5 out of 5 eggsSolid!

Pros: It is super fast, very stable, and reasonable price for sure.

Cons: Um nothing really works great.

Other Thoughts: I find myself I have never had many problems installing anything on a computer. This was actually a frustrating problem getting this to work at first. Everything would load fine and start, but then blue screen while loading OS. I found that I had actually made a mistake in not setting the bios prior to doing my install. Work perfect after that and install of firmware.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive now priced high

Pros: Simple install in Acer A0756-2808 netbook (low profile 7mm drive needed). Fresh install of Win7, no problems. Now running for six months with no glitches. Fast reboot (tho infrequent); quick file search, silent, and cool. I'm no speed demon -- just Chrome, Office, and, well, that's it.

Cons: Price was $90 in June, now $130. What's with that?!

Other Thoughts: Newer PCs won't see much speed improvement, but for mobile PCs, SSD is more shock-resistant; less power-hungry. Cost per GB will be below $0.50 soon enough (probably by next Summer). Then, maybe I'll build-up a HTPC server for the home network. 128GB will hold Win7 and a lot of 320 kb/s Music -- Movies will have to stay on a spinning disk for awhile...

5 out of 5 eggsPretty spiffy

Pros: Fast, quiet, efficient.

Cons: Software must be downloaded?

Other Thoughts: I'm pretty dang impressed with my first SSD. I'm throttling this baby on a 5 year old mobo with SATA II, and it still boots and loads programs super quick. I attempted to use the software, but found that Windows wasn't liking the BIOS changes I was making (like switching from IDE to AHCI) to take better advantage of the drive and continually gave me the dear old BSOD... So I just did a fresh install. Works great and was the fastest Windows installation I have ever done (and I've been doing them since Windows 95) and as such was a mild pleasure.

Now if I just get that new video card, I can bump up my 5 year old rig to a 6.9 WEI score (I obviously really care about WEI with this first upgrade in 5 years). Not too shabby at all.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked on newer laptop, not on an old one

Pros: Fast load times, most every program open in under 3 seconds. Web pages open instantly even on a 3G connection

Cons: Ran into problems getting it to work an an older sata150 laptop. Transcend disk copying software crashed. Price vs hdd is still a bit expensive, I guess if I need more storage space in the future I can use a usb drive or sd card.

Other Thoughts: I spend 2 days trying to get it working on a 3 year old compaq cq60, the transcend software, scope, immediately crashed each time I tried to copy the old partition to the new drive. I tried 2 other programs and was never able to get the drive to boot to desktop. It would start and freeze or say there were file errors or missing files, the windows 7 recovery disk did not work either.

I gave up on that one and put it on a newer samsung laptop, the transcend software did work, I then swapped drives, on first boot it detected something and ran scandisk, then rebooted once more and worked great. Load time from bios to desktop is 12 seconds, waterfox (64 bit firefox) load time is under 2 seconds after boot (1 second after closing and reopening), open office writer loads in about 3 (it use to be about 6-8). I only get read speeds of 260MB, but this laptop has sata300, so thats about maxed out. That is still a bit more than triple from what the hdd was getting.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent value SSD

Pros: Fast and cheap. So far working great with Windows 8 64bit on it. Not even a single freeze, blue screen or spontaneous reboot. Came with 3.5" bracket.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this SSD from Newegg. A m a z o n had it for $75 shipped and 256GB version for $150. Couldn't resist.

I have Windows 8 Enterprise running off that SSD. I have Dell XPS 17" with 3 HDDs (SSD + 2 Seagate Momentus, optical drive removed). My first attempt to install Windows 8 was from a flash drive. I used Windows DVD download tool. Installation seemed to work but the first reboot gave me a blinking cursor. I fumbled with drives, took two of them out and left just the SSD in. Same thing. Then decided to install from an external DVD drive. That worked on first attempt and had no problems since. Conclusion is simple. MS Windows DVD download tool is c r a p. If you want to install from flash drive use a different process to move the files and make the flash drive bootable.
