3 out of 5 eggsLacking in the documentation

Pros: -easy enough to setup once you get in
-it has a 1GB WAN port

Cons: -the site it said to go to for setup didnt work "http://tew-733gr". in fact even after fulling setting up the router i still cant access that.
-the standard 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1 didnt work.
-the documentation that came with it was not helpful at all

Other Thoughts: I am only giving this a 3 because for all other purposes this router does actually work once you actually get in and set it up. I had to actually google the how to get into the router just to find out how to get into the setup though. Which as it turns out is "192.168.10.1" and is mentioned NO WHERE.

I bought this for the sole reason that I wanted a 1GB WAN on the router I was buying because all routers are always 10/100 WAN. I am not really impressed with Trendnet though as a company and next time I will be looking elsewhere.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on the N300 Wireless Gigabit Router, TEW-733GR. The default IP address for the TEW-733GR is 192.168.10.1. This information is located in the User’s Guide on the included CD. However, we recognize that it should also be included in the Quick Installation Guide if for some reason the host name doesn’t resolve properly. Thank you again for your feedback it is very important to us and we will use it to improve our installation procedures.

Regards,

Adrian

5 out of 5 eggsWow Fast!!!

Pros: - Fast
- Small
- Excellent Interface
- Never needed support and routers are my kryptonite.
- Reliability
- Price

Cons: - Too light
- Feels flimsy

Other Thoughts: - This router saved my business, it is capable of handling anything I throw at it. The previous one, a DLink, could not. Ended up I needed a Gigabit router that would allow me to change the router's own IP and it does it without breaking a sweat. The cons did not justify my decking it down an egg; it is a 5 Star router in my book, the cons are my being picky.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid

Pros: Not hard to configure. Runs cool. Inexpensive.

Cons: Doesn't work; needs frequent rebooting.

Other Thoughts: I've done what I can for a couple weeks of use, but the inconsistent performance is a deal-breaker. Works okay after rebooting for a day. Or maybe just an hour, or maybe 10 minutes. Then the delay gets worse and worse, with lag and pings times in 1000's of ms. Swapping back in my old router fixed all the issues. Not worth troubleshooting; I'm just gonna put it in the garbage.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We are sorry hear that you had an issue with the TEW-733GR. A firmware update may help. Please visit our website and apply it. If you continue to experience issues the router carries a 3 year limited warranty. Please email adrian@trendnet.com and we will have a support representative assist you. 1 out of 5 eggsAvoid products from this manufacturer

Pros: Can't comment as the hardware didn't work correctly from the begining.

Cons: Although this product boasts a 3-Year warranty, just hope you don't discover a fault after 30-days as TRENDnet expect the customer to pay for shipping (both ways) to get the unit replaced. I noticed that my unit wasn't connecting to any of my wireless devices anywhere near 300Mbit/s so I contacted customer support only to be told I had a hardware issue and the unit had to be exchanged. That was fine until it got to the bit where it said I had to pay for shipping both ways.

Other Thoughts: THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF COMPANIES THAT PROVIDE A BETTER AFTER SALES SERVICE. Needless to say, I won't be buying any more products from this manufacturer unless they improve the after sales service they provide their customers!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We are sorry hear that you had an issue with the TEW-733GR. TRENDnet’s limited warranty policy does not cover shipping defective units to TRENDnet for warranty services. However, shipping is covered for returns to the US and Canada. If you would like to continue your warranty claim please email adrian@trendnet.com and we will have our RMA coordinator assist you. 1 out of 5 eggsTrendnet is poor in good and service

Pros: Price is relative lower than similar item.

Cons: - Its wireless doesn't work out of the box! No wifi signal at all.
- The first item didn't work and Newegg is very positively send another one for replacement.
- The second had the same problem. I contacted by phone and one lady kept asking my personal information: name, age, address, education... and confirmed this info. is procedure of Trendnet before answering any customers' questions.
- When being asked for return for repair, Trendnet said customer must pay return shipping fee.
- I couldn't use wireless because it didn't work right after open box and now I have to pay for Trendnet bad quality. Trendnet acts like a trap: they sell poor product at the low price and get customer spend more for fixing the manufacturer's defects.

Other Thoughts: Never buy any thing from Trendnet.
Rubbish product and services.
Waste time and money.

1 out of 5 eggsPASS ON IT

Pros: It works most of the time

Cons: Does not work all of the time
Every reboot it changes IP addresses unless you set static IP addresses. Who wants to have to set every IP address. Am looking to replace it.

Other Thoughts: frustrating when watching Netflix and I keep losing signal. I actually think it is more than a range issue.

Skip looking to replace it, don't buy it in the first place.

Every wireless router I have had worked fine with no issues, this one is a bad one.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Router for Price BUT

Pros: Cost
Features
Ease of Use

Cons: Poor handling of marginal signal from devices

Other Thoughts: I rely on the WiFi connection to access other devices and Internet in my house. I bought this to replace my NetGear G router. The N and GbE are performing well but after a long troubleshooting effort to find the source of loss of connection problems it became apparent what is causing it. There are 3 WiFi connected cellphones (G3, S5 and iPhone 6) that when they go outside to driveway my WiFi connection drops or becomes unusable during their time in driveway. If they don't dwell too long I barely notice but any longer I have trouble reconnecting. So I am replacing it with LinkSys AZ router. I hope it's better handling weak signals.

1 out of 5 eggs50/50 Shot at "OK"

Pros: Fairly easy installation, great features, good fast throughput when they work.

Cons: High failure rate, half or more of the units we stocked out of over 50 units failed within 1-6 months. Some suffered various inexplicable routing issues resulting in completely inadequate throughput for basic internet functionality. The issues were fixed by replacing the unit.

A few of the units showed poor wireless performance in home deployments with wireless kicking in and out at random times.

Other Thoughts: We're an ISP, and we stocked these units for a year. Eventually, we had to replace 50% or more of the installations due to one or more of the issues stated in the "cons" list.

We no longer stock this unit, to say the least. It cost us a lot of man hours troubleshooting these units.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello VicInnovations,

We are sorry to hear that you experienced issues with the TEW-733GR. With firmware updates and troubleshooting measures we may be able to help users that run into issues. The failure rate you experienced is not consistent with warranty statistics for this unit. Support services can be located on our website at www.trendnet.com/support. If you continue to experience issues with your remaining units please email adrian@trendnet.com and we will have someone assist you as soon as possible.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as it should

Pros: Easy set up, Gig Lan ports, stable wifi.

Bought with a modem to replace the unreliable hardware provided by Time Warner.

Cons: For the price paid there are none.

Other Thoughts: Picked up on sale for under $30.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Gigabyte WAN and LAN ports. Ease of set up. IP Reservation is an excellent feature. Small footprint

Cons: Abysmal wireless range. Beyond a few feel, signal strength drops to the point of being useless.

Other Thoughts: Range issue first notice on the first day. I shelved it in lieu of my old Linksys WRT54GL. My Linksys finally died and was forced to use this again. I set it up and performed a firmware upgrade hoping this would improve wireless performance. No dice. Forgot how frustrated I was with this model and finally decided to write a review. Avoid this one at all costs!
