2 out of 5 eggs33% fail rate

Pros: Cheap for this size of monitor, looks fine when it works, lightweight, sturdy tilt function, easy assembly for the stand.

Cons: High fail rate, dead pixels, faulty OSD buttons.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased 6 of these monitors from Newegg and 2 of them are bad. One has a dead pixel and the other has an OSD button stuck. The OSD button continuously locks and unlocks the OSD menu which causes an alternating locked and unlocked padlock symbol to appear in the middle of the display. I have to pay the shipping to return the monitor to Newegg, too.The other four are functioning fine. The reason I gave this 2 stars is because the 33% fail rate is unacceptable. However when they work they are good displays. I would not purchase another one of these monitors because I may have a 1 in 3 chance of getting a bad one.

5 out of 5 eggsA quality mid-range monitor

Pros: I'm coming from working entirely on laptops, so the biggest pro is the acres and acres of screen space. The colors look good, though blacks are kinda brownish. I'm not a graphical design expert, but it looks as clear and crisp as you'd expect a monitor at this resolution to look.

Cons: Had one stuck pixel when I took it out of the box, though I lightly pressed it and it went away.

Other Thoughts: At this price point, the monitor performs very well.

I recently noticed that the monitor is not quite level. I would've never seen it if it hadn't been for a picture hanging right above it which I know IS level. I'm not certain that it's the monitor and not my desk or my floor, as the discrepancy is fairly small.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Impressions

Pros: Pros:
Color consistency, text legibility, brightness, color separation, sharpness, and backlight intensity (black level).
The screen is sharp- perfect for a 16 hour days of coding,
This will be easy on the eyes...though I may turn down the brightness a tad.
Adjustment buttons are easily accessible. Screen tilt is within range that suits my requirements, aspect raitio is spot on.
The text is clear, fully legible and looks great at full resolution. The matte finish is a huge plus in minimizing reflected glare, a source of eye fatigue when editing text.
This may be the last set of monitors I need for a very long time...but will update in six months or so.

Cons: The first con of this review is it's an out of box review...
People tend to rave about a new product.
Video ports face down instead of straight out the back. This positioning results in less stress on the connectors, and I understand that, but I'm so lazy that when I change monitors (every few years) I just want to set it down, plug it straight in and go to work without having to tilt the monitor forward a few degrees.

Other Thoughts: Images look great with good color sep with out of box settings. have 2 of the 2114's, in 4 display array...booting the last samsung off the display grid and ordering a 3rd of these Dells. 4th monitor is 57" DLP Mitsubishi, which uses a color wheel and so I use this monitor as the color reference standard. Grew to hate the 23" LED edge lit Samsung Display over time...totally inconsistent in sharpness/color with a second samsung...but first impression of these Dells is like soothing eye drops...ahhhh. I can see clearly now.
I don't really care what gaming is like...this is for work, these monitors have non-glare (hooray!) finish....meant for serious work and hours long sessions. Another plus is the monitor power consumption...REAL, easily accessible adjustment buttons.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Picked one of these up at the local store when my HDMI adapter died. As a secondary monitor it's not bad. Honestly, a half decent 1080p monitor makes a really good secondary since you can actually do stuff on it. Image quality is good enough for what I use it for (which is basically web browser and nothing else). Good monitor for the price, I suppose.

Dark scenes actually look better than on the U2412M (as long as you're staring straight at the monitor).

Cons: Welp. It's 1080p which, per popularity, is the worst resolution of all time. In comparison to the U2412M, it's easy to see why this monitor costs a benny less. Viewable angle is an embarassment, stand is greatly inferior, no USB hub, no Display Port, almost 2" shorter because of crummy resolution. Etc. Again, you're spending a lot less. Can't complain too much.

Like the Ultrasharp, there's no HDMI. Luckily, if you're forced into the option for whatever reason, the expensive solution of [monitor > DVI adapter > HDMI cable > PC] does work.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if I could just buy the Dell pivot stand.

1 out of 5 eggsThe worse Dell product i ever owned

Pros: cheap! that is it

Cons: the monitor is like a piece of cardboard (make mostly from plastic, not metal like most monitors i know, but that is not a big deal to me).
The color and pixel is hor....ri...ble. my company uses lots of Dell monitors (great!), did spend some times to read reviews from you guys and follow the path, plus the price is cheap too. Well, i regret about it, listen guy, if you want a decent monitor then don't pick this one (and that is why they still have many in stock selling for cheap price). Just put another $100 in you can sleep well.

Other Thoughts: The best thing you should do is to go to local store checking out the quality of particular model before buying online.

5 out of 5 eggsbest quality for price

Pros: Running 3 of these at my desk and they all look great. Price was just right so I've been using these in my standard dual-screen deployments.

Cons: None that I can tell .. maybe a little too bright but that could be me.

Other Thoughts: Good quality for the price. Will continue buying as long as they are in stock.

4 out of 5 eggsMy 1st Dell LCD

Pros: Very good color.
Good contrast and brightness control.
Front facing menu buttons with easy to use menu layout.
Very fast wake-up from sleep mode.
All cables included.

Cons: After just one week of use (avg 16 hours a day) it has developed a stuck pixel (bright red) towards top-right.

Other Thoughts: For a TN panel the colors/contrast/brightness are pretty even all around the screen, blacks aren't pure black but has lots of color without saturation.

Power light is white and blinks in sleep mode (instead of green/blue for power and orange for sleep), sort of odd but will get used to it I guess.

Took one egg off for the stuck pixel, otherwise a nice monitor for the price (was $130, no rebate hassles, free ship).

Thanks newegg for super fast free shipping, parts(Indiana warehouse) to my door (Chicago) in 2 days! :-)

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Reliable middle range monitor, color, light weight, stylish, professional, fast shipping, price

Cons: This is not a great monitor but it is what I need for a secondary monitor.

Other Thoughts: I own 4 dell monitors. Recently I bought a AOC 24" monitor that has very dull color comparing to the dell monitor. AOC has little bit better viewing angle and little bit better energy saving. But those are not important to me. The worst part of AOC is screen color is very dull and has bad glaring while I view web pages. While the dell one looks just right, my eyes feel comfortable while I am doing web surfing. Color is very saturated. Plus dell monitor is very durable. My other 3 monitors lasts 7-10. None of them had any issue. Finally I got a good price;-)

4 out of 5 eggsNice but....

Pros: Nice quality, sturdy and attractive styling.

Cons: only problem is lack of direct video source change button

Other Thoughts: if you want to switch video source like me with the push of a button then you'll be disappointed. I have given mine to another person in the office because I need two computers at my desk and want to toggle video quick. this monitor requires that you enter the menu and then switch, 3 steps. other than that it is a great deal when bought with the promo discount, less than 130 for a nice 24" Dell.
