5 out of 5 eggsEAP600

Pros: Super easy to configure and deploy, the signal can be manipulated easily to tighten the range, capable of many SSIDs if you want to go that route (you may experience a slow down due to signalling crossover), Can isolate users under an SSID, I've deployed 2 of these and they have been running strong without any downtime and without having to periodically reset the connection. Common sense in wireless technology, with this AP the signal degradation seems to happen more so if you move away horizontally versus vertically, so if you're looking to expand to a full bar signal horizontally in your building where signalling may be low from one AP, you may want to look into buying two and using the out of band signalling to connect the second AP.

Cons: With the dual band mode: one user was using the 5ghz band at home and using the 5ghz band on the EAP600. The connection always had to be manually connected. We never found a fix, but never called tech support either since we just went away from running in dual band mode.

Other Thoughts: This is a great device to deploy in a small business where wired infrastructure installation is limited. You can connect another EAP600 via out of band and not having to pull a new cable.. I like this feature and haven't had a problem with it yet.. Also, every time you make a change and save/reload, it takes over a minute to reboot.

4 out of 5 eggsI love Engenius!

Pros: Easy to set up. Great for making bridges, extending networks, simple WAPs, secured WLANs.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I wish the interface was a bit more intuitive, but it still works great!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: I was a bit skeptical of this manufacturer, because I wasn't familiar with them, so I relied on the reviews after a very bad experience with a big name. I have to say, I am so glad I purchased this unit. A big kudos to the software guys on this unit. The interface is a real pleasure to work with, and it's very intuitive. There's plenty of solid features in this unit, most of which I probably won't use, but might need them if I tweak my network. I big departure from other devices. The unit itself runs flawlessly. The range is solid.

I gave the unit plenty of testing time before posting this review. You will not be disappointed with this product. You definitely want the PoE device with the unit.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I didn't know much about engenius products, but I'm sold.

The thing just works exactly as it should. Set it and forget it.

Couldn't be happier. My new favorite company!

5 out of 5 eggsGood performance, well made.

Pros: We have five of these units in our facility and they perform flawlessly. Range is far better than previous high end units and remote management is simple.

Cons: Had one defective POE unit but EnGenius replaced it immediately without question.

3 out of 5 eggsNot impressed

Pros: Looks good, works, highly configurable

Cons: Range is no better than my cheapie Intellinet. Maybe a little worse.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to RMA it. For the money it costs, I expected significantly better range. I can get another Intellinet for ~$50 and save over $100, including the restocking fee for this unit.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for purchasing the EAP600.

The factory default setting for the transmit power is set to 20 dBm (100 mW). For optimal range, you can set the transmit power up to 27 dBm. The parameter for changing the transmit power levels are found under the Advanced heading under each of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless headings in the GUI.

If you require assistance locating these options, please feel free to call EnGenius technical support at 888-735-7888 M-F 7-5 PM PST.

Sincerely,

EnGenius Customer Support

5 out of 5 eggsawsome

Pros: Great vlan mapping and buying with the poe injector was just as much as the ap by itself. Strong signal!

Cons: One ssid keeps dropping, but it looks due to competing networks. An issue i will iron out.

Pros: Works incredibly well, and very glad that I purchased it with the PoE adapter. It made installation to my remote location a snap.

Cons: None so far.
