5 out of 5 eggsFast, tastes good.

Pros: I'm not a coffee expert but it's super fast, hot, tastes great. Is there anything else that matters?

Cons: I'm terribly messy and it doesn't clean its self.

Other Thoughts: Everyone I show it to are amazed on how fast it is.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but problems today

Pros: When you want good coffee FAST!
Fast brewing, optional fine grind spray head available from website. Used these for years in various versions. Was a big fan, but.....if you can call support and press 1 for a call back (they will call you back!) you will speak to a very helpful employee in the US who will handle the problem properly.

Cons: Leaking on the counter top. Plain cold water, so it's not as bad as it might be. Apparently the gasket isn't up to snuff between the fill and heating tanks.

Other Thoughts: I think the gasket from the fill tank to the heating tank is leaking after about 22 months (36 month warranty) and leaking out the electric cord opening at the back bottom. About 1-2 ounces per use. Not as big a deal on my counter top but if you have any sort of wood-based / formica type counter keep an eye on it.

SUMMARY: Not perfect but excellent, and Customer Service at BUNN is second to none if you just give them a chance!

5 out of 5 eggsnicer then expected

Pros: FAST!!

- i wake up and turn it on, and by the time i can pick out my favorite mug i have ten cups of seeming hot coffee ready for my disposal.

- Great coffee! Its amazing how nice the taste of fresh ground coffee is brought out by this machine

- Quite, my last machine {a "black and decker"} would hiss crackle pop and usually fog up the kitchen with steam... but not this one. So quiet at first i thought the thing wasnt and i have yet to see any steam come from this machine what so ever. AND the coffee it noticeably hotter then oher machines and never tastes burnt {i dont know how they do this}

-I no i already said this but its FAST. It says three minutes but mine takes half that time... I have a conspericy that they my be purposly underrating its ability so people believe them, cuz 1.5 min is unbelieveable, thts less then 1/10 the time it took for my last machine

- Oh! and i know this is their cheeper model... but TRUST ME ... THERE IS NOTHING "CHEAP" ABOUT MACHINE!

Cons: I would not buy this machine if you are not daily drinker. I have a family of four who drink about to cups or so a day and at that rate this thing is a godsend, whoever for someone who lives alone and drinks every other day this may not be the right one for you.

Other Thoughts: JUST MAKE SURE TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST!!! the only reason i say this is because this is not quite like you original coffee maker so if you dont read the instructions i can honestly say your going to have trouble starting it. dont get me wrong its real easy but it just takes one time to learn... after that youll never go back because its just too easy. OH and last thing cleaning it is a snap!

5 out of 5 eggsGrrrrreat !

Pros: STOP ! Have you ever determined the cost/gallon of your favorite drive through brew?
You'll NEVER complain about the cost of gasoline again, you can fund your retirement with those dollars. This is the way to go.
After setting up this model I learned how foolish I really was in not believing all the coffee brewing variables I read about online and how each has it's own effect on the cup you drink. This brewer brings out the best possible coffee in it's class. I also had some questions about power consumption given the brewing water is held at the correct brewing temp around the clock but I found answers. I thought my purchases of fresh roasted whole beans, fresh grinding them myself, and making a pot with my pour 'n' brew was the way to go. Each pot I now make causes me to walk away in shame for having that old brewer in my house. I thought the old coffee was good, this is Grrrrreat ! Follow all clearly written setup instructions to the letter, understand them.

Cons: Not a serious problem. BTW I did not take off points because of a small quirk most drip brewers have. Once a pot is brewed, and friends this one is FAST there are some residual drips from the brew basket, these drips can add up on the warming plate, don't smell nice, and can add an insulating layer to the warming plate. I wait 45 sec after the stream stops and I rarely see the drops. These extra seconds don't bother me, ten cups of coffee are ready before my 1st bite of rye toast. I do NOT advise removing the pot too soon, allow all the coffee to drain from the brew basket. The design here is to get ALL the ground coffee submerged with the proper water temp ASAP and allow it ALL to drain into the pot.

Other Thoughts: I resolved questions about power consumption.. Fortunately The Egg had an item on sale I'd always wanted to own, (Kill A Watt, P3) which I purchased some months back, it measures and can calculate fairly accurate kWh consumption. This allows you to turn that number into daily or yearly cost using the delivery, taxes, and supply service charges of your own power bill. There are variables that can change my numbers but this may help you. The quick and easy, I make 6 cups 7 days a week I drink a couple cups before leaving and take the balance in an insulated cup to work or my travels so I choose to turn on the MANUAL, warmer plate before starting my brew and turning it off later. The cost of keeping the water hot 24/7 and using the pot warmer 45min./day was, $0.181784. Putting a timer that heats the water reservoir 20 minutes before brewing time, used warming plate as before $0.11108/day. Save $$ sure, but get up early and the water reservoir is cold and you must wait 10/20mins.

5 out of 5 eggsMADE in USA!

Pros: This is the LAST Small Appliance made in the USA!
This is also the best coffee maker I have had. Makes coffee in 1/2 the time due to the hot water tank built in.
Buy one of these and keep jobs here!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The box said assembled in the USA so I called them in Iowa (not China) and they said because the Carafe, common to many of their units was made in Germany. They still make most parts here in the USA and assemble them in Iowa. That means there are good people in Iowa working and paying taxes. There might be a couple of high professional applicances still made in the USA but this is the last consumer model.

5 out of 5 eggsBest of the best....

Pros: Outstanding coffee maker. I'm still using my original that I bought in 1990.......... Yes, that's 1990. Just had to replace one small gasket about 10 yes ago. Bunn customer service is right here in the states and they are GREAT.

I ordered another for decaff......

Be sure and call and request the special spray head that will give you a richer cup of coffee. Especially if you have a fine grind coffee and/or if you have soft water.

Cons: My 20 year old Bunn is getting kind of dated....... however, my daughter tells me it is vintage. :)

5 out of 5 eggsReplacing my original- after 20 yrs.

Pros: This has been THE best coffee maker of many over a long, enthusiastic life of staggering to the kitchen for coffee every morning. I recommend getting a nice burr grinder that makes a nice, small ground (as in, Turkish) to get the best flavor out of the rapid brewing cycle. We are replacing it only for cosmetic reasons: the plastic has become ionized and brittle from sunlight and ozone- but, it still works.
What an amazing luxury. Perfect, fresh brewed coffee in three freakin' minutes- it's half done before you can get the mugs down (I always drag one back to bed for the wife- I suspect that's part of why she's still with me).
Also- like good teas? Get a second pot to avoid contaminating the tea with coffee oils *we use a bodum with a filter built into it), and take the filter holder off (or get another) for the same reason. The temperature range of the water is close to perfect for Oolongs and other green teas- a little hot for whites, but still well below boiling.

Cons: You need to use their filters, which are widely available online. They pass fluids faster than conventional filters. You need to empty it about every third month (depends on water hardness), fill it with pure white vinegar, and let it get hot- then cycle another pot of vinegar through it. Repeat the pour-through two or three times. SAVE the vinegar. I get two full cleanings out of a gallon of white vinegar. Otherwise, calcium deposits build up on the heating element in the tank, and it can overheat and burn out (happened to my lazy friend). Your cue is loud hissing and popping noises. A clean heater is virtually silent. If you leave the coffee on the burner, it will be undrinkable in an hour- the burner is fierce. Better to leave the burner off, and make what you can drink in fifteen- or, just use an insulated carafe or a vacuum bottle.

Other Thoughts: Get this coffee maker. It will outlast your cat, your dog, and possibly your current relationship- and you will always have hot coffee first thing in the morning.
