This review is from: Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory for Apple Model CT2K8G3S160BM

Pros: -Plug and play installation for Mac Mini 2012
-16GB (2 x 8GB modules) Max Ram for Mac Mini
-DDR1600 Max Memory Speed for Mac Mini
-Specifically made for MAC! (Be careful with other rams)
-Works great!
-Price is affordable especially with a coupon code/promo.

Cons: no cons!

Other Thoughts: Works great so far. Yosemite itself uses around 4GB at idle with 4GB virtual memory. Having this quadruples the memory which allows for more programs to be used concurrently without slowdowns. Adding an SSD and you have a pretty fast and responsive computer. With the lower price of the Mac Mini 2012 (~$400) upgrading ram and the HD to a SSD makes the Mac Mini affordable. Usually mac specific ram is priced a bit higher but with the discount these were actually cheaper than the non-mac ram.

5 out of 5 eggsMid 2012 Mac Mini

This review is from: Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory for Apple Model CT2K8G3S160BM

Pros: SUPER easy to swap in a mid-2012 Mac Mini; works perfectly.

Cons: None, really.

Other Thoughts: This was maybe the easiest, cheapest, fastest, and most effective upgrade I could have done to my Mac Mini. It's way faster - especially with Yosemite. An SSD would make it even faster, but the technical know-how for that is more, so that makes this upgrade a 10 out of 10.

5 out of 5 eggsMac Mini 2011 - Works Great

This review is from: Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory for Apple Model CT2K8G3S160BM

Pros: Works perfectly in my 2011 Mac Mini. It was immediately recognized as 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3 memory (which is a huge upgrade from the 4GB of 1333MHz memory it originally came with.)

Installation is easy. Just make sure the pins are properly seated in the connector before snapping the memory down into place.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Apple doesn't officially sell 16GB kits for the 2011 Mac Mini, but the motherboard is compatible with this kit. Just do a couple quick web searches to learn more.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

This review is from: Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory for Apple Model CT2K8G3S160BM

Pros: see below

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I was comparing 16 GB of this RAM to 16 GB of OWC RAM. Not only is this RAM just as good, you can find it cheaper than OWC RAM (especially with awesome Newegg coupons). So with that, it was a no-brainer to get the Crucial.

I previously had the stock 4 GB and thought that 4 GB was plenty for a mac. I put this in a 2012 MBP and it recognized the full 16 GB without any issues. I must say, I was surprised at how much it helped the MBP. The computer was ready to use faster (start up time was the same) and it didn't bog down at all. The additional RAM helped tremendously with MS office, web browsing, and other applications. Previously, they all had to fight for memory. Now, they all have more than enough to truly multitask and make the MBP shine.

Kudos to newegg for having it in my mailbox sooner than expected.
