2 out of 5 eggsToo Pricey Too Many Headaches

Pros: 1. The boot time is really fast, only takes 2 seconds from start to desktop.
2. Able to run games at a low resolution without problems.
3. Really light, easy to carry around in an backpack or by hand without stress.
4. Keyboard doesn't stick to my fingers when typing.
5. A niche ultrabook that I can use to take notes in class or at work.

So why 2 eggs only (look below)?

Cons: A little over a year of owning my unit, I had to ship this computer three times because of battery related problems. I bought my unit at full price ($1600) of March 2013.
The first work order, in November 2013, Acer did a factory reset and said there were no further problems.

Two weeks later, I had to bring it in again because the computer wouldn't stay on without the AC adapter. Acer responded to the second work order by "refitting" the battery.
Now we forward to the beginning of May where I had to return it again for a third time to have the battery checked again because my unit wouldn't run on battery power. Acer responded by replacing the battery (finally).

Each of these work orders took a little over a month before I could get my computer back. Even though I owned this unit for a little over a year, I only had about 10 months usage. I am currently still waiting after a month to get my laptop repaired again.

Other Thoughts: For a laptop of a high caliber, I expected more from Acer. I shouldn't have to send my laptop in on an average of every 4 months at the cost I bought it. Luckily I bought a two-year warranty, so I do not have to pay 70 dollars every time I send my computer in.
Every time I send my unit in for repairs, my configuration for the laptop is always reset back to factory settings, meaning I have to reconfiguration/re-personalize my laptop every time.

Hence the title "Too Pricey Too Many Headaches".

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: it looks cool

Cons: I had this laptop, the highest end model, for about 6 months. I actually bought it from a retailer, and I ended up exchanging it repeatedly. I went through 4 of them before finally exchanging it for the new sony haswell ultrabook. And everyone else I know with this acer s7 had the same problem...
THE KEYBOARD! you just cannot type a sentence on this thing without producing double-characters.
What exactly do I mean... press j and you'd get jj and so on, all day every day;
I dealth with it for 6 months, while using an external keyboard when I had real work to do.
Acer dropped the ball BIGTIME.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat ultrabook

Pros: This is a great ultra portable rig. I got it from another website because I had a gift card and I'm so glad I did!
1) It is fast and SO thin but feels sturdy in your hand.
2) The screen is crisp and has great viewing angles and brightness. The touchscreen is a little gimmicky right now but if Windows 8 ever gets some good apps then maybe it'll make it more useful.
3) The keyboard is awesome and easy and comfortable to type on.
4) The SSD's in raid 0 are crazy fast.
5) The sound from the speakers is much louder than I expected coming from the bottom of the machine but can get muddled if you're playing it on your lap on something soft like in bed.
6) Wi-Fi problems have been fixed and runs very smooth.

Cons: These cons are very small to me but there are a few:
1) The trackpad is a little flaky as well as the gestures but the gestures work great on the touchscreen its self
2) Fans can get a little loud in hotter environments but that's to be expected when you cram so much power into such a tiny frame
3) Intel 4000 graphics aren't great but you're not buying this as a desktop replacement

Other Thoughts: It can run games like WoW and Diablo 3 on medium at 1080 but that's now what you buy this for so that's just a bonus. If you're looking for one of (if not the) thinnest and lightest computers that can actually do work then you've found it.

1 out of 5 eggsStandard Dsiplay

Pros: Better than average battery life.

Cons: Obviously, Windows 8 is biggest con. Touchscreen.

Other Thoughts: For additional 400 you can as well buy MBP, with double resolution screen, same SSD drive and sameCore i7 processor and dedicated nVidia graphics.
