3 out of 5 eggsAvoid upgrading to Windows 10 if you still need this Network Adapter

Pros: Was incredible under Windows 7 super fast connection.

Cons: Does not work well with Windows 10

Other Thoughts: I was getting 300mbps down with this card before upgrading to Windows 10. After upgrading I dropped down to 100mbps download speeds. I switched to the dreaded on board NIC and surprisingly my speeds went back up to 300mbps. Tried to find new drivers but nothing worked.

4 out of 5 eggsExactly as described. A NIC you can actually trust.

Pros: Performance is reasonable. Installation is easy. Relatively few driver updates, and the drivers themselves are pretty much rock solid.

Cons: Pricing, as per the usual from Intel, is higher than you'd like. There's really nothing to complain about beyond that.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for here. Spend a bit more, and you don't have to wonder when the Realtek drivers will bork your system. Speeds were as expected, but that's likely because this is using the PCI-e interface (lord knows why PCI gigabit cards exist).

All in all an expensive, but thoroughly worthwhile, investment. If you need to add another ethernet connection to a small home server, this is your best bet for just working. I'd recommend it highly for being the best solution for people who want something to just work.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy install and setup

Pros: FAR, FAR better than the junk they build into most motherboards these days!
Error handing is far superior
Traffic shaping works faster and smoother
Jumbo frames works properly

Cons: Price (the one built into my motherboard is free to use), but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend anyone with a non Intel or non KillerNIC on their motherboard to disable it in the BIOS and install one of these instead.

5 out of 5 eggsAs usual, top quality

Pros: No issues, works great and is well supported in many operating systems. I just bought these two for a firewall build. They were immediately detected and have been up 24/7 since the system was deployed without problem.

Comes with a low profile bracket.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have been using Intel NICs for many years now and they always work. 0 failure rate so far. I have one of these from an older purchase that lived through a direct lighting strike on the power line outside my house. It blew two switches in my network and completely killed or just fried the ethernet ports on everything connected to them except the Intel NIC. It is still working to this day.

2 out of 5 eggsLack of Windows 10 Support

Pros: When working it works fine.

Cons: I bought this card because my onboard Reaktek network chip was having connection issues, so I bought this card. When working it works just fine, but then the same issues began happening. When I turn on my computer I get the yellow exclamation point and it won't connect for about 5 minutes. Microsoft said this card is not compatible with Windows 10 and no new drivers will be released to support it. No new drivers on Intel's site either. I'm frustrated with MS and Intel.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked Perfectly on Windows 10 machine

Pros: Easy to install, Win10 downloaded and installed drivers automatically. You have to remember to disable the on-board NIC in your BIOS before you boot the system. It's usually located under the 'Advanced' tab in the BIOS.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend to Dell XPS 8300 users. Their on-board NIC sucks and has many reported failures with 7, 8, 8.1, & 10. Dell will tell you that you need a new motherboard to resolve this issue. And Intel will state that this adapter does not support Win10. But can tell you that it does work--perfectly!

5 out of 5 eggsFixed a dead MB port

Pros: Small - low profile
Intel Beast Networking performance as all ways
PCIe x1

Cons: none
no drivers in the box, used intel site (not really a con)

Other Thoughts: Ordered this for a client that had a lighting strike kill his router and the 10/100 port on a old hp SFF PC, this pop right in once installed the low profile bracket and downloaded lastets drivers from intel on a usb stick from my laptop since his windows vista had no drivers to use for it. Client is happy says his net is faster then before witch make me happy. Intel NIC wins every time.
