4 out of 5 eggsPretty good for the price

Pros: Lightning fast boot up with ssd
plenty of hd space,
runs Photoshop and Illustrator smoothly
large screen real estate

Cons: The screen is VERY blue tinted, it drove me crazy trying to correct it t first but I gave up and just got used to it. It's not really a gloss screen so it's not quite as sharp as say the HP Envy's radiant displays but it's serviceable.

The speakers are loud but kind of lacking in sound quality.

The wireless adapter sometimes fritzes and shuts off every 15 min or so. It's working alright now but it still has it's off days.

Other Thoughts: For the price? Still the best value. It has small issues and it's not the prettiest computer out there but it definitely does it's job.

5 out of 5 eggsThird hard drive installed & correction

Pros: This is is a quick follow up to my prior review. First I want to correct the hard drive size, it's a 1TB not a 750GB. Also I wanted to add that the 120GB SSD is a mSATA SSD.
I just installed an HGST 1TB bought from Newegg. The laptop does not I have a caddy but luckily I found one online for a good price and it fits perfectly. So at this point I have the 120GB SSD (mSATA), the 1TB 5400 RPM and the newly installed HGST 1TB 7200 RPM for a grand total of three hard drives.

Cons: No cons.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast Core i7 CPU, 12GB RAM, 120GB SSD Drive plus 750GB Drive plus a third slot for another hard drive. GTX760M, full HD LED screen, etc. For what they are giving you, this is the best offer at this price point. I'm in the process of adding the third hard drive (1TB 7200RPM). I'm also adding an additional 4GB of RAM (yes, there's an empty slot) for a grand total of 16GB. No driver issues as others are reporting. As for gaming, I've only tried two games; Borderlands and Dishonored. Both games run at the highest settings with no problems at all. I had prior experience with Windows 8 but I can see how some might have trouble getting used to it. Overall highly recommended.

Cons: No cons that I can think of.

5 out of 5 eggsAnd just to add.

Pros: just an addition to my review (4/24/2014)

Cons: hope there were light indicators to show capslock/num lock and scroll lock is active.

Other Thoughts: For the person that is saying that there is driver issue on the wireless adapter, I have not encountered this at all. in fact its pretty straight up worked out of the box. did all updates necessary to update to Windows 8.1 and did the updates after that and everything is still working as it should.

Most of the time its the users fault when there is a problem with windows OS. Maybe go use Mac? since everything is automatic with Macs that's why it's so easy to use them but it lacks on in depth control.

Anyways back to the topic, if there was any problem on the driver for the wireless adapter, that is certainly fixed coz as of this date of this review I have not encountered it at all.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat for price

Pros: I bought this laptop so that I have a pc to use while I am here in a school and when I get deployed on sea duty since it's too much of a hassle carrying my desktop full of custom watercooling stuff in prodigy case and keyboard with monitor. just too much to carry all and I wouldnt have space for them.

anyways the spec for the price is good, specifically looked for a laptop with ssd as boot drive ever since I got a first taste of ssd speed on my pc builds I never looked back.

blu-ray is a plus, the speakers are decent for laptop, keyboard feels good. screen is decent as well.

Cons: no led light indicator to show if num/capslock/scroll lock is active. touchpad gets sketchy at times but I mainly use a gaming mouse anyways. positioning of ports are quite awkward.

3 out of 5 eggsWIRELESS DRIVER ISSUE

Pros: Decent deal

Cons: The wireless driver, "qualcomm atheros ar5bwb222", IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 8.1. YOU CANNOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET, AND IF YOU CAN, IT WILL RESET EVERY 15 MINUTES.

I tried all of the "fixes" you can find for this problem if you Google it, none worked. If you search for that driver you'll find tons of people with the same problem, completely unresolved, and I found no answer from any kind of tech support from Acer, Windows, or Atheros.

My solution: I bought Windows 7 Pro. Honestly, this laptop isn't touchscreen, Windows 8 has issues at the moment, and Windows 7 has most of the bugs worked out. RIP Windows XP :(

Other Thoughts: I should have been able to opt for Windows 7 in the first place.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Fast boot up. SSD for boot and a roomy 1TB hard drive for storage. Dedicated graphics card keeps the games running smoothly and highest settings. Machine is amazingly fast.

Cons: Big, heavy and short battery life.

Other Thoughts: Bought for my wife as a desktop replacement. She uses it for gaming mostly, and loves it. As a desktop replacement the cons I listed don't really matter.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Fast - Exactly What I needed

Pros: Solid State Drive makes start up and any programs you install on it work super fast!

I use this for graphic design and I can have InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop open at the same time without issue which is great!

Runs runs much cooler than my previous Acer, though that had an AMD processor which was probably why it ran hot.

I like Windows 8.1, although it comes installed with Windows... all you need to do is install all the updates for Windows 8 and then you can upgrade to 8.1 for free in the Windows store. It definitely took some time to get used to though.

Pleasantly surprised by how quiet this computer is as well. I thought the fans might go crazy because of the processor/video card, but no difference in sound from my old laptop, it actually may be quieter!

Cons: Some people may not like the transition to Windows 8/8.1... though you will get used to it.

If you type a lot, you may want to disable the touch pad and use a mouse, because you can accidentally touch it since it's so large.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: Not too thick or heavy like some laptops with these specs. The 17.3 in screen is clear and easy to see, i have not had any glare issues. Keyboard has a nice feel to it. Plenty of ram and processing power. Boot up is quick with the ssd and i7. Extra hdd for storage. Speaker sound pretty good with nice volume and tone.

Cons: Touchpad is big, you can hit it accidentally. The buttons on the touchpad are also touch sensitive, you can move the curser on accident while trying to click on something. Windows 8 still getting use to it. Webcam is grainy in lower light situations. Hinges for the screen don't feel too durable.

Other Thoughts: I love it!!!! double touch method or use a mouse if your doing anything where you click around a lot and your golden.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this machine!

Pros: Unit is fast! I use the unit for video editing and recording and it works flawlessly. Was concerned originally about buying an Acer Product and time will tell on the durability!

Cons: Loading Windows 8 without a touch screen just doesn't make sense! Don't really like the touch pad, but I have dealt with worse touchpads then this one.

Other Thoughts: When I got this unit, I loaded Windows 7 on it and was able to find the drivers for win7 without too much difficulty. Over all I love the performance of the unit. The graphics are amazing as well!
