5 out of 5 eggsGreat for me and good value!

Pros: Fastest read / write in it's price range. Easy to set up and get running. Great for home media server and general back up storage. By the way, try deleting any Volumes / partitions and start with a raw drive.

Cons: Hard drive install and removal could be better. Other manufacturers are able to get the drives in and out without adding caddies or using a handle / pull tool for removal.

Other Thoughts: I recommend using raw drives for initial install especially if you are having a problem. I have a few of these for quite a while and they are all good. I use Hitachi 4TB drives with good success. There is a new version the NSA 325 v2. which has the same hardware and similar performance but a more "stylish" container. I highly recommend them.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Device to work with

Pros: Nothing really positive other then its cheap

Cons: I have had this device for just under 4 months, we have had it replaced once in warranty and now has died again. This device is horrible to troubleshoot, if it doesn't connect to the network there nothing you can do.... The Lights are ambiguous and really don't tell you anything that is wrong. The device often just looses it network connection requiring hours of monkey around with stuff you can see.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this device, its poorly designed and nothing but a bad headache.

4 out of 5 eggsHow to get it working

Pros: - Small
- Affordable
- Decent Specs (compared to all the low speed CPU/RAM NAS)
- Brand

Cons: - Instructions are extremely limited.
- Difficult to install HDD's due to lack of instruction.

Other Thoughts: If you get a continuous beeping when you install a HDD then follow these steps:
1. Remove all HDD and boot the NAS
2. You will now be able to find it on your network.
3. Set it up & upgrade the Firmware
4. Connect your HDD to your PC and go to your PC's Control Panel then select Administrative Tools, then Computer Management, then Storage.
5. Find the HDD you connected (for use in your NAS) and Right click on it. Then select New Simple Volume.
6. Follow the steps until it asks how much to allocate and divide that number by 2 (if using 3tb or greater).
7. Continue with the steps until it asks to format and select do not format now.
8. Do the same step if you created a separate volume by setting the allocated space.
9. You now have 1 or 2 (depending on your allocated space) volumes which are not formatted.
10. With your NAS running and you are logged in to it from your browser, insert the NAS drive(s).
11. Go to your PC and use the NAS Starter Utility to find and connect to your NAS. Now you should see the initialize button. Press it and follow the instructions.
12. If it seems to be frozen on one of the questions just close it and it will pop-up with the rest of the initialization.
13. Let it finish the initialization and allow zPilot to install if you wish.
14. On your PC browser control page (which you open for the top left of the NAS Starter Utility under the Configuration pull down) you should now see the drive installed as one volume.
15. Crazy, I know but none of this is listed in the instructions, it was all trial and error to get here.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat for the cost

Pros: Very reliable with lots of features. I use several of these at businesses I provide off-site backup and IT support services to so I don't use many options except the SMART add on to check drive health and emailing logs. It isn't the fastest out there, but it is fast enough for my use. It runs very stable and I haven't had one fail yet. Firmware updates occur on a regular basis so it is nice to see it gets a lot of ongoing support by the manufacturer to add features and fix bugs. I recommend this to all of my friends looking for a central storage solution at home.

Cons: Needs to be restarted to recognize USB 3.0 drives. Would love to see this fixed on a firmware update.

1 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for....

Pros: Price

Cons: Reliability, Customer Service

Other Thoughts: There is a reason why this company only provides 1 year warranty on the NSA325. It fails shortly after a year. And has costed me $1000 worth of data recovery. My suggestion. If your data is critical. DONT GO CHEAP. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! And as a side note. Even though Zyxel posts up a compatibility chart for the hard drives. Dont rely on it. I learned this the hard way. You need to go with NAS rated hard drives. They are more expensive but when dealing with your data. Its well worth it. I even attempted to reach out to the customer service. They responded twice and when I got back to them with the serial # of my unit. That was the last I heard from them.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for your buck

Pros: Offers great network transfer rates for a sub $200 NAS, USB 3.0 works good, system stays cool, simple interface.

Cons: I would like to have seen the ability to DNS instead of simply DDNS. I would also like to see run time and time remaining within the interface when using the copy/sync button.

Other Thoughts: Overall an excellent NAS and I will definitely purchase more whenever needing a 2 bay.
