4 out of 5 eggsCan't beat it for the price

Pros: It works great as an access point to provide Wi-Fi to the further rooms from the main router.

Cons: The Range is not great and it would not go through a block wall.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for but for less than 20 it's a great deal.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my previews review BAD Cap...

Pros: When it works, its good

Cons: Does not last more than 2 years. My first one failed after 2 years. My replacement failed almost exactly 1 year. Same exact problem as my first one. Warranty is based off of original purchase. Now out of warranty. When it fails your wireless bandwidth will be almost 0 throughput. 2400 baud modem speeds. There is obviously some design/quality flaw with this product.

Other Thoughts: I think I may have found the flaw. I replaced the copper colored 220uf 25v Capacitor at location C177, so far been working good for 1 week. Initial reading was 212, but then kept dropping. It went down to 209. May have even went lower if I kept testing. New replacement cap was reading 224uf. :)

1 out of 5 eggsStay far away from this model.

Pros: When it works, its good.

Other Thoughts: I would stay far away from this model. Do not let the good price fool you. I almost gave this one two stars for when it works. But I do not think it deserves two. Because it will eventually fail.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this Router

Pros: Range
resets quickly (I should know)

Cons: Cuts out regularly, needs to be reset constantly.
Blocks access to common websites sporadically (Yahoo, Newegg)

Other Thoughts: I thought I was upgrading when I purchased this, I was wrong. I was replacing an old microsoft router that would need to be rebooted about once a week. I've had this router for quite a while now and I can clearly say I wish I had never bought it. I've had it RMA'd once already and it was supposedly a new one. Same issues keep occurring. I use it for wireless stuff and also as a pass through for my PC.
It constantly fails to connect to webpages. after some research there's some type of internal firewall that I cannot access. I've chewed out my provider so many times for them to point at the router and then prove it to be the issue. It's left a bad taste in my mouth for TrendNET all together now. This was supposedly an awesome low priced router when I got it, but after nearly 3 years of on going struggle, I'm going to have to buy a NEW one to replace this one. What an aggravation it has been. Under light usage even it struggles. I mainly use my Wi-Fi for clash of clans, email, and texting. But it still can't seem to be reliable. That's awful in my book.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We are sorry hear that you had an issue with the TEW-731BR. The router does have a built in NAT firewall but it doesn’t block outbound traffic. We would recommend testing your connection while directly connected to your modem to rule out a router issue. Please email adrian@trendnet.com and we will have a support representative assist you. 1 out of 5 eggsCan't use a PC as a Server

Pros: Perfect little wireless & wired Router

Cons: Unable to Port a PC to the internet,, trying to have a home server for other friends n family on net. Even in DMZ the pc can't be recognized. Played with all kinds of settings in FILTERS, VIRTUAL SERVER, DMZ & FIREWALL RULES.
Nothings works. Read in a previous review another customer had same issue

Other Thoughts: Probably a defective router as for port forwarding or opening to net as a server. Least it's in the 3 Year Warrenty

3 out of 5 eggsworked,But

Pros: Great rma process. Newegg was very fast in refunding my money back to my debit card. Thanks

1 out of 5 eggsKeep Shopping

Pros: The price is right, but you get what you pay for. At first it was good, not great but good. Sleek.

Cons: Signal weak barely gets a signal across my home. Has some kind of built in firewall, that disrupts my satellite signal. Upgrade more troubling than helpful. When it was working needed to be reset at least once daily. I upgraded from an older different brand router, thought I was getting a better one but I was mistaken. Very sad I can keep a reliable signal.

Other Thoughts: I had a TrendNet switch I really like thats why I tried their router, very disappointed. I've given it many chance and have upgraded the firmware, I've had it for 2 years and I'm about to have to buy a new one due to its inconsistencies.

1 out of 5 eggsNo good.

Pros: Low cost, great wireless coverage, fast when it was working

Cons: Drops signal, hard to login to router

Other Thoughts: I have owned this router for about 4 months. One day it stopped working all together. I had my ISP come over to try and configure it to get service from my modem and I had TRENDnet customer support assist me. My ISP said everything is fine on my modem and showed me. However, TRENDnet tech support had no clue what was going on and the Rep said she would have her supervisor give me a call back in an hour to an hour and a half later. I never received a call back that day, and here it is a week later and I still haven't received word from anyone. If you need support from TRENDnet good luck getting it.

2 out of 5 eggsshort lifespan

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Had for less than a year. All my devices can see it, but there is no internet connectivity wirelessly or wired. Have to reboot about every 10 minutes to be able to use the router. My modem is fine. Good thing it was cheap to purchase since It's in the dumpster now.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We apologize for the experience you had with the router. If you still have the router, we would recommend that you upgrade the unit with the latest firmware update found on our website. Please ensure you perform a factory reset on the router after the update to finalize the update process. If the router continues to have this issue it has a 3 year limited warranty. We would be more than happy to RMA it for warranty services. Please email Adrian@trendnet.com and we’ll have someone assist you with submitting your warranty claim as soon as possible. Please include your contact information and a link to this review.
