1 out of 5 eggsMore trouble than it's worth

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/240G

Pros: Nothing

Cons: This comes with nothing that you need to do install or use it. By the time you acquire all the necessary bits and pieces, you could have bought a much better one.

Other Thoughts: I waited to long to return mine, but I desperately wish I could. Terrible purchase

3 out of 5 eggsKingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/240G

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/240G

Pros: Fast easy install. I would like to make it my boot drive but no software came with it. Using it as a secondary drive in my laptop for VMware. So far so good.

Cons: No software came with it. ( Low egg count) Under Specifications, Features, Convenient - all-in-one kits with all the components for easy installation

Other Thoughts: So far I would recommend getting one.

2 out of 5 eggsFast enough, some lockups under heavy use

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/240G

Pros: Easy to install and setup, no surprises. Much faster than hard drive.

Cons: Lockups under heavy data use. I wouldn't put an OS on these drives.

Other Thoughts: I purchased 2 of these drives. Both were installed in non-hot swappable SATA ports. The were used as storage for VMware virtual machines. When the drives worked, the VMs were about as fast as or faster than the host OS (which ran on a pair of conventional 7200RPM hard drives in a RAID1 array). The problem is that the drives would lockup under heavy usage, such as when the guest VMs (all Windows) were doing Windows Updates. Since the ports were not hot swappable, the host had to be rebooted to get the drives back. Kingston replaced one of them, but it still had problems (not as bad as the original). Both were moved from VM storage to normal data and have functioned well in that role but they do many fewer "write" operations now. I use other brands of SSDs for the VMs now.

Pros: Replacement for OEM 5400 drive and you can tell it makes Windows 8.1 run much faster.

Cons: No copy software.

Other Thoughts: Great drive for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/240G

Pros: Well worth buying two to raid them for a game drive. Load time will be gone. Solid Performance
GTA 5's load times are crazy fast coming from a HDD or a single SSD vs SSD raid 0 Drive.

Cons: Wish I had bought 4 instead of 2..

Other Thoughts: I would recommend buying this SSD over other Top brands. For the price you can buy two of these and raid them, and beat any ssd on the market in speed. I've been using the v300 120 g Kingston now for going on 2 years as the OS drive. I will say it is a great drive and is the contributing factor in buying the v300 240g's.
