5 out of 5 eggsGreat little router

Pros: Simple to setup, set it and forget it I guess. I've had this router for over 3 years the warranty expired months ago and its still chugging on. Never once had an issue with it.

Cons: I've forgotten the administrator password but never needed to reset it, maybe one day...

4 out of 5 eggsReconsidered

Pros: Openwrt capable. I have "Barrier Breaker " running on mine now. I originally had the "Attitude Adjustment " downloaded from the TrendNet website.

Cons: Rf interference can render it useless. I originally gave up on this. My modem router's radio began to fail so I dug this out, did a openwrt reset through telnet, and got it running again. Didn't preform very well speed wise. But did work. Ordered a TEW732 300mbs one. So since that one is sitting at my local post office, I chanced doing a firmware upgrade to "Barrier Breaker". Wow what a performance increase! Only 150mbps speed. "https://downloads.openwrt.org/barrier_breaker/14.07/ar71xx/generic/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tew-712br-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin"

Other Thoughts: I had a lot of problems with this at first. However after a lot of research, I managed to get it straightened out. I have a tew732 down at the post office right now. This one will be carefully stored for a backup. To be fair, I'm running 5 wireless cam, 3 androids, 1 laptop and at least one, sometimes more desktops of it. Plus Magic Jack. The 150mbps doesn't quite cut it for me. But nevertheless it's not too bad for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Router.

Pros: Right price, good interface, good options. Good enough signal. especially for the price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought this on sale to replace customers broken routers.
Usually as a loaner, but the last guys said it worked better than what they had, so they bought it from me.
Now I have to get another on sale......

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: NONE

Cons: Support doesn't respond to email, interface froze, reset doesn't work. Worst product I've ever purchased on Newegg. Trendnet is a terrible company. I wouldn't buy anything from them.

Other Thoughts: Steer clear

2 out of 5 eggsOnly worked for 3mo and out of Newegg RMA

Pros: Worked great for 3mo. Then stopped assigning IP address over WiFi.

Cons: Stopped assigning IP address over WiFi after only 3mo.
Just out of Newegg RMA 90 day period.
Have to pay shipping on such a cheap router if RMA'd to TrendNet. Not sure why they would want this thing back given the price.
Replacing with a Netgear WNR2020v2 for nearly the same price.

Other Thoughts: Would give more stars if was reliable.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsH/W Version 1 Vs. Version 2

Pros: This is a great router for use with Intel nuc's ethernet energy saving mode (802.3az). This is the most energy efficient router i have ever owned.(H/W Version. 1)

Cons: I own both hardware version 1 (comes in orange box) & 2 (comes in blue box). I'm going to keep using version 1 and perhaps resell version 2. Version 2 has mostly nice new features such as more bold bright LED's and a improved web admin interface. The con is that the newer one uses slightly more power consumption.

Version 1 while idle: 1 watt
Version 1 while idle with wifi: 1.4 watt

Version 2 while idle: 1.4 watt
Version 2 while idle with wifi: 1.9 watt

I also noticed when switching on/off DHCP server in the options, version 2 takes about 70 seconds to reboot while version 1 is almost instant.

Sorry TRENDnet, but in today's economy every single kilowatt matters. The updated model is definitely not for me as I want the most energy savings. Maybe others wont mind?

Other Thoughts: I am using version 1 for a long time!

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good......

Pros: My download speed increased by 15mb and internet browsing seems much faster now. I have not tried internet gaming yet but then I really don't do much of that. Set was quick and easy. All my computers (3) and 3 smart phones and one tablet working quite well so far. It does seem to have a stronger signal as well so passes through the 4 apt walls between me and the router plus a large tv. The UI is easy to use and you can set up with your own password to access UI and to connect to router. Overall a very good buy.

Cons: Only thing I see is it feels cheap and very light but so does the old 300mb Netgear router I was using. Netgear is way to complicated when setting up but this Trendnet is a piece of cake.

Other Thoughts: Works for me so far.

4 out of 5 eggsAverage Router for the price

Pros: I bought this router to replace a broken one for my girlfriend, I wasn't really looking for anything special just something to send the signal through a small apartment. for most part this does the job. doesn't come with a robust software suite or anything like that but if all you want is a wireless router reasonable range this is pretty good for price. It's basically plug and play, plug it in set up the wifi from a computer in windows and go online. I would not buy for $40, but I got it on sale for about 20 so at that price it's definitely a decent deal.

Cons: like I mentioned in the pros, there isn't any software package that comes with it, but it's enough to get along without any of the bells and whistles. Wait for it to go on sale and pick it up.

4 out of 5 eggsProduct works good.

Pros: The router is cheap and affordable i got it for less than $20. Configuration was easy. Hooked up to the modem viola!! it started working right away. I am using it since 2 months and did not observe any issues til now as against my previous other routers

Cons: Guest access feature is missing(i wanted to use the WEP for my old desktop which supports only WEP).
Had to tweak manual to find out and activate WPS feature..
