2 out of 5 eggsShould have read the reviews

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: The Price

Cons: Very slow, you get what you pay!!!!!

Other Thoughts: Nothing, buy crucial, samsung etc....... not Kingston ssdnow v300.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Diablo,
We apologize for any misunderstanding of the V300's speed. The V300 is an entry level SATAIII SSD which offers 450MB/s read and write when tested with compressible data (ATTO Benchmark). If tested with incompressible data (AS SSD or CrystalDiskMark) the expected results for the 120GB are 180MB/s Read and 133MB/s Write. If you experienced speeds that are not consistent with our specifications (found here: http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/sv300s3_us.pdf), please contact us so we will be abel to troubleshoot with you and see if there is any configuration or setting limiting the drive. If the drive itself is not performing as specified, it can be replaed under it's three year warraty. Reach us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and an available technician will assist you.

Thank you for using the V300,

5 out of 5 eggsToo early for a review? NOPE!

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's substantially faster than any mechanical drive. I haven't actually counted the seconds it takes to boot into Win 7, but I'm sure it's under 20. It's no longer a hassle to click 'Restart Now' when prompt by some program. Because of its small size, I haven't tested any loading times in games. Surely they're great though. Idk how much data writing it can take before failure, so I'm going easy just in case.

Cons: Nah.

Other Thoughts: It conveniently fits in a tiny space in my case that wasn't designed for an SSD. I bought a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter without realizing my HDDs were taking up all the spaces (derp!), but luckily it worked out. Wasted $5 on the adapter, but so what. The future of SSDs looks bright. I can't wait to have multiple terabytes of storage with this kind of speed... when I'm old!

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: This ssd runs really fast and boots amazingly!

Cons: Has alot of issues tride windows 7 and 8 both had the same kernel power issues

Other Thoughts: They could atleast make me eligible for an RMA

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Logan,
We apologize for the inconsistency experienced with the V300 drive. Microsoft indicates a few scenarios that may create the the Kernel-Power event in both Windows 7 and Windows 8, found here: http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2028504
For instance, it may be that the V300 is not getting enough or consistent power from your system's power supply. I recommend trying different power connectors or a different power supply if possible to rule that out. If that is not the issue, please contact us so we will be able to identify the cause and resolve this with you. If needed, the drive can be replaced under it's three year warranty.

Thank you for using the V300!

5 out of 5 eggsLove it.

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: 1. Lightning fast compared to an HDD.
2. Kingston is a known brand.
3. Good price for an SSD.

Cons: Nothing at all.

Other Thoughts: Combining this with a standard HDD is a good plan: use the SSD for the OS and installable programs and the HDD for storage. I set mine up so that my frequently written to folders in windows are located on the HDD (i.e. Desktop, documents, etc). This helps increase the longevity of the SSD. I really like this drive a lot and I'd recommend it.
