5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased with the performance

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT120M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: -Cheap (I think I paid 68 for it)
-Solid performance
-Fast bootup (under 10s)

Cons: -None really

Other Thoughts: I had a SanDisk mSATA SSD and a Seagate 5400rpm HDD in my laptop and I assumed that setup would be pretty fast, but I got all sorts of performance issues, so I deceided to replace them with this SSD. My laptop runns very smoothly, I get bootup times under 10s.

5 out of 5 eggsBoot Time Relief ;)

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT120M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Easy to install on my 2 netbooks - basically, just popped it in and did a fresh OS install. Longest part was disassembling and reassembling other machine parts around it. Shipped quickly, and arrived in good condition. Great price, and I love the boot time saved when compared to an HDD. One of these was for my son's netbook which he wanted to use as a note-taking aid in high school, where wake-up responsiveness was a critical factor - works like a charm, for that. For a little over $60 for this SSD upgrade, he gained all the "chipperness" of a tablet, while keeping decent keyboard capabilities- WELL worth the investment, for me. Having trusted their RAM for years, I like having the Crucial name, as well.

Cons: None, really. I know this isn't the fastest thing out there, but for entry level SSDs, this is definitely clutch, IMHO.

5 out of 5 eggsBargain SSD

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT120M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Built a rig for a family member and its working great. They had no idea how much faster an SSD is.

Windows is set to no-password, and this built achieves 13-second startups. I'm not talking 13 seconds until you see windows, I mean 13 seconds from pressing the power button to being able to double click the Firefox icon.

Cons: Nothing yet.

Pros: Fast, Solid, works great so far. Price very competitively..

3 out of 5 eggsStarting to get a bit fuzzy

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT120M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Great speeds, great bargain, easy install, writes and loads pretty quick, only takes 20 seconds to boot up Windows 7 Home 64 bit.

Cons: Now the cons. Random freezes, motherboard has a hard time detecting the drive sometime. Cables are all solidly connected but still experiencing random freezes.

No 3.5" - 2.5" tray adapter.

Other Thoughts: This is the first SSD I came across that is starting to show random behavior, such as not being detected by the motherboard and freezing at random moments.

This is installed in a office computer with basic Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Little to none video watching or editing for that matter. It just freezes and Windows automatically reboots. One word sums it up = Weird.

I thought it was the SATA cable being funky, but that's not the case. At this moment, I don't know if it's the SSD directly or the SATA cable. I will be changing the SATA cable to a better one soon and see if that will solve this unfortunate problem.

A shame really. Crucial has always treated me well. Guess my luck ran out on this one.

I will provide an update soon.

4 out of 5 eggsnice ssd for the money

This review is from: Crucial M500 CT120M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Inexpensive, good capacity.

Cons: No mounting bracket for a 3.5in bay. Was pretty easy to make a 2nd screw hole to attach... these things have no moving parts can install almost anywhere.

Other Thoughts: Purchased one of these to add some startup speed to my old AMD-X3 pc. Installed Vista left me with 60gb free space for some games. Would have given it 5 stars except on 3 occassions in the last few months computer hung up with weird HD read errors I've not seen before. Otherwise no problems, its a big speed improvement over my 7200rpm.
