2 out of 5 eggsTrendnet 732

Pros: As a father of 2 teenage sons, this router has brought us closer together as a family. Normally my kids are upstairs on their computers ignoring me but since I installed this router, I have spoken with both boys and my wife 9 times already. Unfortunately it has been for them to ask when I was going to order a new router. We even had a wonderful conversation about it for dinner full of laughter and sarcasm. The signal is strong enough to cover a 2500 square foot house FOR UP TO 2 HOURS.

Cons: I didn't hook it up until 35 days after I bought it. This thing drops signal constantly. I bought this for my mother so she could use one of my old notebooks while she sat in her recliner. Thank heaven I didn't have to set it up there or I would have found myself driving an extra 1000 miles a week to unplug it and reset it. So far it hasn't stayed up and transmitting for up to 2 hours at a time without needing to be reset. I thought it might be because we had too many computers attached but it dropped out while I was logging on to write this and I am the only computer up and running at midnight.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because it I thought it would be a nice simple reliable wireless router. I was evidently wrong.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry that you are having this issue with the router. The router shouldn’t require a power cycle to maintain uptime like this. To rule out a hardware issue with the unit we would recommend an RMA for warranty services. Email me at and we’ll have someone help you begin the RMA process as soon as possible. Please include your contact information and a link to this review.

4 out of 5 eggsBasic Router

Pros: Although I haven't used it, a "guest function" is a desirable feature.

Cons: No real cons for my use.

Other Thoughts: It appears that Trendnet has identified a basic set of features needed by the majority of us. It's the first router I've had that has no blinking lights for hard wired connections. Made me think "Why do I need them?". If you feel it's a bargain price, and you can deal with "basic" it's a good choice. Connect performance and build quality seem to compete with more expensive routers.
