3 out of 5 eggsRecommend putting this thing on its side

Pros: Easy to set up. Fairly decent speeds over 1G network.

Cons: Needs a wider base if its going to be stand on its feet.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this device, recommend laying it down on its side. I've already knocked it over once. The drive wasn't working at all for a few days. Its stopped clicking, but I don't trust the drive integrity anymore. If the feet were wider apart, it might not get tipped so easily.

Cons: I expected a bit faster transfer rate. I just did transfer with 5 MB/Sec speed. I was expecting at least twice as fast!

1 out of 5 eggsReceived broken

Pros: small and fits on the desk nicely

Cons: Plugged it in and won't boot. Looked in the box for a booklet and you just get a couple fold outs. No detailed instructions, no way to take it apart and check the drive, nothing.

2 out of 5 eggsNice and a nightmare at the same time

Pros: Very easy connection with laptop on a lan and throught a DNS as Dyn DNS. Port forwarding works well

Cons: Never been able to connect a USB Hitaci DD 2 TB and tried for many hours. Did everything This is a common problem for many makes as seen on forums A big minus as this is a 2TB NAS with only one DD. You NEED to back it up with another DD.

Extremely poor and inefficient software on Android. Never been able to configure it and DO NOT WORK. SEE EVALUATION ON GooglePlay :2.9! So forget about using it on an Android tablet for a Web access ... and probably phone also.

Never been able also to even subscribe to their cloud service...

This is not an easy one...

Never bee able to connect

4 out of 5 eggsWorth it

Pros: Setup was simple.
Throughput is good.
Minimal Noise.
Adequate size for the price.

Cons: Doesn't auto mount to all users.
Backup software won't "run once available"

Other Thoughts: I got this to be able to save out and backup photo's, documents, and other user files. Additionally its used as a shared storage space for random documents.
The backup is fairly easy to setup and does offer a host of options.
But if you want to start getting detailed with your backups, or have more control it takes a bit of messing with. Also if you schedule a backup for say 5pm every Sunday, but your computer is not on at 5pm on Sunday, it just skips it as failed. I would rather it attempt that backup as soon as next available.
Last, while it auto mounted for the user who installed it, I had to setup the mount manually for the other accounts. Not a big deal to me, but if you don't already know how to do this It could be of concern to people expecting it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice NAS:)

Pros: Perfect for me - just wanted a simple NAS for data backups. I plugged it in and in 1 minute it was booted and on-line taking on data. Didn't have to touch a thing.

I didn't install the Navigator. The web-based settings interface is easy to use and everything it does seems to be perfectly clear.

I did turn on the DLNA service - yes it instantly shows up as a source on my "smart" BluRay player.

Cons: Couldn't find any.

Other Thoughts: I expected to have some trouble with it, but I had none. It's nicely made and easy to use - I couldn't get it to malfunction!

5 out of 5 eggsVery happy with my purchase!

Pros: I own a much older NAS, but it is very slow and did not support Apple Time Machine. In comparison, drive access to the Buffalo NAS is much quicker. I like the space limits by User & Group account and the Cloud access is a nice feature too.

Cons: None really. I would prefer that the space limits were defined at the share level, but it works the way it is, so I'm good with that.
